Global Warming ? Not In Cambridge

Featured Replies

In ten days the clocks are changed in the UK to British Summer Time (BST).

I'm looking out of my dining room window at the moment and it is SNOWING !!

We are promised heavy falls of snow over the coming week, and I have just commissioned a builder to put up a garden wall. If the temperature stays around zero until Easter (sic) this may have to be postponed.

I believe it was here in Cambridge, at Anglia Ruskin University, that the figures were 'massaged' to prove that there was a threat of global warming.

(AR University is not a part of the real Cambridge University, but, like the Open University, has a presence in Cambridge)

It's climate change, not global warming very very few peer reviews have refuted information that the climate is changing. Give denying disagreeable facts a rest, try reading something

Now it is called 'climate change' because the original scare-mongering about 'global warming' has been debunked. It's called 'spin' and is used more and more frequently by all manner of people trying to make money out of Joe Public when their original scam is exposed.

Of course the climate is changing - it changes on an hourly basis. It also changes slowly over the millenia by a degree or two upwards, then a degree or two downwards - taking a mean of temperature (or rainfall, or wind velocity, or whatever) over a period at specific times and dates and at specific locations.

As accurate record keeping has only been possible over the past several centuries, and really accurate measurements only over the past couple of centuries, then we have to rely on projections from tree-rings and other broad-brush analyses for earlier ages.

All that has been shown to date is that climate change is a cyclical phenomenon and affects the whole planet. Major influences are more likely to be found in the oceans, which cover two-thirds of the planet, than in any man-made disruption. We are still a small set of animals on the surface of a very physically active world.

I am not against people developing new ways of producing energy - we need it. But wave power, tidal generation, solar power are all more constant methods of generating energy than using the wind - which needs more energy-consuming support services than the energy produced by the windmills.

isn't. I did a lot of translation French to English on this subject and there is no doubt about the fact that climate change is occurring. Why do you think so much has been spent on taking cores out of the Antarctic ice? There are many more parameters that can be extracted from other sources, we have more than tree rings and written records to look at. The cycle that you are talking about is well overdue (next ice age should be happening now, the cycle is has been around 140 000 years for a long time) and all of these statistics are in accord with rising carbon emissions. At first it was slash and burn, then charcoal production, now the graph is going up at a precipitous rate. The ocean is absorbing a lot of carbon dioxide, making it sour and so changing the environment for many plants and animals that don't have the time to adapt. One day the ability of the oceans to absorb will be used up, climate change is indeed a cyclic phenomenon, but the cycle has been put out of balance for a good few thousand years now.

Or am I wasting my time, maybe you are a troll. I hope so.

Trying to argue with someone about the reality of climate change is like trying to debate whether the moon is really a hollow alien space ship. Conspiracy theorist will always believe their theories no matter what evidence is given to them to the contrary.

If climate change wasn't real then we would not have ice ages, so for anyone who says that climate change is fake is saying that the well documented evidence of ice ages is fake too. In fact we are still technically in the last ice age which is why we still have ice caps.

What has happened is casual conspiracy theorists are confusing the conspiracy of "man made global warming" with the very real climate change that our whole solar system is going through.

For a no spin no BS take on the facts check this video out and follow Suspicious0bserver's channel every day for his news which is interesting.
