Agree with you there 100%. It's like they save up and buy any piece that's available and chuck it on the bike without any coordination what so ever.

Yeah that's the typical "Thai modification style".huh.png

Indeed way to busy and colorfull for most of us, but I like to see these kids working on there bikes , better then spend there money on whiskey and beer.

If I was a thai teenager I'd probably be riding the yellow one. That's the ford escort/cortina of thailand

If I had to choose, I'd probably take the same. But I'll never understand the wafer thin wheels these guys sport on their machines. Zoomer X, Wave, MSX even. Doesn't matter what, they'll chuck the tiny biscuits on them.

Haha I should have rephrased it, I understand why they use them. But they're crazy! My commute is along Bangna-trat road, it's not uncommon to see them come wheel to wheel with the bumps and cracks in the road, then take a spill. Each to their own I guess. But I'd pop them after a 5 minute ride. 555.

its like reading a copy of "the King's New Clothes" - everyone agreeing how wonderful these old relics are.

Having one of these, would be like buying a brand new (western) house, ripping out the gas fired central heating system and bunging in coal fires in each room.

No thanks, I'll stick to my PCX.

ttkaka those machines are awesome. Never knew too much about the old zoomers(ruckus) until the new version came out. They have endless possibilities and guys put endless amounts into them in the states. Very cool.

These are the bikes I had before moving to BKK; notice most are tiny.[/size]

Sure the bigbike was fun at Willow Springs, but otherwise it was boring because you can't enjoy a bigbike on public roads safely and track time is too expensive to do all the time for me.

Racing the pocketbikes in a parking lot with 6-10 friends was by far the funnest thing I have ever done in my life beating out skiing, lacrosse, snowboarding, paintball/speedball, shooting machine guns, sex, drinking, ice hockey, go karts, autocross, mtn biking, well....everything.

The blue pocketbike (DM Telai) had 10HP and could go 51mph with stock gearing.

Taking a turn at 50 mph with your head a foot from the ground felt much faster than a bigbike 90 mph turn with my shoes scraping the track.

Although I have never had a Cub, I did restore the yellow CT70 and Z50 in the pics.

They were slow as molasses to ride but fun nonetheless.

Yeah, lookin good.

Nice color combination, not over the top but stylish.

I like the knobby tires, retro-cool.

Some really awesome bikes here.

This sort of bike hobby makes much more sense for 90% of most, way cheaper to get restored and fine to just potting around on when done.

I had a HD before and that was en expensive toy to have around, 1st class insurance was over 20K baht per year alone and then you can start modify/ride.

I am tempted to buy a 2nd hand wave and have it restored to my specs but haven't seen any shops in Pattaya doing it, well you see the small bikeThai shops all over but they don't really restore but are more bolting items on.

I also have a pcx150 but are not interested in spending money on bling on it, it's a fine city hopper and that's it.

She's done! Not in my possession yet, it will make it's way to me early this week. It's just now I imagined, couldn't be happier so far. Can't wait to get my hands on my new baby!

Hope this thread keeps on for a bit. I'm hoping to join the super cub club soon. Just gotta get my ducks in a row first.

I agree. It shall stay as long as I have anything to do with it! wink.png

One thing I have noticed is that this topic hasn't attracted the know it all, downers that ruin most others. Touch wood. Small bikes are awesome and there is a massive interest in them in this part of the world that seems to never be represented on this forum. So to anyone else out there, who likes smaller bikes, feel free to post up what you've got/what you're working on. But I'll always be partial to the cubs. smile.png

I much prefer small bikes because they are much funner to ride.

Even girls think small bikes are cool as seen on my old Ruckus 49cc.

Love em!

Reading your post gave me a wicked idea! w00t.gif

Imagine getting a sub 5k Baht POS, get it running, maybe fit knobby tires, longer suspensions... find a private place in the countryside...and race the crap out of them!

Probably the cheapest and greatest fun you can have on 2 wheels, and you don't have to worry about scratching the custom paint job on your other bikes.

Look at this for inspiration...

Make sure that he gets the colour of the bike put into the green book if the colour has been changed. If the colours don't agree, problems down the road.

Of course mate. All sorted. It's not his first time around the block so everything's fine. Just looking forward to taking it for a spin. :)

Congratulations, on a job very well done!

I've had to stop my man from putting on silly cheap nobbly tyres. I'll wait until I've got the time to source the ones like Thaiwis ;)
