A video showing bar security guards allegedly assaulting a tourist in Pattaya has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread criticism.  The incident reportedly occurred on. Soi 6, a popular nightlife area in Pattaya, Chon Buri province, and has prompted police to launch an investigation. Despite the backlash online, the atmosphere in the area remains busy, with large numbers of Thai and foreign tourists continuing to visit.

Reporters visited Soi 6 in Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung district, following the circulation of the clip, which appears to show several guards attacking a tourist after an alleged dispute over payment. The street is lined with beer bars and entertainment venues along its entire length and was operating as normal at the time of the inspection. Many visitors were seen walking through the area and using services as usual.

One security guard who claimed to have been present during the incident said it took place. He stated that while patrolling the area, he noticed a tourist having a dispute with a group of guards wearing blue uniforms. According to the guard, discussions failed to resolve the issue, after which the tourist attempted to flee, prompting the guards to chase and restrain him.

The guard further claimed that during the pursuit, the tourist fought back and tried to escape, leading other guards to intervene and resulting in the scuffle seen in the video. After the tourist was restrained, staff allegedly advised the venue involved to contact the police. The guard also insisted that the establishment where the incident occurred was not under his team’s responsibility and that he returned to his normal duties afterwards.

Pol Col Anek Sarathongyu, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, has ordered investigators to examine the incident thoroughly. All guards appearing in the clip have been summoned for detailed questioning, while police are still attempting to locate the tourist involved to obtain further information. As of now, no formal complaint has been filed by any injured party.

Police have confirmed that they will determine the exact cause of the incident and ensure fairness for all sides. Authorities stated that if any individual is found to have broken the law, legal action will be taken without exception.

Key Takeaways

• A viral video shows Pattaya bar guards allegedly assaulting a tourist over a dispute about payment.

• Police have summoned all guards seen in the clip, while the tourist has yet to file a complaint.

• Authorities say legal action will follow if any wrongdoing is confirmed.

Typical Thai fighting... many to one. THais can't fight man to man it is always 2 , 3 or more against one victim. And this dispute could not be fixed by talking?? Violence is normal in land of smiles.

With the usual kicking while down as they haven't a clue how to use hands. I've seen violence towards children since I came here, with mothers carrying sticks with them to keep their kids in line. Thankfully the west has laws against this.

Beatings actually teach fear and that violence is the answer for wrongdoing. It;s control, and is why children go into their lives thinking hitting is the answer. It's not the same as defending yourself against harm. No explanation telling them there are alternatives and causes psychological harm. Concentrating on good behavior. The more you praise them for doing right, the more they'll do right and see the rewards. There are better ways to handle their anger and stress.

Being a good role model is talking to them and explaining why bad behavior hurts others, while hitting them only teaches power controls others, and teaching them hitting has them turning their anger out on girlfriends and wives and is the major reason men hit their partners. This isn't the same as spanking on the butt when a child does something harsh or harmful to others.

In this case, the man was ganged up by more than 3, which is a cowardly way to handle not paying a bill. reasoning and calling the police as it's their job to handle these things is the right way. That man who was beaten is likely to have more anger from this and also likely to turn that onto others himself, including a wife, girlfriend or children.

It's not preaching knowing what the right way to handle things is. Just pointing out the better alternative. Violence begets violence, as we can see in our daily lives since we're born.

A slap on the wrist is a failed justice system letting violent criminals get away with large crimes. That's corruption and incompetency. The same happens here letting young children get away with things because they are underage, which teaches them they can do whatever they want with little to no penalties. Not the same as 4 men ganging up on one like this situation.

It is news when ONLY four Thais attack a farang instead of the normal 8. It is news when all four of the assailants had the same complaint - an unpaid bill. Often the gang attack is swollen by a number of passing Thais who whale in simply because they see a farang on the ground.

Authorities should close the whole soi for a month every time this happens. But Mr. Fleurette's "commissions" are probable too good. The convict system...

Some people here obviously sit down then they pee.

This guy was shown pulling a runner on his bill and got exactly what he deserves. Those guards rarely attack for no reason. They're aware of the impact this can have on business there. Soi 6 is an adult playground where, if you play nicely, a great time can be had and lasting memories made.

I'm generally not a betting man but I would bet my bottom dollar this idiot will never try pulling such a runner again.

No, just a moral thinker that looks at women as equals and not slaves, and children as an extension of ourselves and not burdens to hit when they misbehave, which is what children do. Hitting them leads to violence in their lives , period. It's all control, kinda like men who go after very young girls because older ones have their number and won't allow themselves to be used like the younger ones will. Predators are in all walks of life, as the Epsteins, Trumps and Cosbys show. Millions more are your next door neighbors you think are nice guys.

True. From the story............ "The guard also insisted that the establishment where the incident occurred was not under his team’s responsibility and that he returned to his normal duties afterwards." Another excuse for a gang to go after a foreigner and beat him when it could have been settled peacefully. Those not even working at the bar where the man was. The title says "Pattaya guards accused of beating tourist over unpaid bill..........."Not, man starts fight with guards because he didn't want to pay a bill. Four men can subdue a man without resorting to kicking and punching, but this is the norm here.

A beating is not what this man deserved, as that's assault. Having the police arrest him, after detaining, and made to pay his bill, and possible fine, is how things are handled in a civilized society.

The more a person talks, the more you see what their thinking is, how they look at women and children, and where the violence starts. Just sayin'. If someone doesn't want to read a post, they don't have to.

This is about the only decent post in this whole whiny, stupid thread...

I am sure the guy was given many chances to pay..

.And even if he could not pay right then the bar would have worked something out...

No doubt the guy became very nasty and abusive and then tried to do a runner while also assailing the guards.

He got what he deserved...

Muay thai is mostly kicking and knees.

Yes, to one opponent in a ring or on the street. Muay Thai fighters, along with other martial artists, know how to kick. These, like all we see in videos here, are kicking like a girl kicks, and a person on the ground. In a one on one match, you do whatever you need to. This isn't a fight but a gang beating.

Its Pattaya. Full of trashy farangs and Thais.

Its the clientele rather than the bars. Really no comparison.

Yeah, I guess guards have the right to kick on people while restraining them. Four gourds, and they can´t work professional and just hold and restrain one man until police arrive.

On the other hand, that is quite easy to understand as most people don´t create problems by, for example, trying to flee from their bar bill.

They should just shut down Soi 6, it's full of the lowest dreggs of society, foreign and Thai's.

Thank you. I was at a Walking Street establishment one night and the well went a little dry. One of the girls escorted me to a nearby ATM where I withdrew what I needed to continue the night there. No drama, no problems, and we all had a wonderful, memorable night.
