Thai ladyboys are urging authorities to address actions by a foreign man who recorded them without permission, posing questions about their gender. The man shared these videos on social media, prompting offensive comments. The incidents mainly occurred in Thailand's red-light districts, especially Pattaya.

The ladyboys expressed their outrage in online communities, criticizing the man's actions for violating their privacy. Reports reveal he used hidden cameras in smart glasses, capturing encounters and sharing clips without consent. Viral videos have not only caused distress but also attracted negative remarks, such as queries about rapid HIV testing and doubts about individuals’ genders.

Many individuals contacted the man, identified as “Yaribal” on social media, demanding deletion of the videos. However, their requests were ignored. Critics argue these actions breach Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Moreover, accusations surfaced about him using a Telegram account to post explicit content after purchasing sexual services.

Despite identifying himself online, the man’s real name and nationality remain unknown, although some speculate he may be Russian. A group of affected ladyboys is considering legal action, though no formal complaints have been confirmed. As of now, there have been no police statements on the issue.

Social media discussions reveal this is not an isolated incident; other foreigners reportedly engage in similar activities. They allegedly record encounters with sex workers, negotiating prices, and sharing the footage publicly without consent. These actions raise further concerns about privacy violations in Thailand, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • Thai ladyboys demand legal action against unauthorized video recordings.
  • Accusations suggest possible breaches of Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act.
  • Other foreigners reportedly conduct similar invasive activities in Thailand.

Then I'm sure enforcement will be swift and efficient as is typical in Thailand.

This can't be true.

There is no prostitution in Thailand.

as far as i know, you have to ask permission first, from the person you want to film

A bunch of ladyboys having a hissy-fit about some guy deceiving them... see the irony and hypocrisy here? Filming inside a place of commerce may well be illegal here, but I don't think filming in the street is, hence never any action against the thousands of Thais that film anything they want whenever it happens some place. This all sounds like an issue that comes under a trantrums & tiaras crime/statute.

in LoS it is perfectly fine to shoot anything anywhere, just don't invade their "private dwellings"

that what nice police officer (maj+) told me so during Chinese New Year celebration at China Town BKK.

If you are defaming and humiliating the individuals, I guess they have a case against you.

But the guy is probably using 6 VPNs ... I guess the authorities would need to go after the VPN companies ....

Drama queens? 😆

Work must've hit a low spot when these " gorgeous " ladies have to resort to this. Maybe the streets aren't as busy as a normal late November so there's no one to rob at night

I believe laws in Thailand allow filming in public, but you cannot go up to someone and start filming them without their consent.

He will be well gone by now if he had any sense.

If you are a women or a transsexual working the streets, you already have had to come from a very vulnerable background to force you into that position - most likely economically, but also sometimes a life gone astray with years of abuse growing up.

The last thing these ladies need is for someone to go up to them secretly record them, engaging in private talk about prostitution, and then post it online for the world to see. Even just ethically it's a really craapy thing to do. Those women have lives too, parents, family members. They may well be vulnerable down trodden but you have no rite to take the biscuit of them or mock them like this.

or maybe just some young rather stupid guy thinking it's fun to record and post this?

IMO dangereous business, with a good chance to end up with some serious injuries if not worse.

Something that no one has ever claimed to be the case.

These videos are tacky; the guy should be punched in the face.

Its still an invasion of privacy given the nature in which the videos were posted both sexualising and insulting the women / ladyboys in questions...

Imagine been in a 'entertainment area' and some twosser was going around asking people in the area if they are 'mongers' or not ?...  Personally, I'd take his glasses of his head a snap-em !!! (being a keyboard warrior and all)...

I don't know what 2x twonkers gave you a thumbs down there - your post is spot on.

Anyone walking around a public area filming should be doing so respectfully of others, or if engaging specific people, doing so with full permission and transparency - anything else should result in confiscation of equipment and fines...

... YouTubers and TikTokers are great for tourism and the spread of information and great new venues, restaurants and areas that are worth visiting - but the dark side of this are those who use people to present 'smut' and 'nasty' content at the cost of the people the abuse and take advantage off - this latter 'group' need to be challenged and dealt with.

It won't be long before someone puts a camera in someones face and they are dropped.

We see these same ayholes in the UK and US - First amendment right activists etc and total twoankers such as Charles Veitch who believe they are doing good but instead are deliberately inflammatory just for views - they even have body guards now so deliberately triggering is are their actions - they really need a good kicking.

But surely you grasp the irony he was making - there was no need to wander so far down the neurodivergent spectrum and take him quite so literally....

The irony, of course, lies in the Thai authorities' endlessly puritanical stance when they conduct their Pattaya 'raids' and then proudly proclaim to the media that there were "no signs of prostitution"...

No. Many civilized countries have privacy laws. France and Canada are two of them.  USA has variable state laws.

well yea, filming may be legal, though whether it's legal, or ethical, to distribute on the internet images of an individual without their consent may be another matter.

would you be happy someone filming you as you go about your day and posting, with comments, on the internet?
