Westerner, 76, killed in road accident in Chon Buri

By The Nation

SATTAHIP: -- A 76-year-old western man was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a pick-up truck on a road in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district late on Wednesday night.

Police identified the man as Edward Anthony Pisarz and said his nationality was unclear.

Pol Lt Col Pasawat Siripornnopphakhun, inspector of Sattahip police station, said the accident happened at 11.20pm on the Sukhumvit Road at kilometre marker 168 in Tambon Sattahip of Sattahip district.

Pasawat said Pisarz was hit by the pickup truck after he made a U-turn.

The pickup driver, Sunthorn Sitthi, 25, said the motorcycle cut in front of him at the U-turn spot and he could not stop in time.

I wonder if the pick up had dash cam fitted ? I think they should be mandatory now, as it would prevent a great deal of lying.... Bikes should have them too...

In fact, insurance companies should really be promoting much better discounts for camera users, not just 5 or 10%...

From the damage to the Mio (farang) and Hilux (young Thai), it is difficult to understand how the accident occurred if the statement of the Hilux driver is true.

The damage to the Hilux is all front nearside with a smashed windscreen close to the passenger door. The Mio has been bent in half with the front half now at an angle to the back end, the front bent around to the right.

It would make perfect sense if the Hilux was doing the U-turn not the Mio.

RIP You won't be a Pisarz anymore.

Was that comment really necessary?

Why exactly?

A man has died and some half-moron Posts with a juvenile transliteration of his name and you regard that as appropriate - even funny?

There are some sad, weird people on this Forum!

Thats a fair point ,but at 76 the unfortunate chap had the Balls to ride at that age, and a sense of fun and Old non PC Humor .?[emoji562]

One more data point.  Both of them experienced the same accident.  The guy with 4 wheels survived and the guy on 2 wheels didn't.

Condolences to the guy's loved ones.

So will the Thai driver be fined etc. I and a few other people on here will know of a westerner driving pick up / car that has hit a Thai riding a motor bike , albeit the Thai persons fault , but the westerner still has to pay out for " fixing bike/car or pay hospital bills "

really are you sure about that i thought your own insurance company would sort all that out?????????/

In HIS country he would not ride a motor bike at that age probably.. But here...? More safety, more brainless. Why not take a car? Anyway. RIP.

Something wrong about this. I suspect it was the pickup making the U turn.

That is a judgement that you are not in a position to make.

Interesting. Explain to me why I'm "not in a position" to make such judgement.

76yr old, out riding a bike at 11.20pm in Chon Buri .....

hmmm .....   I wonder was he always a risk taker  ?

RIP old man ... you got to 76 ...so not bad.

A. How do you know he wouldn't ride a motorcycle in his own country? There are plenty of 'senior riders' in Europe and the US.

B. Why do you he assume he's brainless? I ride a motorcycle at 71 and enjoy it. And I know a number of expats of the same ilk. And we certianly would not regard ourselves as brainless!

C. Maybe he  simply was not be able to afford a car. Not everyone is 'oozing money'.

Far too many assumptions Sawadee.

Why too many assumptions.?I m 73 Brainless and ride Mo Cycles..?[emoji86]
