SkyFlyers Ride Sparks Noise Complaints at Asiatique

Residents living near Asiatique The Riverfront in Bangkok are expressing anger over noise disturbances from the new SkyFlyers ride. The ride, part of the recently launched Jurassic World: The Experience, is a towering 135-metre attraction known for its 360-degree city views. Locals allege that the constant loud screams from riders are especially disruptive during the night.

Asiatique, the riverside shopping and dining complex on Charoen Krung Road, has promoted SkyFlyers as one of the world's tallest rides in its category, with international safety certification from TÜV NORD of Germany. While the mall highlights its safety credentials, the surrounding community feels their concerns have been ignored. Many residents have taken to social media to share their frustration, noting the ride operates until 11 pm, impacting their sleep and daily lives.

One resident shared a TikTok video showing the ride in action late at night, expressing exhaustion over the prolonged noise. Another local pointed out on social media that the noise feels like screaming above their heads, calling it unbearable. The mall's Facebook page has been flooded with similar complaints, with calls for solutions such as reduced operating hours or relocating the ride.

Despite the backlash, some supporters argue that noise is an inherent part of amusement parks and highlight Asiatique’s role in boosting local tourism and businesses. They suggest that residents consider the mall's broader economic importance and exercise patience.

The social media team at Asiatique has responded to a few comments but has not yet issued an official statement regarding the ongoing noise complaints. The situation continues to develop as locals await a formal response and potential action to address their concerns, reported the Thaiger.

Because that's where Asiatique is.

Because it's mostly a night time venue. Jeez.

Probably difficult to have a wharf redevelopment half way up the Sukhumvit.

The location is fine - and what a dumb comment about being open in the evening..................maybe change opening hours in Patpong and Cowboy as well???

Did those same locals not complain when a concert is held at Asiatique - music banging out until 2.00 am

Other shoe: If you had paid good money for a house or condo near the river where you had lived peacefully for decades, would you want this in your backyard???

It's a great ride but should be in an unpopulated section of the river where there's still a great night view of the city. Nobody's going up there when it's 37°!

Really?  Are residents getting residual checks from Asiatique?  How are they benefitting from the mall's broader economic importance?  What a joke.  99% of residents have nothing to do with the complex and just want to live their lives without the constant noise being foisted on them by inconsiderate business developers.  Another reason why owning in Thailand is a very risky bet.

I'm sure they knew exactly what they were doing, but the problem is "they just don't care". That sort of mindset is pervasive throughout Thailand, and it is simply part of the culture. Nothing will ever be done about it.

A large number of housing developments were built and sold after Aisatique.  However, there are a lot tht were here before.  There may need to be a solution worked out for the ride's closing time.  BUT really, that is all they can do.  ASIATIQUE is a business that needs to turn a profit.  Jurassic Park is new, so it attracts a lot of people.  I feel sorry for those that are affected by the noise but think the only thing they can do is buy ear plugs LOL

It is staggering how little people care about others quality of life.......when it comes to making a buck.

That is the biggest problem in Thailand, people don't care and no wonder if you can do as you want because the RTP is not enforcing any rule or law.. It makes the society the survival of the fittest. Last week there was a cremation in a temple about 1 km  or more from my house and the music they played was so loudly that I had to close my door and to put the sound of the TV up..Although it was mentioned that make low noise because of the late Queen and even more in a temple, as you could expect that the abbot would ask to lower the music.. But nothing happened and it too 4 days... just an example that nobody cares.. I n my country the police would confiscate the whole sound installation and give a huge fine... but here... nobody cares which makes the country a wild west.. No wonder people shoot eachother as the RTP is never coming in action only when pocket money is involved

Put gags in the mouths of the riders.  Market it as:  "You'll scream so loud in terror you'll need to be gagged!"  Problem solved.

Just change to operating hours to 10pm. And everyone should be fine. Worldwide, 10pm is a common time to shut down noise activities that could disturb others.
