Motorbike only firing on one cylinder. Good mechanic in the South, please.

The bike shop opposite Soi Namjai on Viset Road are good at fixing small bikes at a reasonable price, a twin cylinder bike should not be a problem for them to fix, same principle just a extra cylinder

I've been going to the shop across from the Seashell Museum for years. They seem good and fair. Even came over to my house and picked up my bike that wouldn't start.

Thank you everyone.

I'm going to check out these places ASAP........or are these both the same place? We shall see!

No, different place. One is the bigger and more expensive shop, the one opposite the museum is much smaller.

Depends what you call expensive, the one opposite soi namjai is well equipped, carry a range of spare parts and and prompt with their service and will pick up the bike from your home if you ask them to

Very reasonable with what the charge and not at all expensive in my opinion

I really wonder what some people call expensive, some people think paying 300/400 baht for a buffet meal is expensive, i think that is cheap

The OP replaced the HT leads and the spark plugs, that leaves the magneto which works the same on a 700cc bike as on a 125cc and the parts should be interchangeable on a bike of the same make/brand

No special training needed to fix it, might be just the condenser that needs replacing or points if they still use them now

Points? Are you kidding?  I had a 1984 Honda 700 Twin..ie 30 years old and that already had full electronic ignition.

As for parts being interchangeable on same make/brand.

Very very rarely does this occur, and even more rarely when talking interchangeability between a 125 and a 700.

With the obvious lack of motorcycle knowledge of OP and your added expertise just to mix it all up, how do you or OP even know that it really is ignition problem and not a fuel issue or another cause?

OP..just take it to the recommended shop as advised on this thread.

A good point!

*chuckle*

Yes, it's electronic ignition, even though the engine is from the early 90's.

Yes, but three places have been recommended. Do you know anywhere near Rawai that's good for so-called big bikes?

The only Honda big bike shop i have seen is on the airport road past the heroines monument

Just go to one of the local shops, its  a 700cc commuter not a super bike

As far as grumpyas goes sounds like he needs a happy ending

A couple of suggestions..

Ignore the guy who has posted most, but knows nothing.[ how childish, resorting to name calling because he was corrected]

Take advice as offered  #8

Look on this forum, has info more on bigger bikes ;

I think a place that replaces a scoopy battery more expensive than honda plus a too light battery expensive. Especially when they do it twice on 2 different bikes.
The one opposite the museum and the one next to soi sai yuan are considerably cheaper.

Has anyone mentioned these guys yet: http://www.powerphuket.com

I had my pcx serviced there, they were fine. Run by a French guy and his son, specialise in Honda's but more geared towards pcx's, but may be able to help or point you in the right direction. If you go past the Stoned Crab Pub on your right, it's at the top of that hill on the left, just around the bend.

I've also used the guys opposite the Seashell Museum, they did a great job on my pcx and can recommend as others have already said.

Replaced a honda wave battery for us for 600 baht cheaper than one we bought honda

"Replaced a honda wave battery for us for 600 baht cheaper than one we bought honda"

The going rate for a Wave battery [GS brand]for an electric start model is 450-600 baht.

If you paid 600 baht less than honda shop, you must have got it for free.

This does not make sense.

Not at the honda dealer in Chalong sport, read my post again, i said cheaper than honda who charged us 685 baht 4 years ago, i said i paid 600 baht which was cheaper than honda

Also why i am at it , i said if they still use points, not that they do use points, its been many years since i have had to replace point in any type of engine, Stop trolling grumpyas or recommend a shop to the OP if you can, you have not up to date

By the way i have seen bikes with larger engines at the workshop i mentioned earlier, if there for repairs or someones ride i do not know

Its up to tapster who he wants to believe  or not, personally i do not care, so put up or shut up grumpyas as the old saying goes

At which of these workshops did you see a big bike?

The one opposite Soi Namjai, last time we used them they picked up and returned the wave that would not start, new battery, oil change and replaced a ignition part for around 800 baht

If people think that price is expensive, that's their problem, personally i think its cheap

My time is worth more than that and i did not have to leave home to get the repair done

Now you say read it again..i have, and it still says the same thing.

But you say it says this;

"Not at the honda dealer in Chalong sport, read my post again, i said cheaper than honda who charged us 685 baht 4 years ago, i said i paid 600 baht which was cheaper than honda"

Did you edit it or are you just making things up as it suits you?

If you had actually said all this in your post, #15 instead of adding it later, i would indeed understand 100%...but you did not.

Full punctuation is also very beneficial, in fact very necessary also ,if you are to make a valid statement.

You've only posted 84 times and a worryingly high percentage of those seem to be nitpicking.

Chill, man!

Cannot help him/herself mate, he is not the only one who like to quote other people when their own opinion is different instead of just posting their own opinion

Rarely start a topic themselves i have noticed, its like they are just stalking the forum hoping to find someone they can disagree with, takes all types i suppose to keep this forum interesting

I have to agree. I haven't seen one useful post from this person yet, just nit picking... Not even a Phuket resident. As you said it takes all types, but not too interesting.

In my opinion this is why so few Phuket residents/visitors bother to read this forum any more, I know I don't look much these days.

But grossly overpriced, especially their rates for sending stuff within Thailand. They must use boxes made from pure gold.... I've been there a few times with my PCX, but I preferred to spend my money somewhere else.

Guy across from Seashell museum gets my endorsement. He has worked on a twin for me a few yrs ago.

The older guy who owned the shop for the near 12 years I've been going to him sold it to his second in command. He trained the guy for years, then it was time for the owner to move on. He's brought the property his new shop is on. It's on the road that Cheers Bar is on, across from about the Islander and before you get to the Rawai Cable office if you are headed off Soi Si Yuan on the road that goes to the Or Bor Tor's office. But the guy's at his old shop are good too.
