My phone (POCO/android) doesn't do that, auto identify 😭

Taking photos of birds, actually got me more interested in photography, if possible, but meant buying bigger lenses for mirrorless camera.   Now phones are quite good, if you can see and focus on it, as only advantage of the super zoom lens I have.  Phone have taken over my simple 'knock around town' photography.

Good hobby for her 👍

I've seen some of your super sharp photos here. If she really gets into the hobby I think she will need a camera.

The iphone camera is good, but when on maximum zoom it's hard to get a sharp photo. Great for keeping a log though.

Talking of colourful but common birds, I managed to get this photo about right of a White-throated Kingfisher. Rarely seen near water, happy hunting in fields etc.

The Doves, Mynas and even robins in my garden love "small breed" dog biscuits. I put any mango's that fall from my trees on a table which seem to mainly attract the Bulbuls and even butterflies. I've

Really .. you're about the top of their range.   Have locally, but not near the house, and ~5 kms away, though only saw them at that location during covid, since no tourist to disturb them, and quite skittish.

Troop or 3 over at RTAF Wing 5 / PKK, not so skittish and will allow being had fed.  Signed not to feed of course 🙄

The odd bird here & there? This is what I woke up to this morning. Over 1000 next door. Loads of eggs.

They arte used to clear the freshly harvested rice field opposite.

Lots of birds in my garden here on Samui. Dawn chorus wakes me up most days.

Unfortunately, I am rubbish at identifying them, but some are the usual ones -

Wagtails, mynahs, doves, pigeons, Indian roller, sunbirds, and ones that I call 'bandit birds' - light brown/grey with a black 'mask' as in The Lone Ranger.

But my biggest pest at the mo (and I do love them) are these guys - Ate my pineapple and now eating the pomegranates. Had nine, five left. This guy was just over one meter from the bedroom window.

The only ones I want to see are The Foden Pheasant, the Haaland Hawk, the Bobbtit, Ederson Eagle, Stones Starling, Walker Wader, Lewis Lapwing, de Bruyne Bat, Doku Dove, Grealish and Gundogan Gannets, Kovacic Kites, and the Pep peacock.

Poor picture i know,  but is it Indochinese roller or Indian roller. Beautiful blue under it's wings in flight. Banchuen beach, Trat.

Indochinese Roller since the Indian Roller doesn't hang out in Thailand, or even migrate through.

After seeing the bird above, we drove to the Thai-Cambodian border, and just past Thailand’s narrowest point, where there's a mountain range/jungle one side of the road and the coast on the other, had a pair of toucans fly right in front of the car. Made my day! In my 4th decade here, been to many national parks, and NEVER seen toucans before.

The wife (thai) had also never seen before.

THANKS.  Usually very skittish and never profiles for me, let alone sitting on the wall before.   Actually took the photos from inside our bedroom.  He was distracted by the dog sitting & barking in front of the glass doors.  Good Dog :coffee1:

People often go on about the Koel being annoying, the noisiest bird, but personally i love their sound - the sound of Southeast Asia for me.

I get Koels in my garden, but the noisiest (not in decibels but persistence) for me is the common tailorbird, they never shut up morning till night.

Agree.  have a few Koels around the house, along with lots of other birds.   Love listening to them.

Had an Open-billed perch in a coconut tree, just outside our wall the other day.
