Hi,

Hope to do my extension next week.  As am north of 75 will try the priority lane.  To that end collected the form last week.  Also went up to the TM30 room to enquire where I should go but nobody knew anything.

Anyway here is a fillable Priority lane form

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RjQLlwPd7x1z0Jk71P2PhWHKiW6CcE6X/view?usp=drivesdk

Notice on the first form it stated over 70.  This form does not mention age but leaves the reason open.

I posted a while ago I was finally directed by the interns to the room upstairs as they didnt know. There is no signage.arrived 9.15am

A guy, not in uniform, sitting behind a desk far right hand corner gave me a blank look when asked and took the form back downstairs only to return to give it to the  girl sitting next to him and said "she is the one" .

She let it sit there for 30 mins before calling me and telling me my application was not complete, sending me downstairs for a copy of every page in my passport that carried  a visa extension stamp ,all 9 of them.No point in asking why ? she wouldnt elaborate , so be prepared for any eventuality.

All done by 12 15pm from memory,

Reason on form, I just wrote medical ,that was not questioned.good luck

PS : I thought the eligiblity age was 75 for the priority lane.

There is a sign at Immigration that says something to the effect that the Priority Lane is for those over age 75, medical cases, Consular recommendations, those who have contributed special services to Immigration,  urgent cases, etc, etc, etc.  In other words, anyone that Immigration can be convinced is qualified.  In reality, it's used for those over 75 who seem frail and those with medical problems and handicaps, no matter their age.

Immigration makes no effort to cull the morning queue and offer special service to those over age 75; they have to request it.  This is in marked contrast to the gov't hospitals where there are often priority queues for those over a certain age and the nurses will actively pull people out of the general queues and move them into the priority queues, without the patient making a request.

I have always utilized the  method of seasoned bank funds to apply for my extension of stay based on retirement. This year I intend to use the income affidavit method to apply.

Has anyone encountered any difficulties, challenges, demands for proof of income, or??

Thanks.

Hi,

Next week hope to do my extension of stay.

I am a little uncertain regarding the requirements for proof of income.

I will be using deposit account method. and the day before shall obtain necessary certificate from my bank (Bangkok Bank).  However how do I fulfill the "Update bankbook to present day"  (quote from imm info sheet).

Read on here that the Bangkok bank will freeze the account for 24 hours, will this suffice ?

Thanks

Make a deposit or withdrawal the same day you get your bank letter and copy that transaction with your other bank book copies.

Hi,

Ta for that.  But withdraw or deposit before or after the letter or does it matter.

And that will be the day before, not "present day" which I take to mean same day as renewal.

My post from earlier today may have not been clear in its request so I will re-post here my question.

I have always utilized the method of seasoned bank funds (“Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than Baht 800,000 as shown in bank account transactions for the past 3 months”) to apply for my extension of stay based on retirement.

This year I intend to use the “Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month” to apply.

Has anyone recently encountered any difficulties, challenges, demands for proof of income, etc., when using the proof of income method?

I think the silence says "no," although stay tuned...... I've seen reports from other Immigration offices, however, where they wanted some further evidence of income, or at least a bank book showing movement.

In any event, there's nothing you can do differently than just take all your paperwork showing pension payments, deposits to home bank accounts, blah blah. Don't present it, of course -- unless pressed by the IO.

Even in other provinces, where they've asked for additional proof, I've never seen anyone turned down because of lack of such proof (understandably, since the rules imply the income statement stands on its own merits).

I’ve been using the income method for several years and have never had any problems. For my first such extension I took along about 50 local bank ATM receipts, credit card records, pay slips, annual pension 1099s and my annual tax return to prove my income.  I was not ever asked for such information and stopped building this file for subsequent extensions.

Plenty of room for all those new staff they will be employing to streamline the system. And sufficient space for the mobile agents vehicles. 1503753.GIF

For those about to go out to immigration:

Yesterday at 7am there were 17 people waiting for retirement visa, a few tourists and a few 90 day people.

By 8.30 there were about 25 retirement, 20 or so tourists and looked like some 50 or more for 90 day.

As far as I could see everyone there at 8.30 got a retirement number. I got 18 and 19 was seen in the afternoon and did a re-entry  stamp in about 30 minutes so a couple of hours in the morning to get my queue number, then less than 3 hours in the afternoon to get my extension and re-entry stamp.

Tourists all got seen and people were still getting numbers and seen at 3pm - no need for an early start.

Same for 90 day, people turned up in the afternoon and got sorted within an hour or so.

TM30 - I had to have it for my extension.

Hi,

Did my extension on Tuesday 16th.

Got the Bangkok bank letter on 15th.  (withdrew 1000 beforehand).   Copied all pages of my bank book.  But I also printed out a 3 month statement from the iBanking website.  . (Looks  cleaner, easier read than the passbook).

Arrived at immigration 0835, showed my "Priority Lane" form to a young lad who directed me to the longest queue, but then a woman in uniform waved me down to the end of the counter.  There another young man read the form a few times then disappeared with it,  my passport and all the forms.  Came back ten fifteen minutes later and escorted me up to the 2nd floor, motioned me to sit on a chair and he went sat at the very top right hand desk.  Another ten, fifteen minutes he waved me up to the desk.  Young girl in uniform then processed the extension.  Asked her if TM30 required and she showed me the   - alien address - receipt of notification in my passport said no not required. (Five month old).

And that was it all done at 0925.

I had copied (and signed) all pages of my new passport, plus ALL pages of my old.  (Gave me back most of the pages of the old)  Also has copied (and signed) the alien address  and the 90 day receipts of notification.

But she would not do my re-entry so had to go join the queue with all the other plebs.  But all done at 1030.

