Cambodian forces opened fire at around 05.05 in the Chong An Ma area of Nam Yuen district, Ubon Ratchathani province, using small arms and indirect-fire weapons. Thai forces responded under the rules of engagement using similar firepower.

The Thai response targeted military bases and supporting weapon positions, including an air-strike by F-16s.

No mention of Cambodia attacking with its miniscule air force.

So is Thailand not following the ROE?

Cambodia has been using drones. F-16s have been used to destroy a drone factory and a cable car that was being used to transport weapons to the border area.

Is it really a warzone ??

Neither side has actually declared war.

If they do, that would see Cambodian workers deserting Thailand probably never to return.

And as for tourists, doubtful if their itineries stretch to the border areas. But if war is declared, tourists travel insurance will become void as they will be seen as visiting a war zone

Look at it from the tourists viewpoint.

Russia-Ukraine had not been declared a war.

Israel-Palestine has not been declared a war.

The Korean police action was never declared a war.

Just cross border bombings in the tourist temple areas is enough to put people off.

Don’t expect trump to get involved again. As he vaingloriously demonstrated in KL in October at the peace accord signing it was all about him portraying himself as the great peace negotiator in his desperately futile attempt in getting a Nobel peace prize. Well now he has one, albeit in the most pathetic attempt in ass kissing from Fifa president Gianni Infantino with the inaugural, and probably the last, award of the Fifa peace medal.

This Type of incident happens when the government tries to distract from other issues and look at the billions wasted to save face when that money could be better spent on those who suffer and are desperate for work and food, rather than bombing and killing innocent people, and all of this down to a former Thai PM who called the Cambodian leader UNCLE

Total khrapp - Thailand does not recognised UN ICC or their authority over land border decisions - they did not defend or participate in any 'court trial' and because of their refusal to support the UN ICC, the decisions have come down against them - which Thailand rightly has ignored.

The corrupt Dictatorship ion Cambodia hated how Thailand assisted in the shut down of their scam and gambling centres, which had been making a lot of money for them.  This border dispute is their method of deflecting from all the criticism, both internally and externally, about their regime.

IMO Thailand will eventually run out of patience, and if not already doing it, they will align with the CIA to remove the Dictatorship - initially be decimating the Cambodian Military and then through targeted 'aid', support an overthrow of the current regime by the local Cambodians who have been fighting them for decades.  Then the 'deal' with the new Govt will be negotiations and agreement of the borders, and Cambodia formally withdrawing all UN border claims and recognising the agreed new borders.

You are quite correct @TroubleandGrumpy, What you have written after "Total khrapp" is excatly that. Like most people you obviously cannot be bothered to do the reading, but the ICC Reports from 1961 and 1962 contain all the necessary information, including the Thai defence, and the reasonings behind the judgement. When the French and Thais agreed the border in 1907 the French were tricky, but the Thais didn't pick it up and accepted the position for 50 years, sending the French produced and printed maps to many foreign countries. When  the Foreign Minister in 1907 was a Thai Prince, it is probably hard to explain.

I think I will find some more peacefull place to live.

Earlier this year we had to evacuate for many days.

Worrisome and sad it have been like this now.

You will be safe as the heads up display system which also controls where the bombs etc will hit was developed in the UK by Marconi Avionics, I wrote some of the software at the time and saw it working from a pilots point of view as we saw the videos of it in action with real bombs etc being used.

But hang on, who are the pilots flying the F-16s along the border at the moment .......  erm yes I suggest you move asap.

I’m an experienced bicycle traveller in Southeast Asia — especially Thailand — and I’d like to know if it’s currently possible to ride on Route 348, which links Sa Kaeo or Aranyaprathet to Buriram and passes through Tha Phraya National Park. Has anyone taken it recently?

Clearly you have a problem - both with reality and Thailand.  I suggest you leave Thailand if you are here as you obviously have 'issues', and I also suggest you seek more details on the reality of a situation before speaking absolute tripe.

I agree with you, follow the money. The casinos, scam call centers and scam internet centers right on the Thai border. But I don’t know about Trump’s CIA, he seems support dictators since he is trying to be one.

Dont agree about Trump, but the old 'follow the money' certainly applies in this situation.

Thailand launched airstrikes

Yes indeed. Reference Khmer Times 9/12/2025

Shocking details have emerged of the targeting and killing of Cambodian civilians as they travelled in a bus early this morning.

Two buses were targeted by Thai soldiers using drones at midnight on December 9, 2025, killing two people at Bridge No. 8, Road 56A, Thma Puok District, Banteay Meanchey Province. Images have been released of the damaged vehicles, targeted despite clearly being civilian vehicles.

How are China and Vietnam positioning themselves in relation to this fighting?

  • Popular Post

Elitists create a war and the bombs get dropped in the poor innocent people. Target the people who created the war to end the war, not the watermelon vendors and the schoolkids and the people who have nothing to do with it.

I want to know what Cambodia would gain by attacking Thailand...it seems illogical... but I can see how Thailand would benefit

No idea but Trump just said at a rally that he is going to make phone calls because its got to stop.

Thanks, and to be honest, nothing. Cambodia is responding to Thai military aggression to protect its Sovereignty.

Khmer Times 10/12/2025;-

The Cambodian troops continue to fulfil their duties to defend Cambodia’s territorial integrity, according to a press release issued yesterday.

The Cambodians actually believe that propaganda sh!t I suppose.

You can't fix stupid.

A battle of egos.... nevermind the disruption to neighbouring residents and tourism.

No recent experience, but maybe have a Thai Speaker call the Highway Police on 1193 and they can tell you, hopefully.

Ps: Stay away from Lahan Sai and Ban Kruat *fork after Non Din Daeng towards the 2120* as there is fighting near there.

According to flight radar, flights from Air Asia and Thai airways took off in the last 24 hours from Siem Reap to Bangkok. Strange No ? And at least one from Air Asia landed at 11.03 AM from Bangkok...
