A foreign man executed a unique motorcycle theft in Phuket by pretending to play with a dog, then riding off on the bike while the owner stood nearby. The incident took place on November 11 in Samkong, Phuket. CCTV footage shows the suspect petting the dog outside a property before suddenly mounting the bike and speeding away.

Witnesses reported the man drove past Bangkok Hospital Phuket before disappearing. Surveillance cameras captured the suspect in casual attire, engaging with the dog as a distraction. The police are reviewing footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras to trace his movements, and they are investigating whether he acted alone or as part of a group targeting parked motorcycles.

Officers are asking the public for any information that could assist in finding the suspect. Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred in Pattaya on August 28. A foreign man was arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle on Soi 16, in the vicinity of Walking Street. Witnesses believe the suspect was possibly under the influence of drugs.

After the theft in Pattaya, the motorcycle's owner alerted local taxi drivers who promptly pursued and intercepted the suspect. The man was detained near the old pier until police took him into custody. Authorities in Phuket are considering links between the two crimes as the investigation progresses.

Key Takeaways

Hehe.. taken by opportunity though. Not using dogs as distraction as OP claims. The whole time he was petting dogs, he was eyeing the bike to steal. Maybe the owner left the keys in it and walked away. The man actually looked at the other bike to steal before he went back and stole the blue one. Surely not stolen for monetary gain as that bike has little value.

I do hope they catch the foreigner. Which I am pretty sure they will because he was so stupid to steal it in full view of cameras. I am certain other cameras will be showing his face.

My thoughts too, owner left the keys in the ignition...

Just another quality farang.

A foreigner who was comfortable with driving off against the flow of traffic.

Just another cheap rat, who was magnetically attracted by the TAT visa policy!

Two motorbikes stolen 700 kms apart and the police are considering whether the crimes are linked?

Sounds like a stretch

Authorities in Phuket are considering links between the two crimes as the investigation progresses.

No wonder they don't catch many?

Brit.

The dogs are innocent and smart. Plus dogs are loyal to the owner Unfortunately  their weakness in some cases is they believe all humans are good people.

To finish they have been to me better companions than most female partners I have had and less costly when a prior female decides to divorce me!

I don't think dogs believe all humans are good people. Unless they have had prior good experience, they check first as to whether friend or foe. It's not that difficult for them to find out.
