Oh, Tiggs... How could you? :o

God, I could murder a pint of stout now, preferably in Doney (sp?) and Nesbitts.

It's good isn't it! Had a few tonight watching the Liverpool v Chelsea match - don't mentiont the result!

Gransmothers. Wired bras, seamed stockings and hats.

Point proven and this thread is history. Start an obvious " Beer " discussion and Ping comes along and talks about old clothes for F$^s sake.

Typical Bedlam.

Oh go and take a tablet ya narky old bastard!

:o

Yeah, I saw that on the news this morning. :o

Kitsch brooches, thick coats, 'sensible' shoes and stockings thicker than my woollen socks.

My granny, God bless her.

She had whalebone stays...corsets, used to ask me to lace them up.

Must not be disrespectful, but under her vest would be a couple of empty marble bags with one marble in each.

She, bless her heart, introduced me to GUINNESS, I will be forever grateful.

"My Granny's Undervest"

My granny didn't wear an undervest; she wore a singlet. Or if it was really cold, a doublet.

And Mackeson's.

The 95th minute! I still feel sick! And I won't be watching next weeks second leg either. Watching Chelsea makes me sick. And as for Drogba?!? I'd shoot him for laughs!

Sorry, very non Christian-like behaviour.

D'you remember the old Mackeson ad back in the 60s? The old boy saying "It looks good, it tastes good and, by golly, it does you good!" :o

Great Ads,

Anyone remember Davenports ??

Great Ads,

Anyone remember Davenports ??

Hey, that was the "Beer at Home" people, wasn't it? I remember their truck used to come around once a week. I still have a Davenports bottle opener somewhere. In our family, we called bottle openers "Takoradi Spanners". My dad was stationed in what is now Ghana just after the war as part of Royal West African Frontier Force. He was at Takoradi a fair part of the time. A fair bit of drinking went on, apparently...

"My Granny's Undervest" sounds like a great name for a novel about a bunch of disfunctional guys wandering around south east Asia drinking beer.

my old employers in Brighton wanted to send me there on an assignment once :o ...I stiffed 'em an' went on another job in Chile and ended up drinkin' 'Cristal' beer and pisco 'n Seven on Avenida Provedencia in Santiago :D ...

later in Abu Dhabi I met a guy that worked on the Takoradi job...he got malaria... :D

Great idea. It would have to have some serious twists though, murder, intrigue and mystery. It wouldn’t sell if it was just a bunch of degenerates wandering around Asia getting pished and talking <deleted>! :o

My dear old Gramps was gutted on their bitter during the original moon landings. He was well ahead of his time, claiming it was all fake before falling over pissed.

Cheapest beer I have ever had......

6d, for a pint on Iberia sailing to UK, 1956.

9d for brandy, lime and soda

1/- for double whisky

1/3d for a liqueur, drambuie, cognac etc.
