A Thai man’s plan to propose at a major music festival in Phuket was derailed after his wallet and a diamond ring were stolen during the EDC Thailand 2026 concert, with losses later confirmed at hundreds of thousands of baht. The incident came to light on 18 January after unauthorised credit card transactions triggered bank alerts, prompting an urgent search for the missing items and police involvement.

The case first drew public attention when a Facebook user named “Acare Alice” posted an appeal for help on social media on 18 January 2569. The post included three images showing a ring and a wallet, and stated: “Please help us by sharing this. My boyfriend Acare was pickpocketed at the EDC Phuket event. The thief took his wallet and a diamond ring engraved with the name Acare&Golf, which is very important to us” The message quickly gained traction, with many users sharing it, offering encouragement, and expressing sympathy.

According to the victim, Mr Golf, he and his girlfriend travelled from Chiang Mai to attend EDC Thailand 2026 in Phuket, arriving inside the venue at around 9.00pm. While standing in the crowd, he heard repeated notification sounds from his banking application. On checking, he discovered that his credit card had been used for purchases totalling approximately 300,000 baht.

He then inspected his chest bag and found the zip had been opened and his Louis Vuitton wallet was missing. The stolen items included his and his girlfriend’s national ID cards, a driving licence, a diamond ring valued at about 300,000 baht, 2,500 baht in cash and several credit cards. Mr Golf subsequently filed a police report at Cherng Talay Police Station.

ThaiRath reported that police informed him that such cases are difficult to resolve unless the suspect attempts to sell the diamond ring, which could provide a lead for investigators. Mr Golf explained that he had carried the expensive ring because he knew there was a proposal zone inside the event and intended to surprise his girlfriend. He has now asked the public to help share information so the ring and, in particular, the identification documents can be returned.

Key Takeaways

• A wallet and diamond ring worth about 300,000 baht were stolen at EDC Thailand 2026 in Phuket.

• The victim realised the theft after bank alerts showed unauthorised credit card spending of around 300,000 baht.

• Police say recovery may depend on whether the stolen ring is later sold and traced.

Bit ridiculous to bring a such expensive ring to a festival... Secondly how can he prove he brought this ring, and of course in such a small event already several problems, this one and the other article an Indian man who collapsed .. What will happen on Tomorrowland end of this year???

He most likely has a receipt.

the receipt doesn't tell if he had really the ring in his possession when he entered the venue....brought... not bought

Ah, yes. True. But if he didn't bring it with him and tries to use it or sell it that will come out. Wouldn't be very smart, but then again, criminals are mostly not smart enough to avoid getting caught.

Maybe the perps saw Mr. Hiso pull out the Louis Vuitton wallet which put a big target on his back.

Hopefully have a travel insurance covering theft to a certain amount.

But guess need have receipt for buying.....
