Honda Automobile (Thailand) on Monday introduced the new Honda BR-V, an active sport crossover vehicle, with a new tough-looking and sporty design.

The Honda BR-V features a new front grille, projector headlights with LED position lights, LED daytime running lights, newly designed fog lights, and sporty alloy wheels with a brand-new design.

The new model also comes in a new Passion Red Pearl colour, and is available with a three-row, seven-seat or a two-row, five-seat cabin configuration with adjustable functionality to meet any lifestyle requirement.

It is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that is compatible with E85 fuel and delivers 117 horsepower, plus a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology.

The new Honda BR-V also offers many standard safety features to ensure safe driving under all conditions.

In conjunction with the introduction of the new BR-V, Honda also introduced the “Trade-up to a new Honda BR-V” campaign and a special “Double Smile” campaign for every new Honda BR-V purchase.

The new Honda BR-V is available in two variants: the SV variant, which is priced at Bt835,000, and the V variant, priced at Bt765,000.

1.5 litre engine?  117hp?  Too small and under powered.  Imagine having the third row seat in with seven passengers trying to get up hills in Khao Yai or somewhere else.

Does it have a "special feature mode" when Thai drivers are in the front seat??

Is turbo charged an option ?

Looks ugly a a piece of c... to me

The HRV is beautiful and would be on my list if i wanted a car that size, the BRV is still ugly even after the "upgrade".

What does the BR even do?

The HR is smaller and stylish whilst the CR can do AWD and 7 seats.

IMHO of course

Cheese...?

In Australia maybe they market it as the Honda BR UTE?

As long as it has 5+ gears. Yes under powered for the configuration but would only be used for burnings and weddings. Still beats 5 people in the back of a ute when it is 40+C or raining.

Saw a review on YouTube for the new CRV, (cvt)...really slow off the mark with foot to the floor to the point of being scary if you need decent acceleration at a junction. I was thinking of getting one until I saw that review as they do look nice. I suspect that the BRV is the same set up under a different skin.

i guess it’s the Fortuner then..... missus is happy

No, the BRV shares its platform with the Jazz and city, they all share the same engine and gearbox.

A lot better than the 5 of us in the open back of a pickup from BKK to Loei on one visit.  Started out at about 40 C and it rained on us before we got to Loei.  Brutal trip.

How fast did you expect a vehicle with a 173HP motor an 1600+ kg to haul around? It's not all that slow and does what it is designed for. I have the diesel version and it is plenty enough for a non boy-racer.

No. Unless you want to drop 50K+ for an aftermarket turbo kit. That makes the jazz go quite well.

How does it pull away from the lights? I really wanted the 2019 CRV but the YouTube vid looks a bit scary

When it comes to how fast a car is it is the same as discussing how beautiful it is.

Different people have different standards of what is acceptable performance-wise. For me, anything less than 250 HP is scarily slow. My Camry has 267 HP and I still think it's slow, I still have to go full throttle merging onto the motorway.

looks like they have followed the chinese cheap car idea...

of putting lots of pre-creases into the panels, to give an illusion  of strength!

Ford did that experiment decades ago on the Cortina and Falcon - looks 'tinny'

CRV - Comfortable Runaround Vehicle

HRV - High Rider Vehicle

BRV - Bold Runaround Vehicle

So... there you are...  The CRV is supposed to be comfortable (it is). HRV is supposed to be higher than the average car (it is). the BRV is supposed to be erm... Bold, I don't even know how a car can be bold !!!

I think it's fine for normal driving. The performance of the petrol version is similar.

5+ gears? It’s a CVT (continuous variable transmission) personally I will never buy any car with CVT, really depressing, takes all the fun out of a car. After all this, the low HP puts this car further to the very bottom of my list.

There's nothing fun driving a manual box in Bangkok city. Been there, done that. Modern autos are as just as efficient and economical as any manual box. It just doesn't make sense in a congested city or metropolitan area. Even Toyota dropped their manual vios. Manuals sell in such small numbers that it's hard for manufacturers to make a business case for them.

You misunderstood, I love the automatic gearbox, they are technically a miracle. I just don’t like the CVT. I drive a car with DCT gearbox which for me is just awsome!

Go and try one out, only way to find out if you like it or not. Should be okay for normal driving as mentioned.

Saw that video, almost 200km/h so acceleration should be fine, all things considered.

OK, I have a cvt in my swift. I don't like it that much, but I think in more powerful cars its ok - the civic turbo has it and has 'fake shifts', so it won't sit on the redline and groan when you give it full throttle. I prefer a normally shifting gearbox. The diesel crv has 9 gears and rarely need to take it over 2500 rpm. It pulls well in all gears. Not been in 9th gear yet as it needs to go over 130km/h for that. I think it's designed for the autobahn, as this motor/gearbox is common in Europe.
