I joined ThaiVisa.com to learn about Visa’s in Thailand, that was many, many moons ago, even have had a few beers and lunches in the old The Lounge Bar (defacto Thaivisa.com bar) have joined, de-joined, re-incarnated a few times since then. It used to be a wealth of information, electicians, construction engineers, plumbing experts, farmers, gardners, animal husbandry, Computer and IT afficianado’s, and of course Thailand Visa Information. It has since turned into a Barstool Commando’s playroom, a wealth of dis-information, and all around attacking posters. They could get rid of the Political forum and I am sure it wouldn’t be missed by many of ‘ole timers’ Like the efficient feature that allows you to ignore whomever you wish, and it works, got three folks on ignore and haven’t read a peep out of them. They pbly know who they are, don’t care.

I joined ThaiVisa before moving to Thailand for a job transfer. I wanted advice on places to live in Bangkok.

Just after arriving we had the yellow shirts shut down the airport, then the red shirt occupation around my new office, then the multi coloured shirts occupied Asoke junction next to my condo, then the big flood.

Throughout these issues Thai visa was the most reliable and informative way to find out what was going on.

After the transition to TrumpNow there's been very little useful information.

I joined because I was living in Thailand. I also am a member of other Thai forums.

Don't forget the rocket scientists! (like myself). I joined in early 2003 because I had just moved to Thailand - needed some visa info etc. I have never been 'reincarnated' - no reason to be, (unlike some others who were banned and returned under different monikers). Some seem to change their user name very week!

To keep up to date with whats happening in daily life in Thaialand. Will shift to live there next year.Almost definatel;y Hua Hin, golf and beachs for me.

I love it, because you can come here and feel confident that you'll never encounter any losers, angry weirdos, bitter shut ins, trolls, or lonely old drunks who clearly have nothing better to do outside of forum life.

There would be far less if you didn't start so many.

There surely are but keypads seem to infect all but a few here and transform them into hostile warriors looking for a righteous cause they can hitchhike on to become unrighteous.

I joined to see how bizarre people are. A few of them on this thread as an example.

The trick, not an easy trick, is not taking it personally :) People beat you down because they are struggling personally and best to let it go. Easy talk but I find the walk a little difficult at times.

Everybody is allowed to have a bad day at "work" but if it's 365 days nonstop annoying, better find something else to do

Nothing in life is personal. In the book The Four Agreements. People are angry cause they hate themselves.

11 thumbs down. They must have serious issues given what I wrote was normal.

Getting angry at a computer screen is irrational.

Mainly to keep up to date with any Visa developments. I still prefer to speak personally to the helpers at the immigration office if I'm unsure than rely on what I read in the follow up comments to stories though. I've found on several occasions first hand that an easier approach to what posters swore blind couldn't be done was actually successful. Best to try yourself.

Many here do get more angry than they want to realize or admit!

Me too, I definitely joined to keep updated on the latest visa and tax issues. Also to see beautiful pictures of condominiums and houses of esteemed members.

The sad thing, you came here for information, and learned that every question had 90% noise, and just a few who actually contributed, but the more noise the less sane people are willing to contribute.

And most issues can be solved by Google and learn from various links.

Still there is visa questions and now lately solar energy, EV cars that's being more interesting than anything else to follow. There is a few here now who got experience and knowledge to share.

It used to be alot more farming and property treads, and I miss those because it was the reason in first place I found this forum.

Philosophical and religious debates have also been my favorite treads, especially do you believe in God. 25% of the contribution there was actually good conversations and interesting.
