What sort of programming are you after, US, UK, Continental Europe, Aussie, something more niche?

i also dropped them this month after 10 years.

Got a new mouse driven box with some great content but do find that often too many streamers of live stuff make for badly interrupted live viewing.

Pleased to be rid of t'other lot though and their now so poor offerings plus exorbitant costs now.

I do honestly miss easy channel selection by remote but not much else

Download  this from the internet   http://hola.org/       it is a free VPN      then hook up  your PC to your TV using a HDMI cable   and you can watch  world TV to your hearts content .

As long has you have a reasonable internet speed you should have little to no problem  ....

UKTV http://uktv.webtv.to/ is currently free, a few quirks in the audio but with 7 days of catchup a good solution.

ThaiExpatTV https://www.thaiexpat.tv/ also offers 7 days catchup, not currently free but there aren't the audio issues that UKTV currently has.

Both the above have massive 15 minute buffers so they work well on unreliable connections, so long as you can average 1-2 Mbps you'll have uninterrupted watching pleasure.

The BBC is getting very good at detecting VPNs, the last time I tried Hola it took several attempts to get an address they didn't know about.

The way to get around the BBC knowing you are using a VPN  ..   is first open another UK site (can be any site)and  then turn on Hola too the UK VPN ..... after that s up and running  you can open BBC   Iplayer   that way you are all ready in the UK on the VPN ......and the BBC can not detect the VPN turning which is how they block you .

To answer your question no not easy to set up, lots of buffering, addon go down etc. etc.  not one touch viewing like a cable provider, have to research and do a bit yourself, with advice/ suggestions from others, maybe not your strong point

We're currently using IPTV from ToT. Around 300/400 baht per month; fairly decent selection of western/English channels. Mostly HD, very little quality/buffering issues (using a optic fibre connection).

uktv.webtv does seem a good choice, but does it only work on windows, it won't download on my tv and on my android tablet although it downloads, it will not open.

Currently the freebie is Windows only, I expect there will be an Android and possibly iOS version when it goes pay.

ThaiExpatTV has an Android version which works well.

iLikeHD is worth a look if you don't need catchup and it has a web-based player with should run directly on your TV.

You can buy a WIFI (wireless) HDMI dongle   from Lazada for around 500b   that should do the trick

That exactly why we keep True(crap). Easy channel selection, especially because I go overseas working 2 months at a time and my wife is not technically minded.
The nature channels are very nice watching in full HD, I give them that.

I've never had any success getting BBC iPlayer access using either Hola or Betternet, from any country, not just Thailand.

I contacted True and told them that I was leaving them unless they came up with a much better package. They phoned quickly. I have been upgraded to the top package and price reduced to 800 per month. I am staying !!!

May I ask what package you where on and what they upgraded you too? Also is your upgrade permanent? They only offered me an upgrade for 1 month and 500 Baht off my next bill.

Yea, rang them this morning to ask why such a great sporting event like 6 Nations not being shown & was told

that "negotiations broke down". I know their supplierarrow-10x10.png is Be In Sports who they have paid a fortune to for the Premier League so obviously they are not prepared to pay for it or a cricket channel.

UBC was better than these clowns.

Looking into Thai Expat TV as obviously they are not going to get any better.

National Geographic going at end of month as well

I can't recommend Thaiexpat.tv highly enough.

About 650 baht per month for the basic channels (all UK free to air channels).

Watch via your computer --- via HDMI cable to your TV. And control via a wireless mouse.

OR no computer required ------ purchase an Android box. This is a small box the size of a couple of cigarette packets for about 6k Baht. This goes on top of your TV, so no computer involved (but broadband LAN or wifi still required).

They offer a couple of days free trial to see if your broadband and computer are fast enough.

https://www.thaiexpat.tv/

The set top box negates the need for a 50 metre HDMI cable.

Available all over Asia AND on my smart-phone!

PS I have no interest in Thaiexpat other than a satisfied customer.

PPS Do not confuse this with another company with a very similar name.

PPS Absolutely no set-up needed. Download the free player and type in user name and password.

If you buy a cheap Google Chromecaste HDMI dongle for your TV, you can then stream anything from your computer  to your TV. Bothe the CHromecaste dongle & your computer need to be on the same network & the dongle connects using WiFi, so no additional cables required. On your PC, you can only use Google Chrome browser to stream programming. Your 'dumb' TV is essentially converted into a 'smart' TV. Cheap & easy.

Sites like FilmOn; Giniko or Guchill will get you most of the programming you want & for free.

I've been using UKTV for a month and have found it flawless, with a five, not 15 minute delay. The downside is NO SPORT. I haven't tried THAIEXPAT because, again, NO SPORT. Or is there? I think I read on a TV forum that they don't list all their channels on the web, and the site does say that the channels are constantly changing and to contact them for a list. That translates to me as what you have today you might not have tomorrow, and we can't be bothered listing all our channels. I wouldn't want to do business with a company like that.

I'm off on a trip, but when I return next month I'm going to try iViewHD. Similar pricing to Expat but far, far more channels listed.
