A Thai woman from Udon Thani is seeking public assistance to find her British husband, who vanished after the Loy Krathong Festival in early November. Phavika Hutchinsan, 56, filed a missing person report at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station on December 1, concerned about her 60-year-old husband's safety. She approached the media, hoping that the public could aid in locating her husband, despite not disclosing his name.

The incident dates back to November 5, when Phavika’s husband left their home with their dog, Archie, on an electric tricycle. He did not disclose his destination and has not returned since. Phavika, who mentioned a peaceful two-year relationship, worries he might have met with an accident or been misled while alone. She remains hopeful, knowing immigration records show no sign of him leaving Thailand.

Phavika’s late police report has led to online scepticism, with netizens questioning why she delayed action for almost a month. Some express disbelief at her lack of urgency, suggesting they would have launched a search immediately. Community members have also provided mixed responses, with some supporting Phavika and others speculating on her husband’s possible motives for leaving.

Looking forward, Phavika encourages anyone with information to contact her directly at 089-879-7441. As the search continues, authorities may extend their investigation to cover wider areas, while the public remains engaged. The situation highlights the challenges families face when a loved one goes missing, prompting broader discussions on safety and communication, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways:

  • A 56-year-old Thai woman's British husband has been missing since early November.
  • Scepticism arose due to the delay in reporting the disappearance to the police.
  • Immigration records confirm he has not left Thailand, intensifying local search efforts.

It would be better if he left Thailand, as then she would know he´s alive. Very few persons go missing 1 month will be found alive.

Last option: The guy just went out of his tricycle, left the dog, changed name, took plastic surgery and are now happy staying with a 25 year old.

Thanks for this VERY uninformative speculation, Shylock!

Highly suspect. My wife would totally flip out and be in complete panic mode if she didn’t hear from me for more than a day, she’d call the cops and everyone she knows to conduct a search, if she didn’t then she’d be guilty of my demise.

The situation highlights the lack of care she had for the man. To wait a month to try finding him shows a complete lack of care or concern. My wife would think i found another woman or ran off to escape the marriage if i disappeared for more than a day without contacting her in some way.

It would not surprise me if this Thai woman conspired to rid herself of the man to get his money.

He is in a wheelchair. Thailand is not known for being handicapped friendly so he would not have been able to do a lot alone.

check within the battery range, can't be that difficult.

My missus would be ringing all our friends in a few hours and be beside herself by the next day.

Why would she wait a month ?

He left after a loy krathong festival so I'm guessing it would be dark then . This would maybe lead to him possibly being wiped out on some quiet road by a vehicle that didn't see him until last minute or was speeding and they have hidden his scooter and body .

Or insurance job if he had life insurance. Did they try tracking his phone location or last known signal ping area 🤔

Why wait a month to report him missing that would be my first question something very dodgy me thinks

Exposes his wife to a 3rd degree interrogation. Then you will learn the truth!

Maybe then enough of him will be found so that he can be properly buried or burned.

However, I would like him to still be alive.

What happened to the dog? Dogs usually fine their way home???

Yes, that would be the normal reaction. Many moons ago, I sneaked out of the condo while the missus were visiting her mother. Somehow I ended up in a hotel room in Sukhumvit.

While drunk and sleeping suddenly they called from reception in the early morning and said your wife is on the phone and demands to speak to you! She had traced med down by calling every hotel in Bangkok she reckoned I might be hiding in 😆

If I were the cops I would definitely question the wife seems very very highly unlikely a Thai woman husband goes missing for over a month before she reports it doesn’t pass the sniff test TIT

Phavika, who mentioned a peaceful two-year relationship

I find it rather suspect that she felt the need to slip that in.

Strange we have the name of the dog but not the name of the disappeared husband. Regarding his intentions that day, he took his dog Archie with him. Brits generally are fond of their dogs. Could have been taking the dog for a walk, or could he have been seeking an alternative life with another partner, plus his dog. Anyway, hoping against hope he has not been harmed.

Hard to see him making a dash for freedom (at 4 km/h) on that motability scooter.

Where's the nearest disused well / mine shaft / sink hole that the loving wife told him was her favourite spot to get away from it all.

So she waited a month and still didn't provide his name to help find him? Poor guy (and Dog) is going to be found in pieces isn't he.

Just check for the TM-30 that he filed wherever he ended up - that's an absolutely foolproof way to locate any foreigner in Thailand 🧐

Left home in his wheelchair with Archie, his pet dog. No Hubby, no Wheelchair, no Archie!! Now she reports missing 26 days later!  What amazes me is that the wife is now asking the public to provide information of his whereabouts that she already knows. Really? How far coild have wheelchair Hubby and Archie have gone that night.

Yet here I am.

You feel like I can give you a bad name. Probably not same nationality, and we don´t know each other. How do you figure that?

Just scroll on and continue to be yourself.

Because that's what her boyfriend at the police station told her to do.....?

Not necessarily. If one wanted they could rent a cheap room and do their tm30/90day reporting to that address and be living with their new squeeze elsewhere.

FWIW, this is a little further down in the linked Thaiger article:

One woman claiming to be a neighbour wrote that rumours circulating in the community did not match the details Phavika gave to the media. She expressed sympathy for the missing man and speculated that he may have simply moved elsewhere to feel more at ease.

Two other women, also believed to be neighbours, accused Phavika of being “sharp-tongued”. They suggested her harsh words may have driven her foreign husband away.

She may have given him time to recharge the battery, for his return :whistling:
