Oversized traffic tickets real, must be paid, police say

Contrary to online speculation, the oversized traffic tickets handed out in Pattaya on New Year’s Eve are real and must be paid.

PATTAYA:--Contrary to online speculation, the oversized traffic tickets handed out in Pattaya on New Year’s Eve are real and must be paid.

Social media was abuzz with claims that fake cops were passing out fake tickets in front of the Highway Department on Sukhumvit Road or that real cops were playing a New Year’s prank on motorists.

That turned out to be a lot of wishful thinking by reckless drivers and traffic scofflaws when top Traffic Police officers confirmed the A4-sized tickets were real and made it clear the recipients were a hazard on the roads.

The tickets were handed out at a checkpoint set up on Sukhumvit to check for weapons, drugs, drunk drivers and other offenders on New Year’s Eve. While well-intentioned, the poorly placed dragnet exacerbated an already bad traffic jam.

Checkpoint commander Pol. Cap. Siroj Ruenrerng said the A4-size tickets were brainchild of the Traffic Police Division, which wanted to make it easier for drivers to understand what they did wrong.

Will there be any pictures of the A4 sized tickets to go along with this story?

Even A4 is small here

Here I was hoping the "oversized" bit would be the number of zeroes on the fines.

Is scofflaw a real word or one made up by Pattaya Mail?

Its real enough but they are the only people that use it (last seen in another exciting story about parking at Bali Hai).

I blame Albert Jack.

"...the A4-size tickets were brainchild of the Traffic Police Division, which wanted to make it easier for drivers to understand what they did wrong..."

Judging from the confusion that this article purports has been caused by these tickets, this is one brainchild that needs to be euthanized or lobotomized !!!

Perhaps, the offenders should pay with oversized cheques to make it easier for the Traffic Police Division to understand what they did wrong ???

The person pictured holding the A4 ticket must be huge and have the world's biggest hands?

We need urgently a A4 crackdown.

No wonder they do not have time to solve the suicides and members of the flying club deaths as they are too busy thinking Thinking Thinking I will edit this in two months when they have had some time to think about ways of enforcing the law

You cannot have a brainchild without first having a brain.

The local BIB have proved almost daily that they are deficient in this area, as well.

That paper is A6 size.....1/4 of an A4.......Muppets....

Oversized is not the right word here.
