Perhaps this is a silly question, but is there a way to turn off the headlamps?

I pass through a checkpoint nightly that requires vehicles to douse their lights. It would be nice to be able to comply. I will not suffer for not complying due to my position but...

Simple: Turn the bike off and the headlight goes off.

Have done that if there is no line behind me.. Slowing a queue not knowing if there's a General behind you is less than ideal though!!

Posted

Yes, we do not live in an ideal world.

It takes about one second to restart the bike.

Those generals must be very twitchy!

If it is a big deal for you, you can have a mechanic install a switch.

Do the other bikes passing the checkpoint dowse their lights?

have they shot at any headlights yet?

better still, it will be another great money spinner, as there's the impression the cops are always now out to Fine as many bikers as possible, for whatever reason they can 'imagine'

It isn't a police checkpoint. It is the entrance to RTA housing.

What is a RTA housing?

All newer bikes can't turn their lights off by default, so if anybody complain just tell them that it's not possible.

Don't turn your engine off at night man, it can get you into trouble quickly.

It isn't scary but at least the duty officers are armed. I never bothered looking in the guard shacks or the gate offices.

"Don't turn your engine off at night man, it can get you into trouble quickly. "

How?

I turn mine off every night.

I think letting it run all night would be problematic for sure.

Just about everyone in Thailand knows that the lights cannot be switched off...except jd, I guess.

How the other bikers at this √point are dousing them is a mystery to me.

You are clearly not smart enough to read between the lines.

Don't turn your engine off during riding at night I meant to say.

Why should it be a problem to letting it run all night, please explain??

Ouch, you got me there, man!

I get dumber every day.

I can see how turning an engine off while riding, day or night, might be bad,

but turning it off while stopped at a security check point seems innocuous.

To answer you question:

If I left my engine run all night (while I slept or partied ) it would be a waste of fuel and idling all night might carbon up the plug...not sure.

Now if I were riding the bike all night, I'd need to turn it off at the fueling stations, for safety and to comply with the law.

I hope this explains my contension well enough for you.

This fat boy runs surprisingly fast.

As fast as the much lighter Nouvo SX, which has same displacement.

More power ya.

How de do dat?

"ratio of the gearing"

Doesn't actually have gears as it uses CVT.

Seems to be 14.1HP.

http://www.evi.com/q/10.55_kw_to_hp

That number might be true since the bikes goes OK although the ratio of the gearing might be a greater reason.

It's not fast but faster than BKK traffic.

Maximum power Yamaha Tricity

8.1 kW @ 9,000 rpm can anyone explain how to get 10.55 kw from Tricity both Yamaha 125cc engine scooter. Thanks.

Yamaha EU lists 8.1kw or 10.86hp.

So where did you get 10.55kw?

Frankly I don't understand what or why you are asking since this is a commuter bike.

If you want more power look at the earlier pages about the bigbore kit.

Haha, yes "Gearing" was just my terminology about pulley ratios although technically there are gears in the final drive in most auto scooters but they are never modified.

Thanks for reading between the lines,is this some electronic tuning without the bigbore stuff.Thanks.

only slightly higher compression and 0.8cc less than the Tricity, so must be in tuning.

Wonder why this engine wasn't used in the Tricity or SX?

According to Vietnam Yam site it says the SX puts out only 7.78 kW, so maybe the Thai Tricity has the same.
