Non Immmigrant O Visa Multiple Entry.

Featured Replies

Hi all, I would be grateful if you could clarify something for me.

For the last few years I have used a Single Entry Non Immigrant O Visa from the Thai Embassy in London staying 90 days in Thailand at a time with no problems - No overstays or anything like that. Photo of one visa below to confirm Visa type.I am British. For my next trip I plan to apply for a Multiple Entry Non immigrant O Visa valid for 12 months as I would like to do some traveling around Asia, Laos, Vietnam etc. Once I have my shiny new Visa, for arguments sake, issued on 1st July 2016 will the 'enter before' be about the 30th. June 2017 (within 12 Months). Is this correct? Also my two queries are:

  1. Within the first year I understand I can enter and leave Thailand as often as I want without the need for any further Visa. However if I stay more than 90 days after arrival without leaving Thailand do I have to do a 90 day report and if so can this be done on line?
  2. If I enter finally just before the 'enter by' date I understand I will get a further 12 months but if I leave Thailand during this period can I return on the same visa or do i have to apply for a new visa? Any clarification or comments would be appreciated.

Also my apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.

Thank you.

1. Wrong. You have to leave Thailand within 90 days.

2. Wrong. If you leave and return just before the expiry date you get 90 days.

A multiple - entry "O" visa permits stays of up to 90 days per entry.

The visa allows as many exits/entries as you wish to make during its validity but you must leave the country every 90 days and then return to be granted another 90 day stay.

You appear to be wanting a Non 'O-A' visa not a non 'O'.

A non 'O-A' would be valid for 1 year from the issue date.

  1. With a non 'O-A' you do not need to exit every 90 days but can make a report to immigration, in person, by post or online (maybe). You can come and go as often as you want during the life of the visa.
  2. Yes, with a non 'O-A' if you make an entry just before the visa expires you get a new 1 year stay. You can leave during that year but need a re-entry permit (1,000 baht) to keep the permission to stay alive.

A non 'O' would be valid for 1 year, you need to exit every 90 days and if you enter just before the 'enter before' date you would get a 90 final day stay.

I suspect the OP has been obtaining his visas on the basis of having a "State Old Age Pension" unless he is married to a Thai person.

An O/A visa will require the OP to demonstrate the equivalent of 800K Bht in a UK bank or a certified income of 65K Bht /month in addition to other requirement which can be found on the Thai (London) Embassy website.

To the OP: do you refer to a "Non O-A" (Multiple) or an ordinary Non O (Multiple)?

Big difference.

If I enter finally just before the 'enter by' date I understand I will get a further 12 months

This sounds like Non O-A and in this case post #4 answers your questions.

I thought the money has to "sit" at a Thai bank, not abroad. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi all,

Thank you for your quick and constructive replies and clarifying this for me.

It all now makes sense and just to confirm.

'O' Visa. I have to leave LOS every 90 days, whether it be a border run or a trip to another country, Asia or Europe. Also I get an 'extra' 90 days if I enter just before the 'enter by' date.

'O-A' Visa. I can stay in the LOS for the full year, just do 90 day reports and again get a second year if I leave and re-enter just before the 'enter by' date. Also if I leave during the first year and re-enter the clock will be reset for the 90 day reporting ie; 90 days from re-entry.

Whilst I have the requirements for the O-A, finance etc, just more hoops to jump through, I think the 'O' will suit me for now as I plan to do some traveling in Asia and have business interests in Europe. I'll just have to make sure I plan these within the 90 day window which shouldn't be a problem and review my options the following year.

One piece of advice please. When I have the 1 year O visa on arrival would I need evidence of leaving within the 90 days, ie flight ticket, although in the last 16 years I have never been asked for this.

Finally for info I can confirm TerryLH (Post #7) is correct, applying for the O-A visa in London the requirement is for evidence of the equivalent of 800,000Baht in a bank account. See below from the Embassy website:

  1. Copy of bank statement or evidence of adequate finance showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 Baht or an income certificate with monthly income of not less than 65,000 Baht, (approximately GBP 14,000.00/annum) or a deposti acocount plus a monthly income totaling not less than 800,000 Baht.

Thank you all again.

No onward flight tickets required.

Whenever you obtain a multiple entry visa, it is unlimited entries while it is valid. You can enter and exit everyday if you really wanted to.
