PATTAYA:--Pattaya officials welcomed executives from a state-owned Chinese construction company looking to invest in a beach-maintenance project.

Deputy Mayor Poramet Ngampichet and mayoral advisors welcomed Liu Yuyang, manager from China National Complete Engineering Corp. to city all Dec. 24 to discuss investment in construction projects under the government’s Eastern Economic Corridor plan.

He stressed that tourist safety was a priority and said Chinese people need not fear coming to Pattaya. He urged the company to consider investing in a project to keep Pattaya Beach clear of garbage and other projects to improve the shoreline landscaping.

So they finally gave up and hired a foreign company?! Well that's a smart move, they even can't hire lifeguards themselves. But why the chinese and not westerners who have a much higher standard for safety?

I still wonder how they're going to clean the Pattaya sea  since it's the drain of Bangkok...

Chinese to take care of the garbage??? they are some of the biggest minkers on the planet!!

But i guess they are happy to go along with the kickbacks required!

This is genius, when it fails , blame the chinese

If they open a chinese takeaway same as the one I used to use when I was 18 back in UK and serve up the same food as then I'll be happy.

The Chinese have a lot of experience building "beaches" in the South Chine Sea. Pattaya should be no problem.

Abdicating their own responsibilities again .. And from what we've seen of it the Chinese tourist's that come here are the biggest litterers particularly those that come back from Larn who just chuck empty water bottles , fag packets and the plastic bags containing the tacky embossed plate things of 'em paragliding on the floor ..

Be careful who you get into bed with............

In Pattaya that's a given.

New beachfront restaurants and extra parking space for coaches busing in Chinese tourists for "eat as much as you can" buffets. Perhaps even a casino or two!

You mean those wonderful mementos they get, a photo stuck to a polystyrene snack-food tray?

Stay away from these people they will give you all the loan's you want knowing that you cannot pay them  back and then see what happens look where they are doing this Africa Sri Lanka then you will wake up one morning and find out you do not own your own beach anymore sure use a company who have a good track record in this type of work but please don't use these people
