In my 10 years living here (35 years visiting) I have never seen any evidence of this. My partner is from Isaan and I know the family well; they too would be horrified and would not enable such behaviour, as has been suggested here.

It is not to do with money - this family is poor too. BUT they are good people with moral standards.

The idea that Isaan people will tolerate or even enable this is not correct

I have the same issues sometimes when I am out with my 16 year old son.

I don't have to say or do anything anymore, as he will normally rip into anyone himself and tell them exactly what he thinks of their sordid mind.

It is actually quite funny to see people red faced and squirming, having been rightfully bawled out by a kid.

They normally get their bill and leave quite quickly.

In Thailand because many Farlangs have bad reputations, people will make assumptions.
