Market just rallied up a little on the news. So did the Baht

This is short time & normal reaction.

Today:

1 = 45,1 bahts

1 USD = 32,4 bahts

1 £ = 55,0 £

If the peace comes back, the baht will strenght and the xchange rate from nov. 2013 should quickly re-apply.

Right now the set index is raising about 1 % from -1 %
The set is down 2.47 on MOTOROLA

All red. No green

Sent from my SM-N9005 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

It was down 1% at the opening and now gain about 1 % means it raised 1% :) Edited by carstenp

The lunatic SUTHEP failed to accomplish anything so the courts held a judicial coupe AGAIN. If u can't win an election let the courts give a guilty verdict on trumped up charges. Let's see what happens now.

Ah, another Constitutional Law expert idiot rears his ugly head . . . are you denying their verdict? on what grounds?

You might want to actually take a look at the Constitution one day so you can understand it a bit better . . . sorry though, no pretty pictures to color, only words:

http://www.asianlii.org/th/legis/const/2007/1.html

Soo.....as you appear to have read this thoroughly but appear to be short-sighted or typically one-sided in your debating prowess...here're a couple of crackers from said Constitution....

Section 72. Every person shall have a duty to exercise his right to vote at an election.

The person who exercises his right to vote at an election or fails to attend an election for voting without notifying the reasonable cause of such failure shall be entitled to or lose the right as provided by law. The PDRC therefore also violated the Constitution by blocking candidate registrations in the south and preventing hundreds of thousands of people from voting.

Rights and Liberties in Education

Section 49. A person shall enjoy an equal right to receive education for the duration of not less than twelve years which shall be provided by State thoroughly, up to the quality, and without charge. So again, when the PDRC mobs thought it an idea to shut down 900+ schools and vocational colleges in January - that was in line with the Kingdom's Constitution?

Anyway, now that Yingluck is out, let's see if your Dear Leader now turns himself in to hear the charges laid out before him on a variety of issues, including - no less - insurrection.

Firstly, I'm no big fan of Suthep, and if he has broken the law then he should be punished for doing so, in the same way that the red shirt leaders and protestors have been punished for the 2010 riots.

The one thing I will give Suthep big credit for ... exposing the numerous and consistent lies and deceptions that Thaksin and Pheu Thai have perpetrated over the past decade or so.

I'm sure Suthep will turn himself in on the same day that Thaksin comes back to face his charges.

The trumped up charges argument won't wash I'm afraid.

One politician in the family being nailed by the courts for malpractice might be considered unfortunate. Two could be considered careless. Three is downright damning. But four probably qualifies for the Guninness book of Records.

Thaksin

Somchai

Yingluck

Surapong

But there are a couple more to go.....

Actually it's already five..... I forgot about Thaksin's neice, Chinicha.

What about the Shins though. They almost make the Medicis look like the Waltons.

Is anyone really surprised by this pre-determined decision? I doubt it. Now it's just a matter of who will be next in to lead the govt until the election

I think Abhisit would be a good choice, as it would enable him to oversee his reform proposal.

Abhisit !. The same un elected fella that was controlled by suthep. In his short spell.

Suthep don't need to be PM.

As for the post talking about civil war.

It's something us people who live here do not want to see.

However. That is the word on the street.

The hornets nest has been stirred up.

Relax. The Red Shirts won't do anything without being paid.

Abhisit is the only one that can bring both sides together.

If this court were impartial and consistent, it would have removed just about every Thai prime minister since the year dot for similar reasons. This is judicial theatre, not democracy.

Did anyone sue those prime ministers?

What was the reason for the court to find them not guilty?

A sad sad day when a few biased court judges can bring their country to the brink of civil war. They should be sacked and put in jail seeing all the misery and death that they are ruthlessly bringing to their nation in the name of power.

what did you find biased about the ruling?

The very fact that the whole judiciary are supporters of Suthep and the Democrats. Something like Caesar judging Caesar. The whole sorry saga is nothing but a Judicial coup. They dare not start a Military coup. coffee1.gifrolleyes.gif

This case was decided long before today, obvious when the court started putting restrictions on Yingluck. Anybody with even half a brain could see what was happening, however you could'nt , so where does this put you ?

On a brighter note, her life will have improved on three counts.

More time for shopping,

A lie in tomorrow

and she gets to claim 3000 THB a month for the next three months in unemployment benefit.

So it's not ALL doom and gloom.

" Deputy Prime Minister Pongthep Thepkanchana, one of the most senior of the surviving Cabinet ministers, is expected to take the helm of the government as new caretaker Prime Minister. "

As the country is slowly absorbing the implications of this - having Chalerm and Surapong out, for example, is a welcome piece of news - there is still no official response from Pheu Thai, or of any of the other political factions. Nonetheless, it seems clear even at this juncture that Pongthep's name will be quickly ushered forward. No one should be at all surprised at this, of course. Pongthep is the obvious Thaksin pick. ( He's also one of the few still standing ). Pongthep is Thaksin's link, because Pongthep functioned under Thaksin when he was prime minister. He is also known to be the richest of all the cabinet ministers, amassing a wealth of 3.85 billion baht. As we have yet to hear from all of the participants in this drama it is way too early to see how all this will pan out. But it is nonetheless an extraordinary day.

The arrogant elite are so out of touch with reality if they think they can once again hijack the democratic process and not suffer any repercussions.

The red shirts will not surrender this time. It's not like 2010. Now they know they will never have their political rights recognised unless they fight to the death.

well, let them fight to the death - an effective cure against stupidity and violence

Hang on to your dollars the baht is going to drop like a rock. My Thai friends are out buying gold this afternoon. Look for a run on appliances and food. Gas and rent prices to rise. None of this is good for Thailand no matter what side you are on.

Dream on. This was best that could happen to this country, getting rid of this thieving group will improve the Thai economy.

"The best that could happen to this country". You actually believe that? LOL!!!

STEP BACK FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY ! facepalm.gif

Show the people you REALLY care and step back now, instead of clinging onto power.

How many independent court decisions with clear verdicts does one need?

It is clear what happened, abuse of power, as proven time and time again.

Work out a plan with Abhisit, side-lining silly ol' Suthep and make a Business cabinet

of both sides of the divide. Put mainly business oriented people in, not so much

political. Let them make some just decisions to get the economy started again.

Find common ground. Both YL and Abhisit should NOT JOIN that cabinet. Can stay

on as party leaders and be useful in handing over information from the back benchers.

Let them, meanwhile, together with the senators and feed-back from the parties involved,

work on some electoral and constitutional changes. Get on with an election ASAP.

Sounds simple? DO IT!!!! clap2.gif

Spot on. Make sure that there are absolutely no representatives from the majority of the people. This has to be about keeping power for the minority. Keep it to the business people and elite here in Bangkok. Draw up a constitution prohibiting any voting of any kind and ensure that Bangkok people hold on to power. This is the way to go!

And, just what did Abhisit do for the country when he was in power? Not a damn thing good for the country. He just helped to line the pockets of his wealthy cronies. He is a sllickster but not a good person.

Like I said I doubted both either side will be happy with the ruling. Losing YL is nothing. PTP is still in control. Why because the court knows elections must come first before reforms. Anything else would be unconstitutional in the eye of the court.

I feel a song coming on,everyone can join in.