Extensions customers were still getting numbers whilst I was there but they were been told to come back at 1300.

Next time will wait until after 0900 -0930,  mad rush should then be over.

I was there yesterday too.  TM-30 update and Multi Reentry Permit.  Arrived at 1000 AM and left at 1145.  Overall no complaints.  I still don't understand the need to report to the TM-30 office within 24 hrs of returning to CNX after international travel.  I have the same address and the only thing accomplished was a new stamp on the same TM-30 receipt with the new date.  But I realize I'm not suppose to understand.  I just gotta do it.  So far arriving after the morning rush has worked out better.

You did well especially having all copies of all pages of passport with you, which I had never done before, and still dont have a clue why they are needed, neither do they.I got there at 9.15 am and confusion where I should go eventually up in room 2,out by 12 noon.

Of course next year, all being well ,it will be at the new office, whole new ball game.

A few of us long timers have been hit with the 1600 baht fine even at the time leaving the country and returning there was no TM 30 requirement. But the classic was when doing my last extension a man, sitting next to me,originally  from Holland was fined. He had returned from Holland and got caught when doing his annual extension. He told me he has lived at the same address in CM for 27 years, only returning to his home country twice in that time.

27 years of 90 day reports at the same address, priceless.

Hi,

I purchased a printer.  So scan, print everything.  Also printed the passport ID pages in colour, added a bit of class I reckon

I gave the lad who escorted me up a tip on the way down.  60 Baht, all the small notes I had.  Thinking being, if he believes he may get a tip, he may actively   seek out old codgers in future.

My two cents about queue at Promenada...

Today I arrived there 7:15am, joined the line for Retirement extension, they made the forms available 8am (I know they can be downloaded, but I prefer to get them right there in case of a picky IO), at 8:30am I was handed out queue number 11. I was called in at 10:15am.

Did my annual visit for retirement extension today, arriving at 8 am.  They had more college interns doing the 8.30 am checking than they had in December when things were really backed up due to the several December holidays.  It actually took longer to obtain a re-entry permit then than it did today to receive a retirement extension.  After the intern looked over my passport carefully, but not the TM7 form, copies or other supporting documents, she gave me queue no. 19 and said to return in the afternoon.  There was one other person behind me who had joined the queue right at 8:30 am.  Why people arrive or pay someone to arrive at zero dark stupid is beyond me.

I enjoyed breakfast at Rim Ping, did some banking business, killed time looking at appliances at Chi Chang and then went to see a movie at the SF Cinema.  Was planning to see "The Commuter", a movie equivalent of one of those paperback books you buy at the airport to keep you entertained on a flight.  But, instead I saw that the well-reviewed "12 Strong" was playing and decided to see that even though it meant I wouldn't get back to Imm. until after 2 pm.  They could wait, I figured.  The movie was good, taking place right after 9/11 when the entire reason for going into Afghanistan was clear and hadn't gotten sidetracked with stupidity like going into Iraq .... but I digress.

Anyway, when I returned to Imm. they were calling my queue number.  Someone mentioned they'd been calling it for several minutes.  Oops.  Turns out, Snr. Sgt. "Nicky" was being assisted by four or five interns, one of whom was tasked with carefully checking every document.  She was waiting for me, obviously had been for several minutes.  She asked if I'd had a nice lunch.  I tried to decide if she was being snarky about being kept waiting or just being friendly.  I nodded yes and then she asked what I had to eat.  Oh, drat, this was just Thai small talk.  I admitted I had gone to see a movie and it had just finished.  End of conversation.  No interest in which movie -- just interested in what I had to eat.

Anyway, the "retirement extension crew" surrounding Nicky started to process my documents around 2 pm and and after a brief wait to actually sit in front of Nicky, then have my photo taken and return to sit and wait for the supervisor to review the work of Nicky and his crew, I was outta there by 2:45 pm, having had a nice breakfast and seen an interesting movie.  Way better than in December when I spent hours and hours standing in a queue waiting to receive a queue number to apply for a re-entry permit (don't tell me I can obtain one at the airport -- I was travelling with an elderly, needy, infirm person and didn't want any diversions)

The one wrinkle is that they've changed the TM7 form since last year.  The information the applicant supplies is identical, but there is now language on the back that says it's OK that people with handicaps and disabilities don't have to apply in person for an extension.  The early morning interns didn't check which TM7 form I'd used, but the first intern in Nicky's crew caught that I'd used an old form and had me fill out a new one while she waited.  She was very relieved that I had an extra photo and she wouldn't have to try to unglue the photo I'd attached to the old form.

I think they changed the form (just adding that little bit of language at the end) early last year as I had to use the new form when I got my extension in April.  Anyway, it's been available online since at least then:  https://www.immigration.go.th/download/

The form available on the Chiangmai Immigration website, though, appears to still be the old one.

The TM7 form is #14 (P.S. This new edit feature is rather lame)

Would be great if they also had the Form No In English

To make it easy to download the correct form

Talk about not helping us

It is not rocket science to have this done

Learning the ten symbols for the Thai numbers is not rocket science either.

Just checked that site and it is identical to the old form TM47.

And why have forms that are specific to aliens (for whom the current common language is English) with any Thai on them at all.

Posted

The content (info that the applicant inputs) of the old form TM7 and new TM7 is the same, as I pointed out to the intern.  What has changed is some of the language at the end of the form about how you don't have to apply in person if you are handicapped or disabled. I wonder if they'll change the TM8 form also.  That's the form the apply for a re-entry permit and clearly states that the applicant has to apply in person.

No where in my post did I mention the TM47 form.  That's the 90 day report form.
