First restaurant allegedly encroached on beach in Hua Hin dismantled

One seafood restaurant allegedly encroached on Hua Hin beach has been voluntarily dismantled after more than 40 buildings, including several restaurants, were served eviction notice from Hua Hin municipal administration on encroachment charges.

Saengthai Seafood restaurant was the first among 3-4 restaurants located on the beach along the Naretdamri road in Hua Hin municipal which agreed to move out and to dismantle the buildings by themselves. The rest however refuse to move out and vowed to fight on against the eviction.

Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul said the municipal administration invoked Sections 40 and 42 of the Building Act to order some 40 buildings allegedly encroached on public land to be evicted and dismantled within 45 days since December 20 when the eviction order was served upon them.

when you see those concrete piling, they must have had the cheek of the devil, and no one queried it, of course they had the  corrupt councils permission. did heads roll,? what a stupid question

45 days is long past, get the dozzers out

Anyone know which buildings are to go?

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

It's the ones down past the Hilton, the restaurants and guesthouses alongside and including Chao Lay seafood, if you know where that it is.

I had mixed feelings about this.  I've eaten at these places several times and really enjoyed them.  But now, seeing the beach cleared, it could be a really nice place if they set it up properly.  Can take out the pilings! LOL

We've been through this in Phuket. It's all for the good. It will be a better place after all these encroaching businesses are gone.

Has Saengthai Seafood moved to another location. It was my favorite on that seafont strip as they had the huge crabs there.

I'm told there are lots of little ones on offer in Soi Bintabaht.

Dismantled.... great moments in history.....clearly no Hi-so connection....

These restaurants are also close to where the new Pattaya-Hua Hin ferry docks so perhaps they are planning on redeveloping that whole area??

Going there in early April, so will be interesting to see which other ones have gone by then...

Maybe after the high season & Songkran, the authorities will really crack down...

Just those pilings to go now. With one building pulled the other owners

must be getting very worried.

Does anyone know how long those structures have been there? WhenI first visited Hua Hin some 18 years ago, I remember staying in a geh-how with rooms on one of the piers, and have subsequently eaten at several of the restaurants. It always seemed that they complemented the area, which is very much the old town. Let's hope that whatever they're replaced with is in keeping with the neighbourhood, although I reckon that's highly unlikely.

IIRC they were there the first time I visited Hua Hin over 30 years ago (my wife thinks so too). My understanding is they're not supposed to be replaced by anything, the beach is public land and no one should have built there in the first place. .
