Chon Buri Immigration officers arrested eight foreign sex workers on New Year's Eve at Pattaya Beach Road. The arrests were made following reports of these individuals aggressively soliciting tourists, impacting the city's tourism reputation. The operation, led by Pol. Maj. Kittiphat Hongchuwech, involved an undercover agent who confirmed the illegal activities before officers intervened.

Authorities zeroed in on the area between Soi 13 and Soi 13/4 after receiving numerous complaints of public nuisance caused by foreign women. The operation led to the arrest of individuals from Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Madagascar, who were charged under the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act B.E. 2539 (1996). Each was fined 1,000 baht for soliciting and causing a public disturbance.

The suspects were taken to Pattaya City Police Station for further interrogation. Their residency permissions in Thailand were revoked, and they face deportation to their home countries. This action aligns with local efforts to maintain public order and uphold the city's image as a family-friendly tourist destination.

Moving forward, Chon Buri authorities plan to intensify inspections and collaborate with local businesses to prevent similar issues. Officials have also emphasized the need for continuous surveillance and enforcement to deter illegal activities. The crackdown reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and attractiveness of Pattaya as a key tourist location, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • Eight foreign nationals were arrested for soliciting along Pattaya Beach Road.

  • The suspects will be deported after legal proceedings and fines.

  • Pattaya authorities will increase efforts to prevent similar incidents.

There were 8 of them? The undercover agent who "confirmed their activities" must have absolutely been on his chinstrap by the end of the night!

From the Bangkok Post's report on this, it states they used "an undercover foreign agent posing as a tourist" for this sting. Typically, this is a foreigner who has been arrested for some sort of misdemeanour locally, and some being detained at Nong Plalai jail. They agree to participate in these operations in order to either getting released, or a reduced fine, or getting fast-tracked to IDC ahead of deportation.

Several years back, a friend of mine was busted in his bar for selling snus. A young, scruffy and nervous farang came in asking if he could buy some. When the deal was done, the cops rushed in and arrested him with the marked notes as evidence. My mate was a tad suspicious as the kid didn't fit the usual description of a buyer and was acting cagey.

A Tourist Police volunteer. Why do you ask?

A couple of months ago some guy were walking around and filming the girls standing along the Beach road asking were they came from. I was surprised because there were almost no Thais and he asked many, many more than 8, so Idon't understand why this is big news. The police should be able to pick up dozens of them every day.

You could go to a Russian knock club on walking street for years, police turned a blind eye, African girls have been on the streets in Sukhomvit and Pattaya, Phuket for years, I've seen police working traffic right in front of them, so the blind eyes have been blind for many years.

The Russians used to rent whole floors in small hotels, even had there own discos, these seem to be gone nowadays but a small hotel i stayed at in Pratunam had a floor rented and a disco room for Russians, the owner was a good friend and gave me a tour one day. So it's probably been happening since r and r days from Vietnam.

I know this is off topic, but please bear with me. I had to comment on this after seeing these girls faces covered. Back in the UK pictured in a local newspaper, there is a thief being caught on CCTV robbing a till in a hotel while the desk was unoccupied. His face is covered like the girls in the photo.

What sort of mentality is that? Isn't the UK a first world country? What was the point of a CCTV if it is going to blur the faces of someone committing a crime? Crazy!

I keep on hearing these reports about these deep concerns about preserving the reputation of Pattaya, it's pretty silly stuff because every single person that visits the place knows about it's reputation and either they are families coming there for fun and recreation and they avoid the zone, or they are single guys coming there in search of action.

So there's no such thing as protecting the reputation of Pattaya, in the war on sex is a bit like the war on drugs, it simply cannot be won. The more you fight it the more goes underground. And the reputation is already soiled to the point where it's beyond repair.

The police just had to look at the many walking beach road videos on facebook to see this lot soliciting 🤔

Thai girls who are soliciting for sex on Beach Road are regularly rounded up, arrested, then fined a small amount and let go. It's not an imprisonable offence, and a rather pointless exercise! These foreign girls can be deported.

The authories keep on about people tarnishing the good reputation of Pattaya

What planet are these disillusioned people living on 😱

Ok I think I got it now. There is no THAI prostitution in pattaya.

Why do people insist on posting this nonsense?

So in the same mop-up exercise they arrested 87 ladyboys .... ahem ... ladies of the third gender and some 2'781 Thai "ladies of the night" who, upon proper screening and recounting, only 2'278 Thais and 503 ASEAN citizen from Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines? These figures, by the way, are all invented and not based on anything but sarcasm and irony!

What is the purpose and usefulness of such articles? Thailand has no prostitution and only non-Asians are smearing the pristine immaculate reputation of Pattaya? Less of such stuff might help to dim the light over the actual picture!

IMHO, I don't understand why foreigners would use foreign prostitutes in Thailand, Thai prostit^tes are so cute and so sexy . . .

There was a load of these ladies turned up in samui before a few years back and they would hang out in just normal drinking bars . Out of about 8 of them 2 were actually good looking , think they said were from Lagos .

They didn't seem to stay very long though as around 6 months later the whole lot of them vanished. Probably moved to Pattaya for more business.

They had a weed bust last year in Siem Reap using that technique.

That Uzbek girl looks hefty. Clearly for the Indian tourist market. Also, they should ban Africans from Thailand
