Scot shot in Pakistan jail: Blasphemy case

Eh? He can easily be Scottish. There are plenty of people with Pakistani heritage in Scotland, generations on, who are considered Scottish. Born and bred there. As there are with Dutch, German, Irish, French and so on. Or do you only get to be Scottish if you've got some sort of pure bloodline which you can trace back to the Gaels and the Picts?

Actually I think you have to trace 'em back to Mel Gibson in a kilt, or whatever that Scottish leader's name was.

Yes

With a name like that

This 70 year old certainly sounds like a Scot.

British maybe ...but Scot

Mmmmmm.

Why couldn't Asghar be Scottish? The Saxe-Coburg-Gotha's claim to be English don't they?

The victim in the OP is a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic, jailed under Pakistani blasphemy laws and assaulted, yet the majority of posts are attacking the victim.

Expressions of bigotry at its best on TV.

Turn down your sensitivity dial.

Most posts are making fun of his Pakistani / Jockanese heritage, non are attacking the victim.

So take our bigotry slur and shove it where the sun dont shine.

I'll take you on your word that your'e not a bigot towards Muslims. In the context of the OP, your concept of making 'fun' is very different to mine, each to their own.

Edit:

I note in your post #36 your sense of humour has failed you

You can take whatever you like. I asked you to point out your perceived bigotry.

No, my sense of humour has not failed me. I still havent got a clue what Post #36 is meant to mean, perhaps the poster would like to elaborate and I will answer him.

Like most humor, explaining it nullifies the intended effect.

Apparently you've never visited Scotland?

I still do not understand your #36, so how could I find it humorous or otherwise.

I am Scottish, so what is your point exactly ?

Posted

On one hand, you should be worried if everyone gets it but you.

On the other hand, it's ok, humor is not dealt out evenly from the Creator. Your cross to bear, I suppose.

Here you go. I will make it fairly simple for you.

Or perhaps he could explain who the bigotry was aimed against ?

Jocks ?

Pakistanis ?

Muslims ?

Your Post #36

So take our bigotry slur and shove it where the sun dont shine.

That would be Scotland, eh?

Once again, I will ask you what the meaning of your post is ?

" That would be Scotland, eh ? " Is supposed to mean what ?

I must congratulate the providers of your education in your formative years. Your level of intelligence clearly shines through.

You even managed to mis-spell your user name.

OMG! After a good nights sleep and studious review of this less than illuminating discourse, this is the best you can come up with?

Even I worked out the rather witty riposte to your quite lame "where the sun don't shine" jibe and I am a proud Scottish bigot.

He is about as much Scottish as we are Thai

not true

anybody can become a british citizen after a while if they are from outside EU, many poor illeterate migrants living on social welfare

we expats, will surely never be thai as they don't give it away for nothing / free

even children born here, from farang parents cannot even claim thai nationality

so muhammed is surely more able to be a scotsman, than we being thai in any way

Regardless how this Scotsman met his death through being a gobby Scot, expressing his opinion, as the Scots do, it was wrong to murder somebody for expressing their opinion, especially for telling the truth, that these religious nutters are out of order.

A case of the clinically insane being shot by the criminally insane?

If you travel to Pakistan and have a British passport, you are a kidnap target, louds of money to be paid for your release, the Scots back home where to canny to pay his ransom.

Well at least his killer sent a message.

You keep saying he's dead. Why?

Wouldn't it be proper to return to the issue spelled in OP ?

-A man (mentally sick or not)...

-Scot (or not)...

-being in prison (justly or not)...

-shot by an armed guard (true believer or not)...

-in Pakistan (a nuclear country)...

What's in a name? - Nothing.

The fact remains that

- one basket case is a UK citizen;

- another basket case is a nuclear power;

- the murder takes place in a jail by an armed jailer.

I suppose that had this guy been beheaded the reaction would be same-same? Or not?
