A wee update on the opening of BBQ Prime Time on Soi Made in Thailand at the Pagoda Bar.

I was told this restaurant has connection whatsoever to the well known Scottish chef that used to work at the closed Jomtien location.

Still haven't tried it. I find the feel of the place kind of off putting but maybe that's just me.

So BBQ Prime Time on Soi 9 Theposit is now closed?

The oddly named ''More Than Eat'' Khao Soi restaurants on the road behind Big C Marina shopping mall and opposite the huge Chinese hotel has gone.... emptied out.

Ewan McGlashan has not been associated with BBQ Prime for about, at least 6 months now.

And that you did not try it when he was there, means you missed out Big Time.

Did he leave town? If not is he cooking somewhere else?

Panchwati
New Indian place now open
Veg. and meat

Gujrati
Punjabi
South Indian
Rajasthani

Naklua road a tad north of North Pattaya road on right hand side

Moderate prices for our market. Examples 1/2 tandoori chicken 200 and Rajma bean masala 160.

Restaurant smelled of wonderful food when perusing the menu.

People up there might want to check it out.

I didn't see anything I couldn't get more conveniently for me though.

Are there any restaurants in Pattaya that serve Laksa?  Just took my girlfriend to Singapore and she fell in love with Laksa.
No.
Secret Recipe did but now closed.
A place called Oriental Trattoria on 2nd across from Avenue mall has it on their menu but coincidentally was told today probably they'll never have it.

Just went to Central Festival after a couple months away...

The San Dominico Italian Restaurant (Pan Pan) is now gone, both the restaurant and the gelato/cake stall out near the escalator

The hoarding now say Pepper Lunch is coming in March

Pepper lunch is a chain restaurant that has meal coming on a hot plate, usually a steak or meat and some rice. They were in Central Festival when the mall first opened all those years ago and left within months of opening due to lack of customers. The first couple of years at Central see many Japanese chains pack up: There's Mos Burger and Japanese Curry only restaurant the comes to mind.

will the independent non-chain/non tourist trap restaurant struggle to survive in Central?

Kasilong Lanna Northern Thai restaurant in Tree Town has a temporary issue. There is some kind of major paving/construction going on nearby and as previously mentioned as this is largely an outdoor eating place, the smell is really awful. It was intolerable at their street level outdoor tables but OK on the roof as there was a breeze and they had fans going. It might depend on the direction of the breeze so people might want to wait a while until that nearby work has been done and dried. The construction has nothing to do with the restaurant itself but it's so close that they are impacted.

Da Cionso & Claudio Italian Restaurant
Soi Buakhao

I know this moderately priced (not cheap) Italian restaurant has it's fans for it's pizza and pasta, but I'm mentioning it here because they seem to have a "daily special" posted that's always the same dish. It's a Milan style polenta dish served with some kind of red meat mixed grill. For anyone that's missing the polenta specialist restaurant that closed on Pattaya Tai, there's this now.

Not quite a "Hit and Run' topic but I thought it would be the best place to ask as its food and restaurant related. Sometime ago there was a B-B-Q restaurant called "The Fish" on a soi just past Big C on the right (2nd road). Does any body know of a good alternative.

My wife used to really enjoy eating there and at 299 Baht (all you can eat) my pocket enjoyed it as well.

And I would like to know if anyone knows a place that serve good Goi Cuon (Vietnamese “summer rolls”). Fell in love with them on a trip to Saigon a while back but there's never been a lot of Vietnamese food on offer in Pattaya. Hopefully I've missed a couple of places.

No.

The Vietnamese food situation here is atrocious.

Try Soi Yamoto, 2nd Rd end. I forget the name of the place, but it is a Viet restaurant.

I don't think that place is there anymore.

Anyway, I think they were mostly about selling the Thai-ified popular  with Thais Viet dish -- nam neung.

Excellent Vietnamese food, especially the rolls can be had at Saep Der on Pattaya South Road.

Can not see it being any worse then the smokers that they tolerate.
