ICE CAN determine whether protesters are interfering with their performance of their duties, however. They CAN arrest people who obstruct them or assault them too. ICE doesn't have to wait for local cops to clear protesters from the street if the protesters are obstructing ICE vehicles, or push them out of the way if they are blocking the entrance to an ICE facility.

The mistaken attitude that "ICE aren't really police" is insane. Probably contributed to Renee Good's death as well. Simply declaring "ICE has no authority over US citizens" is stupid.

I think you are correct, briefly stated, ICE does not have the authority to deport or enforce civil immigration detention against confirmed U.S. citizens. That's black-letter law — citizens cannot be deported, and ICE's core civil enforcement powers simply don't apply to them.

ICE agents are still federal law enforcement officers, so they have some broader powers:

• They can briefly stop/question people (like any cop) if there's reasonable suspicion of a crime.

• They can detain or arrest U.S. citizens for criminal matters — e.g., assaulting an officer, interfering with federal officers (18 U.S.C. § 111), obstruction, or other federal crimes.

• In chaotic enforcement scenes (raids, traffic stops, protests), agents sometimes briefly hold citizens for investigation (e.g., to verify status or rule out interference), but they must release once citizenship is clear.

In short: No broad "authority over" citizens in the immigration sense, but yes in limited criminal/self-defense scenarios.

Maybe something like "Bring the Heat; Melt the ICE" would galvanize the opposition decent people have to the fascism and thuggery brought by Trump and his goons. The murder in cold blood of Renee Good can be the focal point for actually making America great again.

ICE agents have legal authourity to arrest and detain anyone, anyone who is interfering with their duties. She was obviously interfering, as multiple video clips show. So she was in fact disobeying a legal order from law enforcement. Which means she shares at least some of the blame as to what happened.
