    Unions killing jobs again

  • Thailand should take note of western countries where the unions killed industry!

  • What a ridiculous demands.. I worked in a bankoffice for 26 years and we got paid a so called 13th month salary in December  as a bonus. So a 5 month extra payment and a extra 12k is very generous. Ok

Many Big Thai companies like PTT, Chevron, Thai Oil, and many others pay very generous annual bonuses, including gold for long serving staff, to their staff, pretty much in line with what Daikin offered, this is nothing more than a Union rattling their fist - which in this case is biting them in the erse!

Gold when it was 28k a baht and before the boomers retired was ot a juge thing.  However when you have gold at 65k and more people retiring it gets really expensive and could make it chaper to go to other countries.

Thais have to realize that their wages have gone up due to the government, a baht is no longer cheap. companies have expenses.

The union will keep fighting and decide to stay where it is in negotiation and in 6 months will wonder why Daikin has moved to Vietnam.

We all saw it in North American with the auto industry of the 70's that wanted the huge retirement and the full medical coverage.  The big 3 went out of business declaring bankruptcy.  Plants closed so that they could produce the parts in China.

Unions used to have a presence now they need to look at safety, lay offs and maybe looking after it's retireees medical care to a point.

Give up the retirement plans and high wages..

Jobs just move abroad so it's bad for employees, union officials get paid well though so they don't care

Ok the monthly wages are not so high, but the union could better focus on a higher monthly wage instead of the big bonus of about 62k in 1 time..And 3 Baht gold for people who work for a long time is totally over the top. When I celebrated my 25th work anniversary I got an extra month paid on the day and I could have a dinner for 10 people. But Thailand is greedy and nobody has ever enough...

It is perfect that Daikin propose that if the workers and or union are not satisfied with this generous proposal they could better find a new job or company that will have better conditions.

did i read that the workers urned 10000 a month !!

Time for a good hard look in the mirror ... too many on this thread who really have no concept.

A post mocking a member for having a differing political opinion was removed. Please debate politely. Thank you.

It is only the staff that are Union members that are locked out/suspended without pay, non-union members are still working, and Daikin are hiring new staff daily. Daikin wont be going anywhere,
