I don't care.  If you want to make racist characterizations of American black people in cartoons expect to be called a racist.

There are artists that draw caricatures of people upon request (in return for payment)

Would you consider it to be "racist" if a Back American requested a caricature drawing  of himself ?

What about a non American African who requested a drawing of himself , would you consider that to be "racist" as well ?

So historical context means that a black female cannot be the subject of a cartoon?

No it means shes allowed to cheat, bully and threaten. Williams has a history of abusive behaviour.

I think mark Knight is also a fan of Asterix and Obelix cartoon styles

serving up a cariacture of Serena spitting her dummy, was an accurate cariacture of what the viewing public all saw on the television

He should do a whole series of the feminist-racist-whatever rage attacks, that'd be fun.

J.K. Rowling
Well done on reducing one of the greatest sportswomen alive to racist and sexist tropes and turning a second great sportswoman into a faceless prop.

Uderzo and Goscinny would probably be drawn & quartered by the PC armies if they drew today. Loved them as a kid, I still got most of the series.

I was asking for your opinion .

If I want to know what J.K.Rowling thinks, then I would ask her

No you didn't. You wrote: "I think the Arabs want to shoot people ".

That is a racist and Islamophobic comment that would be regarded as a hate crime in many jurisdictions.

Stop trying to weasel out of it.

My view of whole swathes of the Middle East over the last couple of Decades is war, strife, civil war, bombings invasion, counter invasions,  mass rape and enslavement and yes plenty of shooting.  They might not like it but they seem to be in a permanent state of febrile discontent and war.

No need, she's a well known feminist so you can quite accurately guess what comes out.

Checking it now. Unfortunately I'm not very savvy with Oz's domestic politics, but looks like fun.

Makes me miss the yingluck & mamba cartoons.

Will never happen, mark knight is a legend and his statue has now grown even higher after being attacked by yanks. Australia is right behind him and we have his back and snowflake Americans will never touch our icon.

and, outsiders wouldn't know; but Mark Knight filled Jeff Hooks' retiring boots... a pretty hard act to follow

Since we're all outraged and that, as a honkey I'd like to get off a grievance of mine about depicting one of the great heroes of the 80's in an unflattering way.

Oh how I miss the 80's. The pinnacle of white man's reign.

He's just baiting. I imagine his life is pretty mundane without this forum. I know I'm done feeding him, hopefully he will just dry up and blow away.

Your definition of troll = person who does not agree with me and supports his positions with published links instead of my illiterate mates opinions.

How many times have we all heard, "you don't understand Thai people?"  If you live in Thailand it is constant.

The cartoonist said, "Maybe there’s a different understanding of cartooning in Australia to America,”  Sounds the same as Thailand only he is saying you don't understand Australian people.

From the Irish newspapers

I doubt many Irish observers can have looked at the Serena Williams cartoon without being reminded of our own grim history at the hands of cartoonists of the Victorian era, who depicted us as heavy-browed apes, feckless alcoholics and combative thugs. Those thick-Paddy stereotypes haven’t entirely gone away, either.

And from Australia.

The Australian writer Yassmin Abdel-Magied, who has spoken of her own experiences of racism and sexism in her country, has tweeted in response to the cartoon: “Racism – as in, the structures of society that make it difficult for those who are non-White to be truly and unconditionally ‘Australian’, and that perpetuate systemic inequality in Australia – is so embedded, is such a normal way of ‘doing business’, pointing to it feels facile.

I think this is an American tbing, the rest of the western world looks at it as a funny cartoon. We can joke about any nationality and race really. Only have to be careful with drawings of Mohammed these days.

I thought they emigrated to New York.

I do find that very offensive .

White people are a minority in the World and that portrayal of Rupert Murdoch is highly offensive to ALL White people .

Is the Irish times an American paper?

Serena Williams cartoon: outrage-mongering or old-fashioned racism

Is the Daily Mail UK an American paper?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6151635/Australian-newspaper-Herald-Sun-eviscerated-racist-cartoon-Serena-Williams.html

Williams' nose and lips are enlarged and her curly hair is exaggerated.

Others said the image was reminiscent of Jim Crow-era illustrations of African American women

Australian newspaper The Herald Sun is eviscerated for racist cartoon of US Open Final which depicts Serena Williams as a baby and Naomi Osaka as white

I doubt that the Church of the Perpetually Outraged would have liked Bill Mitchell, one-time cartoonist for The Australian. His series 'The Treasure of Los Bananos' would have had them screaming "racism" and "cultural appropriation" before you could say "Caramba!", and sent them whimpering into their fluffy-toy safe spaces.

That's what happens when you grow up glued to social media on your phone and don't have any real friends.
