What Kind Things Have You Done...

Featured Replies

We've all done spontaneous things of which we are proud - a little glow of inner warmth. I would far prefer to read these things. Example, despite being in a bag of fruit, I stopped and changed the tyre for an elderly lady who was looking forlorn by the side of the road. What is something you have done, without prior thought, that made you proud in yourself?

Edit: I just realised my error in the thread title. Oops.

Not so much a kind thing (although I know I have done many :o), but I did learn a new word through that thread:

dreck (drk)

n. Slang

Trash, especially inferior merchandise.

It was used by The Closer when he shut the thread down.

Can I speak for Mickey? He saved a little kitten and called it Tigs. How's Tigger Mickey?

Let the CEO fire me so the Chairman didn't fire the CEO.

Too many to tell, and something I don't brag about.

cheers

We feed all the homeless animals in the neighborhood and some stay and live with us. :o

Yep, Tigger; she's fine and she'll be re-appearing on a screen near you v soon. :D

I just came back to the forum after a hectic few days at my new job. Have just finished getting my eyes all dirty reading the "Cruel Things" post. What's happened in just a few days? It's as if WeekendWarrior made it here after all. At least he was entertaining in a strange way...

Like most of the BMs above, I think we all do things now and then of which we were proud but I don't really want to blow my own trumpet. I always prefer someone else to blow it for me.

Or something like that... :o

I always prefer someone else to blow it for me.

I ain't blowin' your horn (or trumpet, or anything else for that matter) ! :o

I've done things here and there, now and then, just out of the goodness of my heart, with no expectation of a reward, and certainly no desire for publicity. If suegha ends up being right in the end, I'm still heading downstairs anyways, so it's not redemption I'm looking for either.

I've also turned a blind eye to situations where I could have helped out (nothing life threatening, but there are times when you just can't help everyone/everything/everywhere.)

I hesitate in sharing my acts of kindness as I feel that by patting myself on the back in a public forum somehow tarnishes the act. However I will share one with you....

I have been known on occasion to selflessly watch "Home & Away" (Aussie Soap) with my wife. It isn't easy but as she enjoys it I find I can muster the strength to endure the whole 30 mins. :D

I never complain even though I am being torn up inside in realisation that I'm beginning to know the characters names and am up to speed with the story lines. I really am to kind for my own good. :o

You can always consider counselling for your addiction. It's no good blaming others you just have to sit down and say "Hello, my name is John and I'm a Home & Away fan".

A couple of years back my ex wife was getting ready to move house and had a garage full of junk and unwanted "stuff". I was back on vacation and had a pickup truck so I spent a morning taking all the cr@p down to the local tip.

It wasn't a big deal anyway as me and my ex are better friends now than when we were married. :D

As an Australian who's lived in the remote north-west and travelled extensively all over the country, I know you have to stop whenever you see someone broken down on the side of the road in the country. A simple breakdown could be life threatening in the wrong place.

Aussies will invariable slow down and ask if things are OK, it's built in.

Ive given back 50 dollars a old lady dropped instead of keeping it. Other then that I have not done anything kind that I can think of? Ive had a cat before and I fed it food for free

You reckon the cat could of at least chipped in for groceries or at least helped out with the housework. :o

A skinny cat wouldn't have been any fun to torture.

:o

I don't like to talk about it but I do a lot of work for charity mate :o

Lucky guy. Perhaps you and my wife should hang out more

I would have to say im probably the kindest person in this forum

Er, right-oh then. :o

Ummm I gave my bf a head (start) for an hour! (then hunted him down with a cleaver)

I'm sure that's what she meant to say ! :o

I introduced my teenage daughter to the music of T-Rex. Kindest thing yet.

That's a good guess but, not quiet right.

I have never intimated that anyone will end up 'downstairs', but we can, all of us, end up upstairs! :D

Yes, some say you have to be cruel to be kind... :o
