Suthep vows to stay put inside Finance Ministry

BANGKOK: -- Protest leader and former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban vowed Tuesday to stay put inside the compound of the Finance Ministry although the government has declared enforcement of the Internal Security Act throughout Bangkok.

While walking around to greet demonstrators inside the ministry's compound at 8 am, Suthep said he was not worried by the government's threat of legal actions against him and other protest leaders for leading protesters to encroach upon the government's property.

He said he had no plan as to whether to lead protesters to move around Bangkok Tuesday.

ISA in Bangkok and other provinces to be enforced until December 31 : NSC

BANGKOK: -- National Security Council Paradorn Pattanatabutr said the enforcement of Internal Security Act in Bangkok and certain neighbouring provinces would be intact until December 31.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Monday announced extension of the special security law to cover entire Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani’s Lardlumkaew and Samut Prakarn’s Bang Pli to deal with the pro-government protesters.

School bus crashed with about 30 injuries

LOPBURI: -- About 30 students and teachers were injured when a school bus with more than 40 students rammed into the middle of a CPF factory bus which is making a U-turn on the road from Lopburi to Singburi province at 7 .30 a.m. today.

All the injured students were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals in Singburi and Lopburi with some of them in critical condition.

Witnesses said that the CPF bus was making a U-turn on the road in Muang district when suddenly the school bus coming in full speed ramming into the middle of the bus.

Public sector feeling the effects of current political unrest

Bangkok, 26 November 2013 (NNT) – The tourism and travel industry has voiced its concerns over the current political unrest, pointing out that foreign travelers have begun to cancel their planned trips to Bangkok.

According to President and Managing Director of the Dusit International Hotel Group Chanin Tonawanick, the industry is becoming increasingly uneasy towards the situation in the capital, as more foreign travelers have canceled their planned trips to Bangkok.

However, CCT Group President Vichit Prakobgosol, reported that the ongoing protests had marginal effect on the Chinese tourism market in Thailand, given that under 10 - 20% of Chinese travelers, depending on the tour companies, had reportedly canceled their trips to the Kingdom - the reason being that most Chinese travelers were accustomed to Thailand’s political unrest.

As long as the protests do not turn violent, the Chinese government probably won't issue a warning against traveling to Thailand, added Vichit.
