The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Pheu Thai Party attracted the biggest donation in August, worth Bt9.1 million, followed by Democrat Party, according to the Election Commission of Thailand.

The Bt9.1 million sum was donated by OAI Leasing Co Ltd, a company owned by former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s daughter Pinthongta.

Individuals and companies must declare their names when donating over Bt1,000 to a political party. They are barred from donating over Bt10 million to a political party in a year.

The commission’s data showed that in the month, members of Democrat Party donated Bt1.465 million to the party.

Donation to the Forest Land Reclamation Party amounted to Bt1 million; Cooperative Power Party Bt444,500; Bhum Jai Thai Party Bt300,000; Matubhum Party Bt120,000; Dumrongthai Party Bt95,000; Chart Pattana Party Bt40,000; Social Action Party Bt5,000 and Civil Peace Party Bt5,000.

What a credit to Thailand! A young, hard working entrepeneur with a social concience. Imagine how difficult it must have been for her to develop a successful company at such a young age. When she had time to develop an interest in politics, while she had her nose to the grindstone, is beyond me.

Have you ever heard of a better way to launder money in your life.

The forest reclamation party? Funny how it seems that so few of these parties continue to exist come election day....

That money came directly from Thaksin and if anyone believes different, you want your nuts tested.

Nepotism is a bad thing in any organization , this donation is so disgraceful, it is not worthy of a reply. bah.gifbah.gifbah.gif

So, they are calling political payroll payments "donations" now days?

How long have you been in Asia? Family-owned businesses are the norm in Asia, especially in Chinese communities and in India, Japan and Korea. For example, look up 'Chaebol' in Wikipedia. You might be surprised to learn that Hyundai and Samsung are family-run businesses (and the president of Hyundai Heavy Industries was elected to S Korea's national assembly). People have to stop thinking that the Western way is the only way. That said, Walmart is still 'run' by the Walton family (the Chairman is the son of the founder). And go look up who the executive chairman of Ford is (hint: his surname starts with F and ends with D).

Civil Peace Party might spend their 5.000 Baht on a nice and civil peace party? drunk.gif.pagespeed.ce.hfErN2aQEE.gif

yes and she will expect nothing in return

right ?

wink wink

I wonder how much is donated to parties across the board that doesn't get declared?

And you lot would all be complaining if she was your "better half", right?
