PHUKET: Accused murderer Lee Aldhouse arrived back in Phuket tonight at 8:11pm, on Flight 221 from Bangkok.

Dressed in a black t-shirt and carrying his personal belongings in a large, clear plastic sack, the shaven-headed Aldhouse looked defiant and focused.

He was accompanied by a large contingent of police officers, including members of the Tourist Police and Special Operations Unit. Aldhouse was escorted from the UK by Intranee Sumawong, Executive Director of International Affairs at the Office of the Attorney General in Bangkok, and officers from Interpol.

The accused killer, also known by his kickboxing nickname “The Pitbull”, fled Thailand on August 17, 2010, three days after the murder of 23-year-old American Marine Dashawn Longfellow, whom he had allegedly stabbed to death.

He was arrested by British authorities upon arrival at Heathrow Airport, London, on an unrelated charge.

The British national is the first person to be extradited from the UK to Thailand in more than 100 years, according to Col Wichit Intorrasorn from Provincial Police Region 8.

“Prosecutors in Bangkok worked hard on this case and kept in contact with the UK government,” he said.

Col Wichit, who was the superintendent in charge of the case at Chalong Police Station while the Aldhouse murder case was being investigated, will be returning to Chalong until the case is completed.

When asked by the Phuket Gazette how he felt to be back on the island, Aldhouse replied stoically: “Wonderful.”

Aldhouse is now being questioned at Chalong Police Station. He will be transferred to Phuket Provincial Court on Monday.

British Kick Boxer arrives in Thailand after extradition on Murder charges

By Staff Reporter

Bangkok: Lee Alderhouse, A British kickboxer wanted over the murder of a US Marine in Thailand has finally been extradited back to Thailand to face charges of murder.

Aldhouse, 29, was originally named by the Thai authorities as the prime suspect in the stabbing of Dashawn Longfellow on Phuket island on August 14, 2010, and subsequently he he fled to the UK, where he was arrested at London Airport.

Aldhouse is now due to face charges in Thailand that he committed the murder after a bar fight that he said to have lost. It has taken this long for the UK authorities to consider the numerous appeals he raised against his deportation, which included his claim the prison accommodation in Thailand was not to his liking.

For the first time in history, the various courts and avenues of appeal rejected his claims and deported him back to Thailand, where the authorities took him into custody.

Plead guilty.

Then get 3 years like other Westerners who murdered Westerners here.

I can only find two cases of Westerners who murdered other Westerners in Thailand (and were sentenced for it) and they were both given under 3.5 year jail terms.

I'm sure he'll plead guilty, they'll probably give him a stiffer sentence than the others, perhaps 10-15 years, automatically halved by 50% for a guilty plea, 5-7.5 years in prison, probably back in the UK before that. Perhaps he'll be celebrating his 35th birthday with a trip back to Thailand to have a drink in a certain bar.

He seems to look a lot calmer in this pic. Maybe he's been of the roids for a while and that has had a stabilizing effect?

I would imagine that he has had qualified legal advise as to how to plead and what he can expect.

Such a sad waste of youth and an end to his Muay Thai career (not that it would have enjoyed any kind of extended run IMHO).

Justice may be served but it will never bring back the life of the victim who it would appear was a stand up heroic kind of young guy.

I really hope this stretch straightens Lee out and that the family of Dashorn Longfellow can obtain some closure from it.

Have to think the U.S. Embassy will be involved here.

Would think with such a high profile case the 7 years halved scenario might go out the window for a longer sentence, giving prosecutors some big face.

Goofball used to beat his Thai GF, I think she's going to testify against him as well as Deshawn's girl that used to work at Charlie's place.

Testimonies, 7-11 video, closed and shut case. I say he gets 15, seven years down the road back to the UK when Thailand gets tired of feeding his sorry a*s.

Him being extradited from the UK here makes it an open and shut case.

Do you think the Thais would find him not guilty after all the trouble the UK went to to extradite him here? No chance.

He knows this as much as anyone. Plead guilty straight off the bat, 50% sentence reduction.

Murder sentences in Thailand are very fickle. You get murderers (Westerners included) sentenced to 2 years, the average I see for Thais is about 10 years. High profile cases such as *fishermen* murdering tourists seem to get big sentences, police torturing people to death also get big sentences, but they're immediately released on appeal and given money by the police to help them through the tough period.

Synopsis: it could go either way. Given that the murder was only planned (to an extent) after the fight had occurred, where he can also say he was intoxicated, and it wasn't planned before their fight, it's not likely to be seen at the upper-end of the scale. That is likely to be in Lee's favor.

The Westerners who've been sentenced to two and three years seem to be similar to Lee's crime, in that they were relatively unplanned, after a fight/argument where alcohol was involved.

Fanelli - 20 years, but you cannot compare the 2 cases. Completely different circumstances.

