Cars that drive slow in the right lane drive me nuts

They "can", i.e. they have the physical ability to do so, obviously, but they shouldn't; no civillians have the authority to block a lane just to self-righteously impose a speed limit on another motorist.

So you're saying if a car is driving at the maximum allowed speed they have to speed up and brake the speed limit, to keep traffic flowing?

Daft post. Especially the first comment. Why bother writing all that fluff? Did you take your meds this morning?

  • Slow driver in the right lane playing it safe as to avoid motorcycles on the left, especially the ones with no lights at night. Why bother, relax and take it easy. He’s letting you know

I move over to the left lane and stay a safe distance behind that slow mover. Within seconds a Thai driver will arrive in the right lane and sit a couple of meters behind that slow mover until it is f

No, I didn't say that.   They should move over when they can, though, they're not there to enforce laws by obstructing other traffic especially when they're breaking the law also.

But if that car is driving at the maximum speed allowed by the law, surely those behind him flashing their lights are just driving too fast and should slow down?

Fully understood. It's just that in my time here I've witnessed 3 violent incidents, 2 arising from light flashing and 1 from tooting. As we all know these guys are laid back most of the time but when they snap all hell breaks loose.

Light flashing here can lead to big trouble.

Probably the only way to weed these knuckleheads off the roads is to not be giving such advice.

Yesterday I was driving in Isan on a newly paved 2 lane highway. Slow driver in the left lane. Slow driver in the right late driving next to each other basically. I was behind in the right lane waiting patiently and nothing happening. The driver in the right would not move faster out of the way. So I flashed him a few times. Nothing. Flashed again and then he put is brakes on. This dead brain driver thinks he owns the road. I was a bit pissed by this stage. Flashed again and he moved over slowly.

It made me really angry and I drove on past. He was basically holding up all the traffic behind and unsure why he was playing this game.

In this situation do you flash the lights the same as me or what do you do.

I find it a windup driving on the roads here. Or maybe I have anger issues?

It's the same with three-lane roads where you're allowed to drive at 120 in the right lane, and then someone drives at 100.
Theoretically, you're not allowed to overtake him on the left, because the speed limit on that lane is 100.
But Thai people simply assume that the universe revolves around them, so who's going to stop them?

Driving right lane , road all clear, 110 km/h, going up hill.

In the really last light of sun, I saw a silhouette, didnt trust, went to left lane.

And that was a good decision ! A wreck driving slowly, not any lights !

I will not repeat what came out of my mouth then.

Sabai Sabai

Agreed!!!

I had this problem yesterday afternoon, driving south out of Hua Hin city towards Pran Buri - several dozen cars driving in the right lane at about 70 kms/hr in an 80 km/hr zone.  Lots of vehicles passing them in the left lane, but none of the right lane drivers changed lanes.

Just move into the left lane and go up the inside like the locals do but you have to be carefulto  dodge the white posts

yes I agree. Maybe they are just brain dead and have no clue at all.

you are probably right. I am hot headed. What would you have done if a slow car in right lane is driving beside the slow car in the left lane- basically blocking the traffic behind at 80 in a 100 zone. what would you do?

What is your hurry? Were you bleeding out on the way to the hospital? Were you being chased by gun blazing road bandits? Or it because you are an impatient road rager and little things in life bug the hell out of you?
