you dont get much for your money these days and i see prices all ways rising where there is a farang around. if his workmanship is good and he is reliable i would be more than happy to pay that. who needs the stress to save a few bob and the work is crap.

If those quotes are basically for labour only then in my opinion way over the top.

They are labour and material ( paint, timber deck, wood steps, window, bathroom doors, steel sub frame to bathroom )

excluding ( toilet, basin, shower heater, tiles, glass block, )

Entirely depends on the final outcome of the project

If it goes well and there are no issues then money well spent IMO
However, if it becomes the traditional higher % normal shoddy outcome then obviously you will rue the day, and all posters will be to blame for poor advice.......

now I'm really confused on what you posted, are you saying the price is ok ?

....  gk10002000 is saying that the cost being 32,000 baht is not so bad as it's equivalent to around $1,000  USD .

That's what I make of his original post .

correct ~ $1,000 USD or 32,000 baht seems reasonable.

2-layer waterproof plaster 80 bht per m2 lab.

Install floor tiles 60 bht m2 lab.

Install wall tiles 80 bht m2 lab.

This is cheap , if happy with the finished job you got a bargain IMO

the cheap mom pop fittings may look tempting, but most of the steel and fake stainless steel will rustout after a yr or so.  hafele is expensive alternative but yrs down the track its still same as new.

500bht/person/day is more than enough.

If only, can't get anybody to work where I am for 500 Baht a day, they may turn up, but they are not going to "work", semi skilled or skilled labour would ask for a higher price, but - forget it, there are none out in the sticks outside Udon.

Ditto

Where I live none of the so called builders are interested in doing anything less than building you a house. They just don't turn up for a few days work unless the daily rate is 3 times the norm.

The plus side is that with the help of YouTube etc I have done lots of things myself. Mostly , I have done work as good as any hired builder even if it has taken me a lot longer.

I have learnt a he'll of a lot and if I were younger I reckon I could almost build a house myself. Only deficient in welding so no roof work.

Yes, my situation is that it's DIY or it doesn't get done! I'm a much better supervisor than I am worker though, but needs be, nobody to supervise! Luckily I am able to tackle most jobs, though I do wonder when attacking the garden with a weed wacker in the heat what when wrong with my retirement plans! not quite what I envisaged for sure ????

I would offer to help with any welding work, but too busy ????  - my first full time job 50 years ago was apprentice welder/fabricator.

Tell me about it. I always wanted a big garden but now I have one I wish it were smaller. Love the work but the heat kills me so can only go out for 1 hour in the evening.

My sentiments exactly, love the garden, always wanted a large garden with lawns, now I have an acre, I don't enjoy gardening near as much as I thought I would due mainly to the heat, 4 months of the year up here is ok, the other eight - just too hot to get any enjoyment.

Good luck finding these laborers for 500 baht particularly in a tourist area where you will likely be using a farang contractor who is merely jacking up the price.  My friend in Pattaya used an englishman named Peter who promised great work then had a Thai do sloppy work then he buggered off to another job already prepaid without even completing.  This guy is still operating.

Too much work these days and very few good guys don't have jobs getting 5 to 600 baht. My Thai friend from Korat advertises on bahtsold and goes anywhere but pays his regular guys 600 to 650 baht minimum then employs local laborers but they are now wanting 500 baht in most areas of Issan these days.

It was fine before the boom people realized there is a huge demand for housing in most cities now and jobs are plentiful....too many of us Farang still live in the past
