webfact Posted April 21, 2016 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Thailand preparing to host World Irrigation Forum in NovBANGKOK, 22 April 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is making preparations for the 2nd World Irrigation Forum, which will be hosted by Thailand in Chiang Mai province this November.Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Gen Chatchai Sarikalya has called a meeting with the committee in charge of organizing the 2nd World Irrigation Forum and the 67th International Executive Council Meeting. Among the issues discussed were the presentation of award to the winner of the slogan contest and activity and budget plans of each working group.Organized triennially, the World Irrigation Forum this year is scheduled to take place in Chiang Mai province of Thailand from November 6-12 at the Chiang Mai International Convention and Exhibition Center Commemorating His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary. It is considered an important stage for irrigation experts from around the globe to meet, exchange ideas and integrate efforts in improving irrigation and drainage.This year’s theme is “Water Management in a Changing World: Role of Irrigation in Sustainable Food Production”. cmsally Posted April 22, 2016 Share Posted April 22, 2016 How about they hold it in the dry season - like right now. It would make far more sense. Compulsory field trip to the dry fields as well as at least one of the provinces that is drier than Chiang Mai. Check out the dams with very little water on the way. Why not host a forum for nuclear safety in Tschernobyl or Fukushima? Well at least this would have some symbolic character... But experts and irrigation in Thailand.
