  • There ya go. Proves the point. Never trust a smartly dressed man. A scruffy, unshaven, tattoo'd  urchin in flip flops and camo shorts would never do such a thing.

I'm happy that Thailand is not controlled by the liberal elite like most parts of the western world.

Yeh Facist elites are far better , history doesn't lie...

Can you imagine the New York Times saying, "well dressed African....." or the Guardian writing, "well-dressed Asian......"

If we were living in New York, I'd expect the headline to be 'Well dressed Tourist.....' although it would be difficult to determine that a person is a tourist just from CCTV.  In this case they'd probably put 'fat, old white man caught on CCTV shoplifting'.

Here in Thailand most of us want to know if the person was Thai, or Non Thai and as we have a convenient term to describe Westerners why not use it?

Don't know about you but I have zero interest in stories about Thai's shoplifting, but a story about a farang does interest me slightly.

Idiot!  Clear views on not one, but TWO cameras!  Identify, arrest, convict, 6 months in a Thai prison, deport & blacklist.

Wow 6 months for petty theft , whats the sentence for stealing a country ?

Doesn't look like he was trying to steal it.  Looks more like he was just carrying it off to find where to pay.

Although he didn't look like the sharpest tool in the shed either.

This is an expat forum, of course the main point of interest in many of the stories is the fact that the story involves an expat.

What is it that looks to you like he was not trying to do exactly what he did do?

Quite a standard outfit of so many baby-boomers farangs here. Lol

Smartly dressed?.

I was expecting a top hat and a bow tie.

In other words, he wasn't wearing a Chang muscle top

Not exactly good at it i bet its the first time he tried it ..

This inexperienced old fart of a shoplifter just want to feel his heart beat a little faster than when he is together with his wife of a lifetime  - In Thailand there are several ways to make this happen and shoplifting is obviously one of them ....

If "farang" wasn't in the headline, most (including yourself) probably wouldn't even be reading this thread.  It's also a point of interest because it's not common to see a "well-dressed" farang shoplifting.  Pretty darn rare, actually.

Problem is, we ALL look like that sooner or later here.

Did he really look like he was trying to hide the bag he selected, or simply make sure he had a good hold of it in the one hand he was using to carry everything?

He walked away with the bag in clear view in his hand.   It doesn't look like the kind of shop where you use a shopping basket, so you pickup items you want and then have to go find where to pay.

Smartly dressed? Could you be more serious?

I just bought a new one like that for THB 220... ????

From a fat farang?

He only weighs 60 kg but this was his 3rd shopping stop of the day. His shirt was stuffed with other items he stole. Smart dressed but dull witted.

Not very smart move to be so 'smartly dressed'.

He’s not too badly dressed- at least he was not wearing those elephant pants. Compared to the guys you see nursing a beer for breakfast- this is sartorial elegance.

Mind you I have a suspicion even if he was wearing Armani , with his fabulous figure - would look the same.

Not smart to make such a move in front of a cctv unless you are there for a few seconds of fame ...:whistling:

Another Cheap Charlie tourist, who gives us all a bad name, Shame on him.  I hope bad karma strikes him down the road. his clothes suggest he has money, enuff to pay anyway.
