Recommendations: ink-jet multi purpose printer in Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Bought Brother multi purpose ink-jet about 12 years ago at Pantip Chiang Mai. We used all the functions, they all worked very well for many years, now many issues. Time for new.

Anybody recently bought a new printer with ink tanks already built in? Anything to recommend? Please share.

Epson EcoTank L3250

I have been happy with it, however you have to remember to print a test pattern every week or so to keep the printheads from drying/clogging.

You were faster.
Bought this online six weeks ago after my B/W cheap laser had "faded out".

So far really happy with it. Double sided printing. Printing and scanning via WiFi (home network).

The ink refill bottles are 65 ml and cost around 300 Baht or so.

Compare this with the tiny expensive HP cartridges (3 colors total 15 ml or so).

Printed today after about three weeks and did not have a problem.

The manual says that you should always switch off at the printer before unplug or switch off the power strip.

Price has risen 400 Baht since I ordered.

Go and see what the shops in Chiang Mai want.

Do you really need the colours or would a cheap b/w laser printer be better? If you print nothing for six months it will still print straight away without needing to clean anything. And if it 'fades out' replace the toner cartridge. And they are refillable too.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I need full colour. Four school kids in the house, often have to print some homework in colour. My Thai son continuously prepares sports coaching drawings and likes to print in colour to identify body parts / actions. Son's wife also a teacher in private school kids 12 to 14 years old. She does a lot of prepation, in full colour.

Lots of ink available much cheaper, unless you meant a pack of all colors. https://tinyurl.com/mprdv72x

It was a drag when mine needed deep cleaning after only sitting for a few weeks. I fixed it without a visit to a shop but it required time and attention. Some brands automatically print the nozzle check weekly with no attention. Epson says it is possible to set it up so you can print the nozzle check by sending an email to the printer if you are away, but I did not try it.

You mentioned ",,,Bought this online..." what printer / model do your mean and what city / shop did you buy it? Do you have any photos?

Thanks.

My Wife has 2 of these in her shop they have seen heavy use.. more than 30,000 pages printed

on the older one, they have had some problems

ink pump and the combined print head replaced at an independent shop for cheap..ish

the one thing I was disappointed about is the waste ink pad counter which will stop the printer from functioning when it reaches a set counter..(too much head cleaning)

this can be reset with a free tool but not reset to 100% for that you have to either get official Epson service or take it to the independent repair shop who use the free tool but have paid a bulk licence to do full reset..very disappointing about that but still a good printer

You can set it up offline and print with the phone app without having to be online

direct WiFi or WiFi via your LAN or of course the PC to USB direct connection.

She also has a HP printer which is a right pain to setup and use without going through their online cloud app rigmarole yucckkkk

Thanks for sharing.

Is the Epson EcoTank L3250 also a scanner.

Can you please share the purchase price (I'm assuming you purchased in Chiang Mai, but whatever location).

Yes, I have an L3150, very good, I saw them on Lazada for less than 3000bht a month back.

Ink is cheap too, I paid about 100bht for 4 nice-sized bottles. Filling the tanks is a breeze.....

Had an HP, did not make it to 3 packs of paper. Now have a Brother DCP-T420W. We love it, the WiFi connects easily to any device. Works great! I never printed from a phone before, pretty cool.

Thanks, I really like brother, bought a multi purpose printer over 10 years back, some small problems as it got older but fixed quickly / cheaply. Time or a new brother. I'm checking the details now for Brother DCP-T420W.

Is it also a scanner?

Thanks again.

Interesting... can you please confirm:

  • EPSON ECOTHANK L3250 prints in black and in full colour?

  • EPSON ECOTHANK L3250 prints in black colour only?

  • Both the L3150 and the L3250 DON'T have multi-page feed into the machine, copying is one page at a time?

  • Both the L3150 and the L3250 have scan function but it's one page at a time (NO multi-page feed into the machine)?

  • Can you please share where you bought the L3250 model and the L3150 model (city / shop) and a rough idea of cost.

  • Thanks. Answers to the above would be appreciated, to help make a decision.

  • All the information you have already shared is much appreciated, thanks.

CORRECTION TO MY MESSAGE JUST ABOVE; MORE READING AND I'VE DISCOVERED THAT THE L3150 MODEL AND THE L3250 MODEL PRINT IN BLACK AND IN FULL COLOUR.

  • So what's the difference. I guess it's speed to print but in reality very little difference in speed between the 2 models. CORRECT?

  • Also it seems that the L3250 model has a little sharper pixel numbers. CORRECT?

Mine is an L3150, has 4 colour tanks, simple to refill, I was impressed...

It has a multi-paper feed at the rear, don't know how many sheets it holds, probably 30 at a guess. It will print as many as you want, but I have personally only needed about 5 prints.

It was given to me because it wouldn't print; it had run out of ink, turned out to print better than my HP.....🤣

But, I saw my model new on Lazada for under 3000bht, usually a bit under 5000bht.

If this one packs up, I will buy another, plus, I can print via wifi from my phone...🤗

Do a Google search report on either model, it will have a more comprehensive review...🤗
