What's your favorite toothpaste in Thailand?

Featured Replies

Assuming you even brush, what's your favorite type of hydrated silica? I go with Colgate Total Sensitivity plus Gum Health. It tastes great and works well for anyone dealing with sensitive teeth and tender gums. It is not the cheapest option, usually a bit over ฿100 for a 150 g tube, but you can grab it on Shopee for around ฿80 per tube if you buy a pack of four from the official Colgate store.

Thanks, I know that brand is also known to be really good for sensitive teeth, but I haven't tried it. How does it taste?

I also use an IO series electric toothbrush from Oral-B (the kind that vibrates a lot, similar to ultrasonic) and the Colgate toothpaste seems to work well with it.

Same system both myself and wife use, works well- get a small tube for test 😀

This toothpaste was all the rage when I first arrived in Thailand. Hawley & Hazel started that brand in Shanghai in the 1930s, later operated out of Hong Kong and Taiwan, and had factories in the region including Taiwan and Guangdong in China.

But then all my teeth fell out so I haven't really needed any in quite a while. I guess they have a few other toothpaste brands now in Thailand too?

👍

I'm sure that would work as an all purpose cleaner, kitchen, bathroom etc.

Yep, the HP takes care of the bacteria, and BS keeps them white, well, as much as possible, and helps keeping bacteria at bay.

White vinegar and dishwashing liquid is a good combination. Will strip plaque off anything, including bathroom faucets. The lemon scent from the DL is a nice touch too.

We use "WAZZ", (believe it or not), a herbal toothpaste bought on the internet. Not cheap, about B100. After many years, it seems to be very effective but it tastes quite strong.

Ingredients include wasabi, clove oil, guajava leaf extract, asper leaf extract, and potassium nitrate.

Just cover 1/4 of the toothbrush - a tube lasts a long time.

Yes Gecko but OralB is a major brand, (I use their toothbrush), but imo very good.

Make sure you get one with novamin as an ingredient. That's the stuff that rebuilds the enamel.

If you like, Colgate, you can also try the Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief Complete Protection toothpaste. It costs a little bit more than the Colgate Total kind, but it's nice too. Even a bit better on sensitive teeth.

Forgot, use this also, and cheaper at Makro, than official store @ LAZ

IF concerned about sodium flouride, get the 'Natural White or Premium' version of, as having 1:1000 / 1100 ppm vs 1500 ppm, or something along those lines.

What's toothpaste? I've heard about it. Are you supposed to use it more than once a year?

The primary manufacturer is a brand called Sensodyne Repair and Protect. Many7-11have it as do the supermarkets all at a lower price than the the "drug" stores.

There is no evidence to support its benefit for the general population over conventional toothpastes that include fluoride, like Colgate. On the contrary, there are well documented arguments against its use if a person can use conventional toothpaste. The only toothpaste preparation clinically proven to help seal tooth enamel are preparations with Novamin.

Oral B's TV ad in UK is so misleading, suggesting that a normal electric toothbrush is only used 'vertically' on the tooth, but theirs gets down to the gums.

Surely it is the way you use it, not the design of the brush head.

My dentist say NO to Hydrated Silica.

To that end, Tepthai toothpaste is recommended.

I also use this for coffee-stained teeth, but I wish there was something that made them bright white again. Damned coffee addiction.

Darkie Toothpaste. We actually found a tube in a small Ma & Pa shop in Prachuap in the early 90,s. My friend bought it.

The image won't download...probably just as well. I use original Darlie all the time and sometimes Glister from Amway.

I always liked their experiments with different flavors. I brought some back to the States years ago because no one would believe anyone would make black pepper-flavored. It actually wasn't that bad.
