Lazada and Shopee - which one you find better ?

Featured Replies

I've been using Lazada for along time and mostly go there out of habit.

Recently been having problems with sellers lying misleading and downright scamming..

So I turned to Shopee, I was surprised to see in many instances they are actually cheaper.

Whats your experience and preference ?

Oh and I also heard they were the same company, apparently thats false.

No. Lazada and Shopee are not the same company.
Ownership and companies behind them
Lazada is owned by Alibaba Group, a major Chinese e-commerce and tech company. It started in Singapore before being acquired by Alibaba.

Shopee is owned by Sea Group, a Singapore-headquartered tech firm with backing from Tencent (a large Chinese investor). It launched later than Lazada.

Haven't used Lazada for quite a while. I find most Shopee shops to be responsive and positive when any issues arise. I've had missing items sent, unacceptable items fully refunded and in the few unresolved disputes, Shopee siding with me and giving a full refund.

Find Shopee slicker and often has free shipping, albeit can’t usually find stuff on there that is on lazada. Caught out just the once with lazada and dodgy seller (from CHINA) who suspiciously cancelled an order. A right old mare getting the money back from lazada’s wallet system.

I prefer Lazada for big-ticket items as the returns are easier if there is a problem. I use Shopee for less expensive items.

Lazada used to be my favourite but after many orders cancelled due to not being sent and refunds appearing in my bank I started using Shopee

I find it much easier and usually cheaper

It is easy to withdraw from your Wallet using the phone app. Not possible online PC.

Last Lazada order was filled and used " sellers own fleet " ordered on 27th Nov. between then and 8th of December I contacted the seller to ask if there was a tracking number as I wanted a rough idea of the delivery day so I could be at home.
Three times the answer was " be patient your order is on its way " . Which told me nothing .

The following day I got a message , " your package has entered Chinese customs and is on the way "

It finally arrived on the 17th December.

I have been using Shopee since.

I would normally default to Lazada for the big stuff but the last return for a delivered smashed TV was slow and painful with 3 repeated failures to pick up and a time out.

No preference now, I simply Compare both including any delivery fees. Cheapest wins!

Just cannot get into Lazada any more, all the different things stopping me even though I have made my order, it is not me, I have been dealing with Lazada for years. It used to be easy but now it is absolutely dreadful.

What issues do you have, Lazada is spot on for me.

I find both to be great, and my 'go to' for shopping online.  If can source at local vendors, I'll peek online first, if cheaper at 'official or flagship' online store, simply order it, unless need right away.

Returns are no prob, on both platforms.

Saw an item hanging at cashier yesterday, that reminded me we need, for ฿250, quick search on phone, found for ฿94.   Except for food, due to shipping added, most things are cheaper online, with few exception.

Food is cheaper as well, all including shipping, use the app shipping free and discounts.

340gm Scottish Blackcurrent preserves = 100bht

1Kg of cream crackers = 120bht.

450gm Edam cheese = 160bht

3x 120gm of Cadbury's bubbly chocolate = 245bht

Ribena 850ml = 150bht

Shopee. They seem to be better at weeding out the scammers. They refunded me twice within minutes when I received junk, and didn’t even require me to send the junk back to the seller.

Yeah, but they didn't close the scammers accounts.

And they're hoping most people won't bother asking for refunds.

Family/Friends/Work colleagues.

Today was exceptionally busy for some reason.

I have tried time and time again over the past 3 years to get a Shopee account, but they keep putting obstacles in my way. What is it with them?

I mostly use Lazada and on the few occasions I've tried to use Shopee, I find it difficult to login because the site details, which include my login link, are more often than not, "offscreen" so unable to be used – – and don't ask me why because I tried so many times to rectify this and a couple of times have been lucky, but god knows why!

They would not acccept my email address after it being the same for more than five years, they gave me all the fancy puzzles which I completed without success. I then used my phone number and they sent a four digit code to my phone. YIPPEE! Success at last. Are they deliberately trying to lose customers?

Use only Lazada. If there was an issue I always could return and got my money back mostly in about 2-5 days. Even 2 smashed solar panels, no problem

I search for the stuff on the PC and put the item into the cart. The order itself I make on the phone, as checking out automatically opens my mobile banking app with all the datas filled out.

I've switched between the two over the years, but currently Shopee is much better for me. Lazada has become expensive all of a sudden in comparison. Some sellers are on both platforms which is handy, but Shopee is a lot cheaper recently, especially with the 10% or 20% off vouchers. The coffee I buy is currently over 100 baht cheaper because of this.
