Couldn't agree with you more, and If you picked her up on Union Street I reckon she would want to go the Kebab shop before going home, judging on the size of her.

I'm sure the comment was correct without correction. Just because she is fat does not exclude her from the competition, and maybe her charm and good works with children and animals will win over the judges - however I doubt it. In the same way a sports car is not judged against a pickup truck in competition, like should be measured against like. If the contest were to see those with an obvious phsyiscal disability or elderly reaching the final stages only to be turned down again and again - would that not be more ofensive than simply allowing those seeking this 'status' to compete?

In the same way some people have the internal drive and friends(?) that encourage them to join the masses in American Idol - but are devoid of any talent or skill except to provide amusment so I think Miss Surrey is making a comment about weight and beauty.

I would spectulate that waiting in the wings will be the marketing people from a weight loss programme and a cosmetics firm with contract in hand - many of those seeking celebrity are just after a better job.

There are a lot of late nights in Miss Oxford's puffy eyes - and her hair along with York's really brings out the natural beauty of Bath and Wiltshire.

I think a new section should be introduced along with swimsuit, evening wear; The 7am Unmade-up Look - the real test if there is underlying beauty or if the contest is really a measure of best make up on the night.

I can't open the contest web site link - but reading another source suggests that miss Bath is 17 years old !
