Repeat all you like, I asked the manufacturer they said 1ok yet their website if u can find it hiding says 20k for synthetic  oil only, u know nothing.

I dont want to drive 40k for a service is that so hard to understand just because u find it not a problem doesnt mean I dont .

You do realise this is for a new purchase of a vehicle I dont own a Chevrolet currently. Yet chevvy advertise at home mobile servicing which isnt  true, that service intervals have to be 10k which isnt true.

The whole point of the thread is about checking the interval, whats so HARD for you to understand?

i don't usually like to post something like this but sorry.......... You have been asking the MAKER ( Chevrolet) for information on oil changes and can not decide what to believe .   Are you really looking for an answer

here on TV that will  seal the deal for you ?    You are asking for OPINIONS and then upset by some of the comments.   hmmmm   I have one more opinion  (JMO).....  The easiest and most serviceable makes here

in Thailand are  Toyota and Izuzu for trucks.........toyota and honda for cars.   I am not looking to start a

big argument about preferences,  just sayin

Of course Im looking for an answer by asking the company?? How else can you find out?

No it wont seal the deal, its my favourite at the moment but I also want to see how the new ranger update goes. I also like the Triton if you have seen some of  my older posts but its in need of a major update so ruled it out.

I dont mind the opinions at all especially if they can point out some glaring problems but some seem to think its hilarious i dont want short service intervals???  or amusing I dont want to drive 40km for a service which Im gonna  need about 4-5  times a year.

Chevrolet offered mobile servicing "anytime anywhere" and after enquring ( again in an older thread) it wasnt  available anytime anywhere  at all, theyve now updated their site to say this.

Ive already stated why i dont like Toyota or Isuzu and Honda dont make a pick up here.

Its all  personal and all about  preference.

The   thing I find  funny is if Id  bought one and had problems people would say "why didnt you check before buying" or " buyer beware"

This is exactly what Im doing beforehand in the land of "bugger  all customer service"

Checking  the service intervals for  me is important, its  not the most important but its one of the factors for "my" situation. It  wont be the deciding factor I may well opt to stick (shock horror) with the Toyota brand as they are 6  km from me, I know them well, they know me it gets done every 10k kilometers and theyve always been good...............but its DULL it really is dull.

Chevrolet had a big problem with the 2.8 diesel in Australia and excessive oil use hence why I asked Chevvy about which oil  just in case they spun round and said "ah  sorry you used the worng oil at the wrong intervals" and I dont want that problem here, cant find any info for 2.5 diesel issues at all with oil use in Thailand but again hard to find out as defamation laws dont let folk speak out.

Then they changed service interval from 15k change to 10k, no reason why, same engine same vehicle after  a  few mails to them they say I can do the 15k interval and can use dexos 2 and warranty is   not affected.

People can mock all they like, Im covering my backside here in the land of no responsibility.

Hope that explains it from "my" viewpoint.

Actually they dont but sometimes the myths are hard to drop  Toyotas "legendary" reliability is taking a really big hit in Australia, could be many reasons a lot could be down to more technology in cars and dpf  filters which they are having problems with and not just Toyota.

If youre going to  put down 1  million on a vehicle  it pays to ask questions about anything and everything.

errrrr.  this is thailand.   I have been here 30 years and own and have friends who own toyotas and hondas and izuzus.   So definitely not a MYTH about their reliability.   Seems like you are a little defensive (just maybe).  Anyway,  you can have the last word.  FORD or Chevy or whatever you like.  mai pen rai and good luck

No decision made yet been looking at it for 6  months as dont  need it until next year and some have been mocking, which is ok up to a point, Im all for a good  laugh and mods have deleted some of the responses including mine, I know there arent many Chevvys on the road but I dont see them broken down everywhere either or read  any reports of a serious issue. ( in Thailand)

Dealers can be crap, but thats been the same for me with Honda, had a great one had a  crap one.

Im talking "new" vehicles where its hard to find any info about Thailand and many seem to be having serious issues with modern technology.

Yes Ive already stated they were reliable I actually own a  Toyota Hilux, no problems 170ks on it but new ones?? already seen issues elsewhere

Difficult to find information here for reliability especially for a particular  model, Can find some reports on "overall" reliability, if you have any specific places I can find it id  be only to glad to see it.

I have to rely on Australian info on particular  models which is way more detailed  than anything on a Thai site and for pickups they are all made in Thailand except Amarok

I know I mentioned DPF filters, and I know they dont have them here, but there have been other issues in OZ which will apply  in Thailand, I found about 90 people very dissatisified with the REVO out of  a sample of 360, thats 25%, but  on all the other brands too the rate of dissatisfaction was fairly similar. Ford being the  worst especially Ranger.

Doubt any of that info would be allowed in Thailand  but if you have it Id  love to see it for all pick models.

Dont be surprised if i buy a Toyota at the end  anyway, its not ruled out 100% just its still dull, looks  matter for "me" but I did drive all the vehicles so it aint the only  things.

I also used to drive a Vigo. It was the perfect appliance, but very boring to drive. I actually did not enjoy driving it at all.

Now I have a Chevrolet and I am very happy with it. It is actually fun to drive and it looks great!

So, I could have kept the Toyota appliance and hate driving it, or I could buy a truck that I enjoy driving. My money, My choice.

There are plenty of Chevrolets on the roads up here in the far NE of Thailand.

I'm sorry, but I find it totally humorous when people are talking about styling on a pickup, or chuntering on about the comparative merits of their performance and handling. It's a bit like Trump explaining the benefits of socialism.

They are a truck. They perform like a truck, and handle like a truck. Depending how you drive them and load them, they are potentially lethal weapons - to the driver or anyone else on the road.

Get yourself into a modern high performance sedan or coupe, and you'll see what I mean.

Thats because it doesnt  matter to you, what the lethal weapon has to do with any of this I dont know, maybe I could investigate the road  kill rate for various  models?

Thats a  small minority as  are farangs in Thailand, so models built in Thailand for Australia in the same factories by the same workers bear no resemblance? I dont think so.

Heres  some figures of some number for Toyota inc new Hilux quite a few saying reliability aint what it used to be. https://www.productreview.com.au/p/toyota-hilux.html

Already checked all the others and theres not a huge difference.

Ok BLUE or RED? what colour should I choose?

I can only go on experience. Up on Doi Saket, particularly during the rainy season, there was always one or two pickups gone off the road into the mogumbi. My record was four one day. Invariably, underloaded or overloaded.

I've never seen a single sedan lose it there.

Ha ha I know what youre  saying, I see loads on the way up and down to  my  land in ditches upside down, but they are tail light and the roads get REALLY slippery here after dry season.

I see plenty of sedans/ hatches in the ditch also though and  rural areas bound to be all pick ups  anyway, pretty sure driver is he main error

Well then I do not understand why you are asking questions here when the Net has given you all your answers..But you seem to dismiss your Toyota's reliability and search for bad reports on them....Show me bad reports on LOS Toyota truck rides so l may help others in the future..????...

Choose white, most reflective, durable, and easiest to clean. You'll be cleaning blue every second day if you are house proud.

Red is the worst colour choice possible for any vehicle. The pigments absorb more spectrum radiation than any other colour - at least that's what a paint chemist told me. Fades quicker than any other colour.

Think about it - how many good-looking older red cars do you see on the roads?

This is just an extra resource for some info, ive  not dismissed Toyota at all and the reports are numerous on the Oz site, if  I could find an equivalent Thai site here that would be great for seeing whats  real and whats not in all brands  models.

I cant find any site on Toyota reliability and MAYBE thats due to defamation laws.
