I talked to Kawasaki in Chiang Mai, and they had no idea what I was on about. "Arai na ka? ER-650 mai chai la?"

:-(

You can see the Thai writing in the pictures above, looks like the real deal...

also er6n has abs and gone up in price. What with it being the 25th Ninja anniversary this year maybe they decided Ninja 650

So are we all getting 2010 models then you think? If the 2009 to 2010 upgrade in price in the N (20,000baht) is equal to that of the f , then the 2009 f should be 237k!

The blackening of the passenger handle is a nice touch. I'de like to see what the all plasma blue fairing looks like. I went by Phuket Kwakers today to check on things but they were closed. Tomorrow for sure.

Good day Gents,

I have been in the Kawasaki showroom yesterday and to my BIG surprise I have seen the er6F in their showroom. Never expected it to be there that fast....Has the Thai time-machine finaly been callibrated??

ER6F? Not realy because the salesman told me that the name had been changed into NINJA 650R.

The price of the bike is indeed 258000 Bath and a finance is available. The nice salesman will be more then happy to hand out an A4 paper with all relevant info (if my memory serves me well : 80000 downpayment and then approx 6500 for 2 years give or take and insurance approx 13000)

The new models are 2010 the guy told me with a big smile on his face...."because we(the Thai) make the bike..."

The 2010 model ER6n is now only available in geen/black and no longer in orange. (did not like it anyway....but as you know tastes differ....otherwise we would all be married to the same girl...)

Cheers guys....and keep on dreaming!!!

Ahhh...more answers only leads me to more questions!!

If we're being given 2010 models, this probably means the color scheme has changed to what is pictured, i.e. the solid color upper and lower fairing, which looks OK I guess. And hopefully the black passenger handle will be added as it is in the pictures. Other market Ninja 650R's don't have it. I was hoping it would be better than 258k but it's a lot better than 280k. What colors is the 2010 Ninja 650 R available in then? And is that the ABS version you were qouted?

Hopefully Tony gets back from Rama 9 soon and can fill us in. I am off to Phuket Kawi now and expect to get the same old "mai loo" treatment.

Very nice ! I can just see tony bouncing around his house tonight in his underwear....sorry not such a nice image :D:D

Oy! Who wears underwear?! :D

Here she is- the 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 650R ABS!

2010Ninja650R6a.jpg

Confirmed price- 257,000 Thai Baht!

2010Ninja650R5.jpg

Khun Chan wasn't working today and the other guys didn't seem to know much of anything about the bike but they said they will start delivering them this month!

The showroom model is wearing Bridgestone Battlax BT021's-

2010Ninja650R7.jpg

The sales guys couldn't tell me definitively if the new Ninja 650R's will be wearing Bridgestones... I'm not a big fan of the Dunlop Roadsmarts that came with the ER6n so I'm hoping for the Battlax's on the new Ninja.

2010Ninja650R4.jpg

The Ninja 650R that's been sold in North America has never had ABS, but perhaps for 2010 ABS will be an option worldwide.

2010Ninja650R4.jpg

Cockpit looks unchanged from the '09-

2010Ninja650R3.jpg

Everyone has noticed the painted lower fairing-

2010Ninja650R2.jpg

I noticed that the 2010 Ninja 650R has an idle adjust screw. Don't have that on my 09 ER6n...

2010Ninja650R1.jpg

The powdercoated grab bars and matching tail piece are new for the 2010 Ninja 650R-

The Kwackerzaki guys seem to think I'll be able to get my bike in a couple of weeks! :)

I got the impression today that the Kawasaki sales guys were not given much advance notice about the change from 2009 ER6f to 2010 Ninja 650R.

Also just found out that the new Ninja will be available in THREE colors- Diablo Black, Lime Green, and Plasma Blue.

These are 2009 model pics; the changes for 2010 are very minor.

Well, I just completed my order for a Plasma Blue Ninja over at Kawa Rama-9. Word is the next production run will make bikes available for delivery around the 22nd.

I got to the dealer right about closing time and there was a queue to place an order ... get 'em while their hot!

Now, if I read tomorrow that Big Bikes are allowed on the expressways, I'll know I'm dreaming.

Congrats Jim! :D

Bet you can't wait to get on a 'proper' bike! :)

Seems Plasma Blue is the more popular color. Glad to hear we're not going to match! :D

So- did they tell you delivery on or near the 22nd?

I'm gonna swing by on Monday and try to get a firm date for mine.

Let the Good Times Roll! :D

Thanks Tony. Its stunning. :D

I just need to know where to get it asap. Next week I ll be in Phuket, BKK and Hua Hin, and can order any of these places. Who can deliver Plasma Blue first?

Posted

Has to be black for me. I'm up in Issan next week so will order from Kawa dealer in Korat. Feels like Christmas :)

Whoohooo!!! :) Great pictures Tom, err...Tony. Happy days are here again!! Phuket Kawasaki told me more or less the same thing today. 257,000 baht, about 1 week for delivery, and when I asked if I could leave a 10,000 baht deposit, he said "yes." For whatever that's worth. They didn't know anything about the 2010 and Ninja re-badging so I edubicated them. :D Not sure the ABS warrants the 32,000 baht increase in price of the ER6n, but whatever. Now I just need to decide if I like the black better then the blue. If they allow a 10k deposit, I think I am going to order mine tomorrow. :D

Somebody told me the lime green (which they are calling this) is different than the kawi green. After looking at the pics, I think it is a bit lighter.

neverdie: What is "half a phat"?

