Expats who are bored

Featured Replies

Today I watched something very sad about people particularly in the seniors age group

And people ask me why I don't retire to Pattaya / Thailand... because you are bored ...bored expats who regret retiring there ,

Watched a YouTube video of several young British men being arrested for fighting in Pattaya ,but they were not violent they were compliant with police they with handcuffs on made to sit whilst a crowd of older farangs watched

That's not the sad part ....the sad part was the crowd around them with their phones out taping it....the majority yes the majority were farangs OVER the age of 50 , phone OUT ,standing in a crowd, ok it was mixed with looking European farangs but nevertheless the majority were old farangs

I must ask why you people interfere or even have an interest in other people's lives ?

Are you that bored that much time on your hands you need to STOP and video tape something that has nothing to do with you !!!

Several times in Pattaya doing my studies I have been "interfered" with

I once taking pictures of the spa baths on the balconies of a condo in Jomtien standing opposite on the road

A old british guy in one of those mobility scooters was driving up the road towards Jomtien , he stops " what are you doing mate?

in a abrupt tone !

"Minding my own business " I said as I continued to take pictures of the spa baths

Are you that bored as an expat you must stop and interfere in other's lives ??

This is why I don't want to retire as of yet and move full time

Your all bored , bored of life

Admit it please

You must interfere in other's business

And you still meet other farangs like that .....I was in that sports bar in Soi Bukhao last October when I overheard two farangs whispering and laughing to each other about another customer who was with clearly a ladyboy

I mean who cares ?

Maybe I'm a City boy born and bred so I have no interest in what others do , get a life !!!

I don't, but you sure do seem to have an interest in other people's lives. As your posting point out. Not that I believe or ever read many of them.

There goes the alarm, back to the kitchen, bread is done 😃

Get yourself a life cooking instead of being concerned about matters that have no interest to you

Thankyou for your service Sir and I hope the bread is delicious

You criticise them for filming it , yet , you watched one of the videos on Youtube .

If they hadn't have filmed it, you wouldn't have been able to watch it .

They watched it live, you watched it on youtube

It always is, and the house smells great.

"sad part ... people w/phones vid'ing" You're not thinking that, everybody or thing isn't video'd where you are and put on the internet. Welcome to the 21st Century, do try to catch up.

Holiday suggestion ... stop going to Patts, as theirs a whole country here to enjoy. Plenty of P4P, every major tourist attraction town, though may take a bit more to find, Just ask any tuk tuk or taxi driver where to have fun at.

You might end up enjoying one of your trips here in TH.

Basically agree,

Would add that many may retire too early without a plan,

consigning them to isolation, as a lonely bar stool welcomes them to retirement.

Yes very sad

Of course there's those who have no choice but to retire to Thailand because of finances and they end up in a 21sqm old room in the flybird condominium

But these even those who retire newly divorced etc and live in a nice condo building and after awhile become lonely, bored and miss their family friends life back wherever they came from

Funny how this inane lecture about minding your own business in life is coming from you, the one standing in the middle of the street photographing private balcony hot tubs, listening in on farang chatter that has nothing to do with you, sniffing around other dude’s arses in sports bars, and diligently tracking what every other bloke is doing on his holiday. All while reminding everyone else to mind their own business. You genuinely could not script this stuff.

Why not just go there to have a good time and mind your own business instead, like every other normal person does? All those posts about conducting studies, making lists, and doing research in Pattaya do not exactly scream sociology. They lean more toward enthusiastic hobbyist busybody. Who is all this research for anyway? Your floor mopping buddies back at the sanitarium?

It is not exactly a secret. We all know what you are really going there for is your late night Beach Road cardio routine with a very specific mixed gender focus. And those meticulous “research lists”? They read less like field notes and more like possible client rosters for the transnational gay escort network you might be quietly running on the side.

Probably best to just drop the bored expat sermon. Drop the cover stories. And remember to pace yourself when the real ladyboy fieldwork begins. I would hate to read about you tomorrow on AN, another geezer caught in the middle of a large ladyboy cream sandwich, too much excitement for the old ticker, and the research tragically cut short.

People have been rubberneckers from the beginning of time. If you remember the Romans watching people kille ach other, you'll know people being hurt is s spectator sport. The only difference is now everyone has a cell phone, and some love to tape things, even though they may never watch them again. Ever see people slowing down, blocking traffic and sometimes causing accidents, after an accident happened? All of us have. Some slow down and interfere and some just give a glance and continue on their way. Morbid curiosity for some. Sadness watching others for others. Some, like the Roman spectators, love seeing people hurt and are disturbed thinkers.

If you're a person who doesn't understand how to initiate things, you might blame others for making you bored. Thailand has very little to do outside the beach areas unless you like gardening and nature watching, although there isn't much of nature here besides snakes, birds, lizards and dogs. This is why people get bored if they have hobbies they can't do here, so it's always best to stay, or move back to, a place where you're comfortable.

Quite possibly all of the OPs posts are simply faked windups too. No real trips to Thailand. No real lists and research. Just watching bottom of the barrel Pattaya videos on YouTube whilst on his breaks in the janitor closet, then hammering out vicarious commentary about trips to Pattaya that were never actually taken, except those inside his own bored mind.

I must object to that slanderous statement with regards to such an upright poster on AN.

I do believe, sorry think, that he may have come to Pattaya/Thailand once with his mum and dad in the 70's and still reminisces about that trip to this day as he mops the floors in the OZ hospital or maybe the OAP home he is in!

Yes, it is entirely possible he went to Pattaya once many years ago with his babysitter, fell in love with the excitement, and has never had the opportunity to return. Since then he has relied on secondhand stories of Pattaya misery from mates who went later, along with the worst YouTube videos he can dig up, all to convince himself that he does not actually want to go back. To complete the fantasy, he posts dreary and ridiculous topics about visiting Pattaya to conduct studies on bored, lonely, and depressed expat pensioners, complete with spreadsheets and imaginary research grants from National Geographic. Meanwhile, most of his days are actually spent in a supply closet in Oz with a pile of old mops, debating whether they deserve replacement or can survive him pushing them through one more round on the hospital floors. Thus, writing these windups probably gives him the sense of fulfillment he needs while reassuring himself that he is definitely not going back to Pattaya, no matter how many ladyboys await him or how titillating it was for him that one time.

Darl? Grown men shouldn't talk like that. It may induce vomiting.
