options for a 6 mo stay without leaving the country

Featured Replies

I'm considering another long stay, 6 mo, instead of 3, but don't really want to do any border runs.  Are the options Non-O with EOS and DTV or is there some other way ?

if I were to do the DTV must can I join a Thai School for just 1 month, or would it require > 1 month if the being stamped in for 6 months?

I have a Thai bank account, but hesitate to fund it for the 800k , esp if not committing to EOS indefintely , eg getting the money back out of the Bangkok Bank / Country

cheers , KT

That will be challenging.  but you bring up the question of getting the 800kbaht out, should you do a one year extension of stay.  Can somebody weigh in on if they were able to get their 800k out without too much hassle?  I assume it was not a timed account which would have penalties.  Maybe some withdrawal fees.  Would you be able to wire/transfer the money back to your home bank?  Could you use your ATM debit card back home?  Let's say Kasikorn bank is used for the 800k initial deposit for the First extension of stay,

DeeMoney can be used to transfer money out of the country.

I also find Crypto an easy way to move money around -

i.e.

1) Hold a BitKub account (in Thailand)

2) Hold a Crypto account overseas (i.e. Kraken)

3) Transfer Money from the Thai bank (i.e. SCB) into BitKub account

4) In Bitkub buy a Cyrpto currency (one that moves fast like XRP or a stable coin)

5) Move the Cyrpto currency to the overseas Crypto account (i.e. Kraken)

6) Extract to your BankAccount.

(note double check tax liability).

The reverse is how I move money into Thailand (in less than 15mins) - so the same can be done moving money out of Thailand.

If you can be bothered with the supporting requirements you could get a non-OA.

In other words you want something that suits what you want.

Only thing that comes to mind is Non O-A. (pita)

You could obtain a Non O retirement (money in foreign or Thai account)

Enter and obtain a 90 day stamp.

Then exit Thailand and obtain another Non O eVisa on the eVisa platform

Requires one exit however could be via air safely as you would enter with a visa.

Folk intending to use Dee Money need to check out that option and not assume business as usual.

Some issues arouse in 2024.

I guess you are on a budget trip since you do not care to just fly out for a weekend or a short round trip?

I promise you, and border crossing is much more convenient than trying to obtain visa.

Just a nice trip to Phu Quoc is a nice brake when staying 6 months or so in Thailand.

Technically speaking you can not even do that anymore, you would only be able to do 2 arrivals and 1 extension of 30 days, a second of 7 days.

For what it's worth, I haven't had any issues with DeeMoney since their successful restart in July.

Good.

The alternatives I pointed out do not require funds in Thai Bank account.

In the reality the best option is METV but the OP doesn't like leaving Thailand.

ok, well, I guess it is as I thought, so for a DTV say from los angelas consulate, can I get some paid in advance certificate from a thai language school for 1 month, as sufficient to visit for 6 months?

or must I show paid for 6 months for the 1st entry , also how far in advance to attempt a  DTV , must I show the flights when applying?

perhaps I could buy a flight with a return change allowed, as would not know if the DTV will be successful?

PS: is it routine to wire transfer from BBL back to the US, if I do the non-O  with EOS?

There is a 61 pinned thread devoted to DVT.

Suggest you Google... "DTV Thailand AseanNow" and there will be zillion results showing threads, with first hand experiences and reports.

Are you married? If yes you can get a 90 day Non O + 60 day extension based on marriage. That will at least give you almost 5 months without leaving the kingdom.

And I posted earlier to use Google and exactly what to enter.

The results were all the listed threads on DTV. Covering all aspects and advice.

I stopped at counting 50 threads.

Best thing to do re DTV is research.

Sites such as this from Siam legal also give clear overview of the visa along with optiond

After twenty years in Thailand using visa runs, ED visa, O-A visa, agent assisted O visa, eventually I settled for a DTV visa using digital nomad category. Entering and exiting Thailand at my whim was more important to me than anything else. I will see how long it lasts and if the IOs have any objection in the future or not.

if i got a MULTY ENTRY THAI VISA,can i do 2 x 30 days extension because i have a visa or it will be the first one 30 days and second one only 7 days

Thai Soft Power Activities

If you do not work online but want this visa anyway, you can still qualify for the DTV if you plan to engage in “Thai Soft Power” activities. These include:

Muay Thai courses

Thai cooking courses

Sports training

Medical treatment

Seminars

Music festivals

This category exists because these activities enhance the prestige of Thailand’s culture and improve the country’s standing in the international community. However, be aware that for the best chance of approval, the activity or course you join should have a duration of at least than 6 months.

Have you considered the Non O-A visa?

Non O multi entry visa is now no longer available..

There is a Non O-A multi entry visa that can provide 2 years with as little as one exit/reenter.

However requires insurance policy.

thanks DRJACK,I READ THIS TODAY ABOUT VISA EXTENSION,can you tell me if i do 2 visa exempt 60 day,may i get 2 x 30 days extension re entering by plane ,i dont understand what they say about you get 97 days,it is apply to the first extension

Visa-Free Entry: Still 60 Days, but Extensions Are No Longer Guaranteed

The standard visa-free entry remains 60 days, which is great news for tourists who want a longer holiday. Travelers with simple plans—arrive, enjoy Thailand, and leave within two months—have nothing to worry about. You can still apply for a 30-day extension at immigration, and in many cases an additional 7-day extension, making a total of up to 97 days under visa-free status.

Just a precaution:

Under section 41 of the Revenue Code an individual Thai citizen or foreigner who lives in Thai-land for one or more periods totaling at least 180 days in any tax (calendar) year is, for tax pur-poses, deemed a resident of Thailand and subject to tax on all assessable income derived  from sources within the country, whether paid within or outside Thailand, and on assessable income derived from foreign sources to the extent that it is brought into Thailand in a year in which income is received.

You're a bit behind the times.

If you have the funds and is 50+ years old, a non-immigrant O-A visa would do, as you can keep your funds in a foreign account and get 1 years stay upon each entry within the visa's one year validity-period; however, you'll need a health insurance, which on the other hand is always good to have.

The alternative is, as others mention it, a sort trip out after 90 days and a new visa exempt entry with 30-days extension.

Which would be cheaper than a 6 month course of the soft options for a DTV.

Can we do 2 x visa exempt 60 days and 2 x 30 days extension if we  re enter by plane,i am not sure abouut extension 30 days and 7 day, somebody can explain, thank

This is very smart indeed.

But be careful with the crypto account that you are holding in a country that is not your home country (Thailand).

Rules may change and not being Thai could end up in losing your money.

Just my two cents.
