A foreign motorcyclist has sparked criticism from Thai netizens after a video surfaced of him repeatedly revving his motorcycle engine on a road in Phuket. The incident occurred on the night of January 3, but the exact time and location remain undisclosed. The footage, initially captured by a Thai witness, was shared online and quickly caught the attention of local media.

In the video, the foreign motorcyclist, dressed in a black T-shirt and shorts, is seen on a red motorcycle. He stops briefly on the side of the road, revving the engine multiple times, which produced white smoke that disturbed nearby traffic and pedestrians before speeding away. The incident has ignited a backlash on social media, with many criticizing the tourist for disregarding traffic laws and creating a public nuisance.

This event has raised questions about the effectiveness of Thai law enforcement in managing foreign tourists' behavior. Some netizens expressed concerns over the current screening measures for foreigners entering Thailand, urging the government to implement stricter policies to attract more responsible tourists. Coincidentally, another foreign motorcyclist in Phuket was also caught on video ignoring a police stop and evading a checkpoint on Patong–Kathu Road.

Both incidents have led local residents to demand action from police and relevant authorities to prevent such behavior. Despite public pressure, police have yet to detain the motorcyclists or announce any legal proceedings. Recently, similar incidents involving foreign motorcyclists breaking traffic laws in Phuket have resulted in fines for both the riders and the Thai owners of the rental vehicles, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

A foreign motorcyclist in Phuket has faced public criticism for reckless behavior.

Social media users are questioning the adequacy of law enforcement and tourist screening in Thailand.

Police have yet to take formal action against the motorcyclists involved.

Both riders have no helmet, the cops have the plate numbers, why is it so difficult for the cops to find them and fine them at a minimum!

The rental company most be very pleased with a customer like that.

Trace the plate and find the idiot...

The condition of motorcycle and truck exhaust silencers in Thailand is also a major annoyance to many residents. The Thai police could win lots of brownie points and kudos if they were to apply and enforce the law relating to both vehicles and sound limits.

Where I live in Soi Khao Talo, Pattaya, the problem is getting out of hand with motorcycle shops actually modifying exhausts to make them louder!

Even in nanny state Australia, nothing seems to be done about motorbikes that vastly exceed any reasonable noise limits, so I don’t hold out any hope for Thailand.

This behavior by motor-bike riders goes on all the time, around the clock in Patong. I've never seen police pulling this lot except for the usual helmet & licence checkpoints. As far as this carry-on goes Patong is lawless.

He's just disappointed he didn't get a BJ like the dude in the other Phuket story.

"BJ now, or I revv my engine till they can hear it in Mecca!"

He would impress the bar girls much more by walking into a girly bar with a massive bulge in his trousers, that would impress them much more and get their attention.

They just love guys with massive bulging, throbbing, full to the top, ready to burst wallets. 😆

Thai's do this all the time but it never makes the news,

Because that's called police work.

They have no time for police work. Too busy visiting their mai noi whilst on shift.

I hate it when I get a massive bulge in my trousers!

Now if only Trump would do what was suggested in another thread and start printing $200.00 bills that would surely reduce the bulge in my trousers!