Scubabuddha,

"half a phat" you are probably familiar with, just think of little scubabuddha when he goes from his flacid state to half a chubby :D ....its kinda when you go away on a secretsoi ride when u pull into one of those secret sois. It sometimes happens when looking at bikeporn.

Its one of the reasons tony has been warned so many times by the Kwakerszaki people about rubbing himself in the showroom :) & also one of the main reasons they opened a special upstairs servicing room for tony and his bikes :D ....aparently its where you get a little bit extra with you scheduled lube :D

Ok, I thought so. It's same same as a "nursing a semi." I even Googled it but nothing.

So Tony's the reason why Kawasaki has short time rooms now...good to know. lol

Just confirmed that our new Ninja 650R's will come with the Bridgestone Battlax BT021's :D

I've always been a big fan of Battlax tires and never liked the Dunlop Roadsmarts that came with the ER6n, so I'm very happy about this :D

2010Ninja650R7.jpg

Also confirmed I'm still number 1 on the list for Lime Green at the Rama 9 showroom! :D

Yeehaw! :)

ps. If you're interested in this bike you need to make a reservation ASAP! Just like the ER6n which experienced 2-3 month backorders, the demand for the new Ninja 650R is already higher than the supply. (This applies to Bangkok- other provinces might not experience such high demand. I hear Kawasaki Korat is a good place to check when everyone else is sold out.)

Happy Trails!

Muahahaha!!!! :D A blast from the past!

I imagined the old fossil died of a broken heart from his summary banishment.

Where he'd come up with half a million Baht is anyone's guess. I thought he already blew his wad on the local rock candy... :)

I'm tempted but being a newbie to bikes and a newbie to bangkok(not Thailand) I believe I'm going to pick up a Ninja250 in a few months and see what the market looks like a year 1 1/2 from now. Hopefully there some good competition cruising the streets by then.

Visually the painted lower has lifted the whole bike to a new level. It's a pleasant green that will age well.

That is an excellent idea. It's what I did and a lot of my friends as well. Riding in Thailand is pretty different and it's not for everyone. Most of my friends and I tested the waters on Ninjette's before moving up to bigger bikes. Some people start out on Phantoms or D-Trackers as well. The Tiger Boxer 250 is another cheap entry level bike you might consider. In a year and a half I'm certain the big bike market in Thailand will be bigger and more diverse than today. Suzuki has finally arrived and Honda can't be too far behind. The Ninja 250R is a fun little bike!

Went to Phuket Kwackers today. I spoke to Pongsak Bantha, the sales manager, who called me by first and last name when he saw me. lol He told me that he is receiving 6 ER6f's on or about August 16th. Two blue, two green and two black. He still thinks they are 2009 ER6f's. I think were all fairly confident they will be 2010 Ninja 650R's, but anything is possible I guess. Interesting thing is he wouldn't take a deposit. "Mai pen rai" He just told me I could have the 1st blue one that came in. lol. Only one of the black ones was spoken for. (the availability of black being another conformation these will be 2010 Ninja650R's, not 2009 ER6f's) Maybe back one is for Katabeachbum?

Katabeachbum has been sick with a fever past 2 days, so I v been sleeping and sweating all day. Even skipped the beach this morning :) Just called Kwaker Phuket, and they will confirm blue after speaking with headoffice BKK tomorrow morning. Looks like were finally there :D

I like the Ninja change. Dont need to remember all those letters and numbers :D Quite sure they will be 2010, and thats why they waited until august. Scuba did you get a framenumber for your bike today? 10th digit normally states the modelyear, and for 2010 it will probably be a letter not number.

I like the looks of black too, but I just had a black cruiser, and I m too lazy to keep it clean :D

Anyone think Kwaker can install Xenon/HID lights? and a car horn? and power socket for gps/phone? Guess I have to do it myself

Any chance of finding weatherproof side bags and tank bag in Phuket?

FYI guys. I spoke to ( or I should say, one of my staff spoke to ) the manager of Kawa in Korat today. He siad he was getting 6 Ninja 650 delivered middle of this month. He's already taken deposits for 2 black and one green model. Was surprised when he said only 5k Baht deposit required. He also said he's negotiating a cheaper insurance premium to the 13k Baht one offered at the minute.

Hey Tony do you know if the plazma blue has a blue fairing that goes all the way down. in the pic you posted from Rama 9 the green goes all the way down but on the earlier shots the coloured fairing are only hallf way down the bike.

By the way i splashed on the Givi side cases - expensive but excellent.

What are you going to do with your old ER6-n will they do a part exchange !!!

Don't you dare be thinking about a part ex Kev......... you'd look great on a Plasma Blue model........ and i could ride the black one.... sorted :)

They do part exchanges as thats exactly what I did with the 250 Ninja when I bought the ER6n. I absolutely love the black Ninja 650R but I'm not willing to take a hit on my bike again after only owning it for 6 months. I'll fit a screen on my ER6n and wait and see what is available in a couple of years. I can't buy 3 new bikes in less than 12 months as well as the 2 new cars I've bought. Big Kid in a toy shop :) . Although saying that I'll probably drop by Kawasaki Mityon tomorrow.
