Thai Wife Issues in the UK
She might enjoy working - let her keep the money - having her own money to buy girl stuff or send to Thailand on top of what you may give her. Make her feel that back in Thailand she's seen as a success of sorts. Some sort of thai related job might be good e.g. restaurant but not massage even if legit. Local thai friends will make a huge difference. Sit and make som tam or whatever and have some fun. She sounds a bit separate from her world and needs to be given an incentive to get out there a bit. -

BREAKING NEWS Second Assassination Attempt-Secret Service get Trump to safety
you have no idea who my candidate is so you may want to stick to your own lane. You certainly like to throw around labels, in try trump fashion, for everyone dont you? You cant seem to distinguish between fact and fiction so you should work on that first. -

A lot of Aussie tv stars dying
Reality is that this thread / the discussion in this thread is focused on a time period. There's lots more stars have come and gone that most of us are pretty much unaware of and there's the current stars which most of us (especially living abroad) have never seen. This is life. -

Where Do You Book Your Flights?
Completely wrong as I have said more than a few times My preferred agent Travel Trolley bends over backwards to assist me if I have the slightest issue As for getting help when I booked direct from Eva Etihad or as recently as last March China Eastern the less said the better, Never ever book direct if only for the reason 98% of the time it will be more expensive anyway Twice this current year alone TT contacted me within 45 minutes by Email answering my queries Book with agent and you also have a two pronged attack by getting hold of both agent and the airline And no another utter internet myth that if you book with an agent the airline wont deal with you...utter utter bollacks This just shows how our mileage varies and one persons 'utter bollacks' is anothers true story.... I rarely find flights cheaper through consolidators or online agents than I do when booking directly through the airline... when its cheaper through the agent, there is always some catch, like a longer layover, less baggage etc... when the produce is identical the price saving with the consolidator (or agent) compared to direct is minimal. And as for the final comment above - dealing with the Airlines can easier as they have to follow regulations - though I've had problems with airlines too, dealing with agents has proven troublesome. - When I paid about £2000 for a ticket through an agent (which did offer a decent cost saving than the airline), the flight was later cancelled - I filed for a refund and the Agent said to deal with the airline, airline said to deal with the agent. Agent offered a refund but only 70% of the cost as they had their fees to cover. End of conversation, I contacted ABTA... The response from the travel agent was that they were waiting for a refund from the airline... It took 5 months, but I did get my full refund. IMO - as soon as there is a problem and money is owed - Neither the Airline or Travel agents are particularly helpful at giving you back what is rightfully yours or resolving the situation to your satisfaction. The best I've had is Emirates, who paid compensation for delays of over a day (2x £520) and they paid up within a month... Turkish were awkward and I had to go through ADR, it took them months to pay the €600 months after initially rejecting the claim (bumped off a flight and delayed 24 hrs - stuck in IST). -

U.K. Passport Renewal Experience - VFS HMPO CHIANG MAI
Recently collected my new British passport (renewal) from the VFS HMPO office in Chiang Mai. The overall service was excellent. It took 2 weeks and 2 days from my first appointment until my new passport arrived at their office. I received an email advising my passport had arrived followed by a phone call a few minutes later. One thing to note is despite still stating on their web site passport application appointments are on Tuesday and Thursday / 08:30 - 14:00, after my initial email requesting my appointment, I was told they only offer appointments between 13:00 and 14:30 hours. I don’t know if it is still Tuesday and Thursday only as they didn’t say. Not a problem but something to be aware of. Perhaps they change the days and times based on the volume of applications they receive. The following link takes you through the process of overseas British passport applications and contains a link to the application form, other documents you need to complete and prices etc: https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports The email address to book an appointment is: [email protected] Provide them with your full name, Date of Birth, contact phone number and your preferred date and time for your appointment. They responded promptly by email with the appointment date and time and what I needed to complete/bring and information about the appointment. At the appointment I had to provide: 1. A completed application form 2. A completed payment form 3. 2 new and identical colour photos* * there are detailed notes on what is required in the “HMPO Overseas Guidance Booklet Applying Outside the U.K.” This includes size of the photos etc. and the size (a range) from the top of your head to your chin. The person sat next to me had their photos rejected as they did not meet these requirements. The staff sent them off to Maya to get their photos re-done. 4. Proof of address - I used my Thai Driving Licence (the address on the back is in both Thai and English). You have to provide a colour photocopy of all documents provided. 5. Current British passport and a full photocopy of the entire passport (including blank pages). I included both front and back covers too* * after applying for your new passport you will not be able to travel on it but you are able to keep it for identity purposes. The office is located opposite Maya at: No.191 Siripanich Building 6B Floor Huay Kaew Road Suthep Chiang Mai 50200 On both occasions I took a Grab car and on all 4 rides the GPS navigated them 30 metres down the road past the actual office. No idea why. On entering the building go through the doors on the left and take the lift to floor 6. I arrived 10 mins before my appointment and understandably the office was closed for lunch. The office opened promptly at 13:00 hours and I went to the first of two passport application desks. 25 mins later the appointment was completed. To pick up your passport you need to go between 14:00 and 16:00 hours Monday to Friday. Just need to take your current passport and the receipt they issued at your first appointment. They cut off the corner of your old passport and hand over your new passport. It took no more than 5 minutes. All in all a first class service! -

Best UK Bank whilst living in Thailand
Thanks for this, things do change. Santander contacted me wanting to know my future intended use of their current and savings account. I told them I was abroad until further notice and the lack of use was due to Chase UK paying 1% cash back on purchases with their debit card. I told them if their account became competitive I would recommence use. They were happy with this and left it at that. -

BREAKING NEWS Second Assassination Attempt-Secret Service get Trump to safety
But Russia attacked Ukraine and Russia did a misinformation attack on the US. It is more than reasonable that the Russians would be planting anti-Ukraine misinformation along with their anti-Harris misinformation. It would be incidental for a pro-Ukraine shooter that sees Trump as a traitor. A collateral loss as far as Putin is concerned, as is Trump.- 1

'Love tourists': Single men travelling overseas to find a bride
A lot of the guys who expatriate to cheaper countries just end up utilizing the services of prostitutes. Typically they don't have much in common with the local population. If they are able to overcome those cultural and communication barriers, it's a lot harder to do then it would be with someone from their home country. If a guy has that sort of game and skill to overcome those barriers with a foreign non-prostitute partner they would already have someone in their home country, or they would be relocating with their partner. -

Thailand issues four major announcements on new visa measures
The overall trend is to relax visa requirements. This is good. I suppose that the main driver for it is the worldwide problem of depopulation. So I expect that visa requirements will continue to relax. And we will see such news every several months.