American Fanelli sentenced to 10 years for Phuket bar girl murder

http://www.thaivisa....ar-girl-murder/

Presumably 20 years, reduced by 50% for an early guilty plea.

So a sentence of 10 years.

Correct ... plus the additional charge

"Fanelli was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment on charges of premeditated murder and an additional six months for trying to conceal Ms Pienjai’s body.

Given his confession, the Court halved the sentence to 10 years and three months based on his confession, as is customary in the Thai judicial system."

I can't help but fee that this is going to look bad for the Thai legal system in the long run.

I can see it coming right now.

If this guy gets sentenced to less prison time that any one of the foreigners ever caught with a small bag of drugs (20-30 years) then they will all look like fools in the eyes of most of the world.

Aldhouse must have had a deal to return ! Be interesting to see ...

But it seems strange on the day 2 people where released from uk prison for robbing a student in london , which was caught on CCTV , but a judge ruled it wasn't enough evidence, he may have agreed terms that certain evidence cannot be used ,

Interesting to see how this one will turn out

No doubt that Lee has been dealing with certain 'people' in Thailand too.

I keep on reading people saying he must have made a deal.

The facts are he appealed his extradition which was rejected, he wasn't able to take it to the European Court of Human Rights thus he was put on a plane to Thailand. If he could in anyway shape or form have avoided going to Thailand and to jail for what could be a good few years i am sure he would have done it.

There seems to be overwhelming evidence of his guilt ie CCTV of him stealing the murder weapon, many witnesses including Deshawns partner, his own ex-gf is allegedly willing to testify against him, he done a runner from the country etc etc...., so can someone please explain to me where his lofty bargaining position is coming from as i fail to see it.

Of course there is doubt, he has been in a UK jail, you don't have a mobile phone or internet in there its not a bastion of communication, and all calls on the prison phone are recorded as are letters, do you seriously think a legal aid appointed solicitor is going to have been doing deals with Thai police/judges for him. Or has he been sending visiting orders to the great and the good of Phuket so they can fly over for a 60 minute visit?

The British Home Secretary personally wanted him extradited, do you not think she maybe a little bit better connected, or even the US Embassy in Thailand, or do you seriously think a rat with 5 million baht (allegedly) is the man with all the right connections. The rat is a no one.

In the west the "in the heat of passion" defense is only viable if there is a very very short period of time between the event which causes the "passion" and the crime. There can be no "cooling off" period, which it would appear in this case there was.

I'm not an expat, just someone who has tried to stick to what facts we know, and someone who doesn't buy ludicrous Thaivisa conspiracy theories.

No conspiracy theories here darling. The only "theories" are the ones people make up.

He is pretty guilty and lucky not to be facing the squad from my reading of the evidence.

Now he is here to face trial, let us wait before making judgments my little pumpkin.

I for one would not have defended him.

Why are you so upset?

The man is a killer (allegedly ) so if he is guilty he'll do a year here then the rest of his time in the UK

If you want to go to court and defend him I can arrange that very easily. Just PM me.

Hahaha

So where have i defended him?

I think youve been doing a bit too much heavy drinking challenging people in a different country to a fight.

We are talking about some fool who has killed someone for no other reason then he had too much to drink and couldn't handle the fact he got a slap, and he is you threatening violence for absolutely no reason.

PS Its good to know you've inside knowledge that he will only do 1 year, i needn't bother checking the news as i've inside knowledge.

PHUKET: British national Lee Aldhouse, charged with the murder of former US Marine Dashawn Longfellow in Phuket in 2010, has confessed to police to stabbing Mr Longfellow, but has denied any intention to kill him.

Mr Aldhouse was extradited from the United Kingdom on Friday to stand trial in Phuket. He arrived at Phuket Airport on Saturday and was taken directly to Chalong Police Station, where he was charged with murder.

He is reportedly the first British national to be extradited from the UK to Thailand in 100 years.

“Mr Aldhouse is charged with premeditated murder under Section 288 of the Criminal Code, which states, ‘Whoever, murdering the other person, shall be imprisoned by death or imprisoned as from 15 years to 20 years,” Chalong Police Deputy Superintendent Jumroon Plaiduang confirmed to the Phuket Gazette this morning.

However, Lt Col Jumroon added, “Mr Aldhouse accepted that he stabbed American Marine Dashawn Longfellow, but he claimed that he did not have any intention to kill the man.”

Chalong Police this morning presented Mr Aldhouse to Phuket Provincial Court to relinquish custody of the suspect.

“Mr Aldhouse has not yet entered a plea to the court, as we have yet to hand over the case file to the Public Prosecutor,” Col Jumroon explained.

“He was in court this morning only so we could hand him over to court custody. The judge ordered that Mr Aldhouse be detained at Phuket Provincial Prison until his trial begins,” he added.

In obtaining Mr Aldhouse’s extradition from the UK, the Office of the Attorney General in Bangkok has reportedly given assurances that he will not face the death penalty if found guilty.
