Early winter as mercury drops on Doi Inthanon

By The Nation

The temperature on top of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain and a popular tourist destination, fell to 10 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, signalling an early winter for the Northern province of Chiang Mai, a park official said.

Rung Hiranwong, chief of the Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai’s Chom Thong district, said it was the temperature plunged three degrees Saturday morning fron 13 to 10 degrees compared to Friday morning.

He said the temperature at the Kiew Mae Pan lookout of the park was 11 Celsius degree in the morning.

“This was the sign that the winter has arrived,” Rung added.

Behold the new ice age cometh !!! Well at least an expected cool down... I can't wait for some cooler golfing weather !!

It would be great to have "winter" temperatures from October to March , but that's not going to happen .

Seriously? Must visit the mountain then...soon...

Here we go again...all the hype and the pictures about something that happens EVERY year.  I wonder if they get all hyped up in Canada every year because of the snow?

Said 5yrs ago it'll snow in Thailand within 10 yrs. 5yrs to go.

It snowed last year, i think Chiang Mai.

Hot and sticky early this morning on the golf course in Chiangmai, around 25c, now around 29c.

The snow has not settled. 1503737.GIF
