...or you can do it on-line.

On-line 90 day reporting site is up and running again.

https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do

Appears to be working although my Google Chrome browser won't let me open that site (some type of safety issue) and my IE browser gives the same security warning that it used to issue when visiting that site in the past (but, with IE, I can at least choose to proceed to the site).  In any event, it appears that the online reporting is back in business.  Good.

Last time I had to do my 90 day report I went to G4T and paid them to do it as the time before that I mailed it and then had to go to the airport office to get the receipt that they didn't send back in my pre-stamped EMS envelope.

This time I tried the mail again.

I sent it via EMS on Monday 3 April and it wasn't received by IMM until Friday 7 April (going from Chiang Mai to Chiang Mai via Lamphun).

IMM processed it on Monday 10 April and I received the approved slip via EMS the next day 11 April.

That's NOT "the priority lane".  That's the desk where 90 day reports are processed.  And those two ladies are the officers who normally handle the regular 90 day reports.  That "Priority Lane" sign floats around; I've seen it outside at the Info Desk.

The "Priority Lane" is the little-publicized service for customers over age 70, handicapped people, etc.  There's a special form that should be completed in order to access the service, and Priority Lane customers are escorted to the 2nd floor office to receive their services.

I suspect the two ladies were just posing as a joke for this photo.  Sure looks like it.  (I believe there are signs in the office prohibiting photos, too.  I sure wouldn't have risked taking a photo.)

Interesting about the priority service for over 70. Does that mean that an over 70 yo does not have to q up at 4 am,  but can just go in any time for an extension?

There is no priority service unless you pay the agent.

A few months ago I talked with "Sargent Nicky" the Imm. officer who normally handles retirement extensions at Promenada.  During that meeting he assured me that people over age 70 could request priority service and he pointed to this sign that was posted outside the Immigration office at the time.  There is a request form available at Imm. that you must complete to obtain the service.  I do know of some people who have been successful in receiving this service -- usually with much fanfair and photos that are forwarded onto the Consular Corp to show how Immigration is providing such good service.

Been posting 90 day report for years, not one problem, anything to

prevent me to going to Promenade is a huge plus.

Pleased to see you were going back to Oz,then you said you intend

coming back !:saai:  just joking my old cobber.

regards worgeordie

Know people who have been doing the 90 day report by mail for over ten years, never a problem, but be sure to save your receipt. Use EMS. Best to update your passport on your computer and print when needed for next report. Ten minutes plus trip to post office. No need to get up early and spend all day bumming around CM unless you like to do that. I save the last SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) with the copy of the passport and the TM form until the next mail in time. I do it exactly 15 days before last 90 day expires because I'm not certain what the time range is, but have never had a problem.

I've missed out on 5 years,damn...."Have assisted CM Immigration Office" hmmm

Don't fret.  They just opened up the "Priority Lane" a few months ago.  Besides, I doubt that posting on Thai Visa counts as "assisting the CM Immigration office.

There are "lanes" like this at many gov't hospitals.  You have to be able to read Thai signs to realize that some of the windows at the cashiers office are Priority Windows reserved for the use of those over age 70  or that a certain back section of a large waiting room is less crowded and reserved for the elderly  and  doctors and nurses will see to those patients in a timely fashion.

After spending more then one hour queuing at immigration manic depression starts creeping in and I start losing the will to live. I am still going to use the G4T, don`t care how much it costs or who`s pockets my fees are going in, just want to get it over with so I can continue on with my life and pursue my own boring little interests.

At your advanced age and mindset it's quite understandable

what is mean person with urgent need lol

I've wondered about this, too.  Maybe someone who lacks forward planning skills and didn't realize they could apply for their annual visa extension 45 days in advance in Chiang Mai.

No, seriously........ I heard of one such case today of someone whose father had a serious illness and she needed to secure a re-entry permit pronto to go visit him.    Perhaps that's what they meant.

A nearly pleasant day at Immigration,  rose very early, showered, had a cup of tea,

arrived at Promenade at 4.30, took seat  No.5 in the Retirement line, the 4 seats in

front of me taken by Burmese sitters, one on 90 days, couple on voluntary ,the next

one to arrive in the retirement que was 7.00, so i didn't need to get up so soon, about

7.30 more people started to arrive ,mostly 90 dayers ,so on that day at least it was a lot

quieter than usual, low season, satellite offices  opened up around  Chiang mai,?

They started handing numbers out at 8.30, ,about 9.00 the officer started No 1 in

retirement,  they had to get more copies, same with 2 and 3,  9.45 it was my turn

Very friendly officer, everything in order, askd him couple questions about my passport,

They now have a Boss Lady, who signs the passports so you can collect them about

1/2 hour after they are processed ,which is a whole lot better than having to return

in the afternoon,as in the past,

Next time I may not get there so early,as if i had arrived at 7.00 i would have still

been finished by 12.00, a slow day or Chiang Mai immigration improving ?,

so spent a few hours there, saved a few bob not engaging an agent, the only

downside was the smell ,some very smelly people there, even in the open,

the smell was very noticeable , I hope the new Immigration buildings have plenty

of extractor fans installed, the old place on a hot day was like the Black Hole of Calcutta.

Regards Worgeordie

That was my experience, except I got there at 6:45 and was third in line, got my passport back within ten minutes.

I walked to a visa service near my condo on Tuesday, gave them my passport, some information and 500 baht, walked back on Thursday to pick up my passport with my 90 day check complete.  I wasn't asked about a TM30.  Total cost 500 baht, total time invested, including travel to and from the office, less than one hour.

Since I don't like hanging out in malls, don't like taking my bike on the superhighway, don't like waiting in line and dealing with bureaucrats, and it would take at least an hour each way traveling, parking and finding the appropriate offices, I think I'll stick with the 500 baht lazy method.

I didn't. My wife took me in and held my hand .Thank God I now know where I live

A gold star for you!  You'd be surprised how many older expats can't tell you their mailing address in English, much less the Thai language and are totally clueless about giving you directions about how to drive to their home.  The best they can do is something like "go to the Big C on Hang Dong Rd and my wife will meet you there and lead you to our home."

Sad, so sad.

That happens with Thais also, it's not confined to elderly dyslexic Alzheimer addled

expats.

At least I think it does if I remember correctly!

Doing it by mail here in Sanpatong takes about ten minutes to fill in the form and return envelope, ten minutes to get to the PO, send EMS. Some people I know have been doing it that way ten years, never had a problem. Oh, the return TM30,  same experience as the other fellow, no sweat at all.

I may try that next time.  I wanted to make sure my first 90 day check would be done correctly, and I have more faith in a visa service than the Immigration office, which gets mixed reviews from those that deal with it.
